Announcements were posted on piers along Saen Saeb to inform commuters of the fare increase this week after the Marine Department approved the operators’ request for the increase on the grounds of rising diesel prices, which now stand at Bt25.19 per litre.

The approval followed a public boat transport committee’s resolution on September 29, 2016 that if diesel prices rose beyond Bt25 per litre for 10 consecutive days, boat operators could apply for a fare hike.
