Video clips and still photos that capture a herd of 30 wild elephants playing in the water in Kanchanaburi’s Thong Pha Phum district, got a lot of attention on Thai social media on Wednesday.
The two videos and 17 stills received nearly 100 likes and 58 shares as the issue of wild elephants invading people’s farms near the Suan Pa Thong Pha Phum to eat crops is being addressed.
The Kanchanaburi-based Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/tpp.fio) said people should also sympathise with the elephants that need to survive and protect their herd.
They urged people to join attempts to solve the human-elephant conflict over resources by helping to create water and food sources within the forest so wildlife does not need to invade farms.
