In a press release, the Auditor General’s office said tax collectors had been urged to collect and pursue tax payments worth Bt24.3 billion from individuals and businesses since it established the auditing task force in 2016.

The AG’s office said it has ordered the Revenue Department to collect back taxes from Thaksin worth Bt17.1 billion.

Due to the AG’s advice, the Revenue Department has obtained Bt375 million in additional taxes. The Customs Department has collected more than Bt22 million and plans to collect a further Bt4.6 billion.

The Excise Department received Bt1.9 billion worth of taxes and is planning to collect an additional Bt50 million. Meanwhile, local governments collected Bt79 million more and plan to collect Bt6 million more.
