The owner and cashier of a Prachin Buri karaoke bar have been charged with human trafficking after allegedly supplying girls under 18 for prostitution.
Officers of the Anti-Human Trafficking Division made the arrests on Monday night at the Thanapat karaoke bar in Kabin Buri district’s Tambon Nong Kee, the division’s chief, Pol Maj-General Kornchai Klayklueng, announced on Tuesday.
Thitirat Lin, 36, and Suthat Chaisamrit, 29, were apprehended in a sting operation.
Undercover police allegedly arranged with the bar staff to pay the girls Bt2,000 each for sex at a hotel. Police then retrieved the girls from the hotel room and turned them over to a home caring for children and families.
Kornchai said another team then went to the bar to trace the banknotes used to pay the girls and arrested Thitirat, the bar owner, and Suthat, the cashier.
