Representatives of 400 users of Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro smartphones filed a complaint with the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) that their handsets used components inferior to what had been advertised.
The representatives called on the OCPB to help arrange for replacement handsets to meet what was stated in advertisements of the Chinese smartphone manufacturers.
The group, led by Krittisin Pattanapaisarn, claimed that their handsets used old storage devices, instead of the faster and more advanced type advertised by Huawei.
Krittisin also demonstrated that affected handsets had problems running certain applications while the same models that were unaffected could run them seamlessly. The demonstration showed that the affected handsets ran about 30 seconds slower.
Krittisin said about 400 buyers had similar problems so they had formed a group and sent six representatives to file a complaint with the OCPB.
