Mongkutwattana Hospital sets up field hospital with ICU beds for rising Covid caseload

The Mongkutwattana Hospital in Bangkok’s Lak Si area has set up a field hospital providing 215 beds for Covid-19 patients.

Hospital director Rienthong Nanna said the 3,000-square-metre field hospital took 12 days to set up, and also includes 48 ICU beds as well surgery and emergency facilities. The system also allows doctors to monitor ICU patients from a distance.

Rienthong added that the ventilation system in the field hospital circulates air in a closed-circuit system and can filter out viruses.

A construction workers’ camp in the area recently became a Covid cluster with hundreds of workers testing positive.
