The complaint letter said the move to cut provident funds, cost-of-living allowances, executive perks and performance bonuses would lower the morale of EC officials across the country.

The cut in allowances, the letter added, will adversely affect staff efficiency and loyalty to the agency.

The complaint letter also called for the removal of the EC’s policy and planning office director Surani Polthawi, alleging that she did not have enough knowledge to manage the EC’s budget.

The EC only has Bt72 million left in its coffers. The commission has spent Bt4.4 billion over 10 years, the complaint said.

The letter added that the EC had mismanaged its finances by promoting and giving pay raises to high-ranking officials at the provincial level even though the Prayut government had suspended elections.
