Gold price sees steep rise amid US-China tensions, Covid-19 crisis

The price of gold rose by Bt200 per baht weight on Monday morning over Saturday’s closing price.
As of 9.58am, the Gold Traders Association reported on Monday that the buying price of a gold bar was Bt28,600 per baht weight and selling price Bt28,700, while gold ornaments cost Bt28,091.48 and Bt29,200, respectively.
The buying price of a gold bar on Friday was Bt28,300 per baht weight and selling price Bt28,400, while gold ornaments cost Bt27,788.28 and Bt28,900 respectively.
Gold contract in the New York market closed in positive zone on Friday, the highest price in past nine months, amid the conflict between the US and China and the increasing number of Covid-19 patients.
The Comex (Commodity Exchange) gold, to be delivered in August, rose by US$7.5, or 0.4 per cent, to US$1,897.5 (Bt59,821) per ounce.
