Law Council disagrees with EC move for Future Forward dissolution

The chief of the Law Council of Thailand has expressed his disagreement with the Election Commission’s petition to the Constitution Court, seeking dissolution of Future Forward Party overs its leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit allegedly illegally granting loans to the party.
President of the council, Narinpong Chinapak, said the EC petition cites Article 72 of the organic law on political parties, which prohibits holders of political positions from receiving money, properties or any profit from illegal sources both knowingly and unknowingly.
However, Narinpong said that Thanathorn’s loans are not an illegal source of money as he has made contracts according to the law.
He added that the EC petition did not seem to be completely transparent and tried to illogically link the loan case with Article 72.
