Supinya Klangnarong, a member of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commissions’ broadcasting committee, said yesterday that her panel would take this matter into consideration today.

The NBTC suggested that the request could be approved if a government agency applied for the licence under category three, which is related to government communications.

However, Supinya said there were several state agencies interested in acquiring a digital TV licence via the “beauty contest” bidding process, adding that the government should follow this process or coordinate with public broadcasters.
