Thundershowers and gusty winds ease through most of Thailand


The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Tuesday that the weakening southerly and the southeasterly winds across upper Thailand would result in a decrease in thundershowers and gusty winds in some areas.

People should beware of the severe conditions, the department said, while warning farmers of damage to crops.

Meanwhile, the easterly and the southeasterly winds prevailing across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand, will bring scattered thundershowers in the areas.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 23-25 degrees Celsius, highs of 34-38°C.

Northeast: Thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 35-37°C.

Central: Thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 22-26°C, highs of 36-38°C.

East: Thundershowers in 30 per cent of the region; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 33-37°C; waves less than a metre high and over a metre during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 34-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-26 degrees, highs of 33-35 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas; gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 25-26°C, highs of 34-36°C.
