Authorities monitoring situation after US Fed cuts rate

The government and the Bank of Thailand will keep a close watch on the situation after the US Federal Reserve cut its benchmark rate by a quarter of a percentage point on Wednesday, deputy secretary-general to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, Kobsak Pootrakool, said on Thursday.
He said the US rate cut would trigger funds inflows to Thailand and the rate cut would put pressure on the local policy rate direction.
He added that the central bank had to keep a closer watch on the situation.
