Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday slammed ex-MPs of Pheu Thai Party for having possessed red bowls with former PM Thaksin Shinawatra’s signature and Songkran wishes.

He urged the distributors, in a bid to prove their honest intention, to give away water jars as they would be more useful, used for stocking up water, than the “red” bowls, saying that people would know the hidden agenda behind the unsavory activity- promoting PM Thaksin, who has been in exile and is a fugitive.

Giving away red plastic bowls might not be illegal, said PM. He, however, questioned whether it was appropriate to do so.

“I don’t know if supporting a fugitive and unveiling [his] photos…to draw the public attention is illegal or not. Some [activities] should be done or not? It is a

sense of right or wrong,” said PM Prayut.

Military officers and police led by Pol Col Prayoon Chamnankong launched a raid on Saturday to the three Pheu Thai ex-MPs’ residents in Nan province for storing more than ten-thousands of the red bowls.

The officers seized three Nan ex-MPs, Sirintorn Ramasute, Nattapong Supriyasilp, and Chonlanan Srikaew of 8,382, 1,048, and 1,500 red bowls respectively as the activity was believed to violate Section 116 of Criminal Code banning sedition.

The three ex-MPs, however, at press time had not yet been pressed any charges, according to Prayoon, as three of them had not had carried out the distribution yet.

He said the officers were probing and considering whether their action would be under any charges or not.

Meanwhile, Thaksin yesterday challenged the officers to press charges on the three MPs, saying that the military officers did not need to ask three of them how

they got the bowls from, as his name was obviously on the bowls and he had been giving away the bowls during Songkran festival for years.

Thaksin also suggested the NCPO not to waste its time on this case as it panel should spend time on solving the country’s problems including drought, conflicts in the South, and drug issue.

Previously, during the New Year festival, distribution of calendar embossed with former premiersThaksin and Yingluck, Thaksin’s sister was also banned by the NCPO.
