‘Pickup attack’ sisters hear three charges, counter with police complaint of their own

The two sisters in the highly publicised axe-and-shovel attack on a pickup truck that was parked blocking the entrance gate to their Bangkok home last month, heard the charges against them of property damage, threat and carrying weapons to a public place at Prawet district police station on Monday.
To counter 37-year-old female plaintiff/pickup driver Ratchanikorn Lertwasana’s complaint for these three charges, Rattanachat Seangyoktrakan, 61, and Ranee Saengyoktrakan, 57, lodged a police complaint accusing Ratchanikorn of annoying or bullying them in public or causing them to be troubled.
This criminal charge – which is punishable with a maximum jail term of one month and/or a fine not exceeding Bt10,000 – is often accompanied by a traffic law charge of parking a vehicle to block the way of others, for which police had previously fined Ratchanikorn Bt500 in connection with the case.
