Democracy group slams government PR chief of misusing state media

The Democracy Restoration Group (DRG) has accused Lt-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd, the Government Public Relations Department director-general, of using state-owned media to attack anti-government protesters.
In a Facebook post on Saturday (August 22), the group claimed that Sansern, when he was the spokesman of the Centre for Resolution of Emergency Situation, had initiated a plan to slander protesters, resulting in the military crackdown in 2010.
When the military-backed National Council for Peace and Order formed the government, he was promoted to a military rank and spokesman of the Office of the Prime Minister. He used to argue with people who called for an election during that time. Before the end of the NCPO regime in April 2019, he was promoted to director-general of the Government Public Relations Department, the post said.
“Recently, he launched video clips ‘The purest love from mom’ and ‘Thai Flag’, accusing those who use their rights and liberties under democracy of not respecting others’ opinion and trying to create conflict among Thais,” the group said in the post.
After these video clips were released, netizens were disappointed with the government’s propaganda, saying that these video clips made the political demonstration look like a bad thing. These video clips were later deleted.
The democracy group demanded the resignation of Sansern and the government led by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, accusing them of using the annual budget to create conflict among people.
