Ministry of Public Health reported on Tuesday (December 21) morning that in the past 24 hours there are 2,476 new patients who tested positive for Covid-19, 47 of whom have been found in prisons.

Thailand recorded 2,476 Covid-19 cases and 32 deaths on Tuesday.

Death toll increased by 32, while 3,649 patients were cured and allowed to leave hospitals.

The country’s total caseload from Covid-19 stands at 2,196,529 – 2,136,197 of whom have recovered, 38,892 are still in hospitals and 21,440 have died.

Separately, another 50,876 people were given their first Covid-19 shot in the last 24 hours, 108,685 their second shot and 113,765 a booster, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered nationwide to 100,171,841.

According to Worldometer, confirmed cases globally had risen to 275.8 million on Tuesday, 247.44 million of whom have recovered, 22.98 million are active cases (88,733 in severe condition) and 5.38 million have died (up by 4,939).

Thailand ranks 24th in the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 52.06 million, followed by India with 34.75 million, Brazil with 22.22 million, the UK with 11.45 million and Russia with 10.24 million.
