The Department of Disease Control (DDC) deployed three biosafety mobile units in Tak’s Mae Sot to test thousands of Thais and Burmese in the area after three drivers from Myanmar were found to be infected with Covid-19, causing alarm in the district.

The DDC collected 4,189 samples on October 12 and 13. Some 286 more Thais have been tested, but the department said that more Thais and Burmese are queuing up for tests, with the line presently stretching 200-300 metres.

Precisely 2,993 samples have been taken so far to Mae Sot hospital and a laboratory in Phitsanulok.

Health volunteers have also joined in the operation, especially in the Muslim community in Pachareon market, one of the areas the drivers visited, and the Burmese community located nearby.
