Govt agency urged to help mitigate disaster in lower North

Deputy Labour Minister Narumon Pinyosinwat on Monday (August 24) urged the Department of Skill Development to lend a hand to residents in lower North, who face flooding after being hit by heavy rains for several days.

She said the ministry was concerned about people’s safety and well-being.

“We have called on the department to lend a hand to provincial authorities and help move people’s belongings to higher area to ensure their safety and mitigate the impact as much as possible,” she said.

“The department will also help repair electronics, motorcycles or agricultural tools that have been damaged in the rain for free.”

The deputy minister added that in the next phase, the department will offer courses on repairing homes, vehicles and household appliances, so people are able to not just fix their own appliances, but also use this knowledge to generate income.
