Cabinet approves appointments of 10 senior public health officials

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the appointments of 10 senior officials in the public health sector, including four directors-general and four deputy permanent secretaries.

During its weekly meeting, the Cabinet gave the nod to the following appointments, as proposed by Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn:

1 Dr Suwanchai Watanayingcharoenchai, deputy permanent secretary at the Public Health Ministry, is to become director-general of the Disease Control Department.

2 Dr Somsak Akkasilp, deputy permanent secretary, will become director-general of the Medical Services Department.

3 Dr Pranom Khamthiang, deputy permanent secretary, will become director-general of the Health Service Support Department.

4 Dr Kiartiphum Wongrachit, deputy permanent secretary, will become director-general of the Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department.

5 Dr Marut Jirasetsiri, chief inspector-general at the ministry, is to become a deputy permanent secretary.

6 Dr Tharet Kratnaiyarawiwong, inspector-general of Public Health Zone 6, will become a deputy permanent secretary at the ministry.

7 Dr Phanpimol Wiplakorn, inspector-general of Public Health Zone 12, will become a deputy permanent secretary.

8 Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, inspector-general of Public Health Zone 3, will become a deputy permanent secretary.

9 Dr Jessada Chaikhunrat, public health information officer for Public Health Zone 11, will become an inspector-general at the ministry.

10 Dr Boonchai Thirakarn, public health information officer for Public Health Zone 3, will become an inspector-general.

The appointments take effect on October 1.
