The fire in the Thung Pak Lek peat forest, located within the Songkhla Lake Wildlife Sanctuary, started on Monday night and continued spreading on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the firefighters had managed to contain the flames, but were continuing to spray water in smouldering areas to avoid a reignition of the fire.
