The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) might decide to keep the policy rate unchanged at 1.5 per cent at its meeting on September 25 (Wednesday), pending an assessment on the impact of the previous cut, Krungthai Bank’s Chief Markets Strategist Jitipol Puksamatanan said.

However, pressure from the ongoing economic downturn, flood damages, and the slowdown in investment might lead to another reduction by the central bank this year, he added.

The MPC cut the policy rate by 0.25 of a percentage point from 1.75 to 1.5 per cent at its last meeting in August
