AS PUBLIC debate on the charter draft goes on, people can now study content of the draft themselves via a new mobile application officially made available yesterday by the Election Commission (EC).
The Intelligence to Referendum or Smart Info application allows users to easily access vital details of the draft and the August referendum. The app features five sections, ranging from a full version of the draft, summaries of the draft’s content, the referendum introduction, the referendum processes, and info-graphics on the draft’s content.
In addition to the draft’s content, the app advises “how to prepare yourselves for the referendum”, showing steps to how to cast votes, an example of ballots, the additional question and its description by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA).
Some functions are displayed in colourful info-graphics along with concise explanations, allowing users to send and share with their friends, via various social networks – Line, Facebook, and Twitter.
When users have completed reading all content in the app, they will be granted a Recognition Certificate which can be shared with or shown to others, according to Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn.
The app also links to other related websites – those of the EC, the NLA, and the Constitution Drafting Commission.
Importantly, users of the app can register to cast a vote in districts where they are not registered as a resident.
The Smart Info app is among three apps related to the August referendum.
The other two are “North Star” and “Pineapple Eyes.” North Star allows users to find locations of polling booths, while the latter is for “monitoring and alerting about election frauds”.
On referendum day, the elderly and disabled will also be helped to cast their votes, Somchai said.
