The Samut Prakan Central Prison launched a project on Friday to produce artificial limbs for 12 inmates who are amputees.
Prison officials contacted Samut Prakan and Bang Bo Hospitals to provide artificial limbs for the 10 male inmates and two female inmates – to help them move around and live more like their peers, prison director Krit Wongwet said.
Krit presiding over a ceremony for the “rehabilitation of the disabled and an artificial limb-making” scheme.
The prison also joined with the provincial public health office and provincial social development and human security office to register these inmates for ID cards for disabled people, so they will receive basic rights, similar to disabled people outside prison.
