SET falls as spread of Covid-19 widens

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index closed at 1,335.72 today (March 2), down 4.80 points (0.36 per cent) from the end of trade last week with a total transaction of Bt74.368 billion.

The SET index touched a high of 1,358.52 and a low of 1,317.45.

Krungsri Securities had predicted the SET Index to fall between 1,300 and 1,320 due to spread of the Covid-19 virus globally.

The top ten stocks with the highest trade values today were BAM , PTT, AOT, SCB, GULF, ADVANC, KBANK, CPALL, PTTEP, and CRC.

Elsewhere in Asia, Japan’s Nikkei Index closed at 21,344.08, up 201.12 points, or 0.95 per cent.

China’s Shanghai SE Composite Index closed at 2,970.93, up 90.63 points, or 3.15 per cent, while Shenzhen SE Component Index closed at 11,381.76, up 400.99 points, or 3.65 per cent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index closed at 26,291.68, up 161.75 points, or 0.62 per cent.

South Korea’s KOSPI Index closed at 2,002.51, up 15.50 points, or 0.78 per cent.

Taiwan’s TAIEX Index closed at 11,170.46, down 121.71 points, or 1.08 per cent.
