Continuous rainfall is likely across the country with isolated heavy rain and strong winds in the East and the Central, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the South, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Monday (October 12).

A strong monsoon trough lies across the lower Central, the upper South and the East while the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand, the department said.

People in risky areas should beware of the severe conditions. Strong winds are likely with waves in the Andaman Sea 2-3 metres high and more than three metres high during thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and small boats keep ashore, the department cautioned.

Meanwhile, the category 2 depression Linfa has weakened to category 1 active low-pressure over Attapeu in Laos and could bring more rain in the lower East and the Northeast regions.
