Thailand’s medical device imports from Taiwan have risen significantly in the last few years. To encourage more cooperation between Thailand and Taiwan in the medical care industry, the “Taiwan Excellence Driving a New Revolution in Smart Medical Webinar” was held on Sept. 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. (GMT+7) by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) in Taiwan, and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

Four Taiwan Excellence award-winning companies including EPED Inc., IEI, Insight Medical Solutions, and Medimaging Integrated Solution, were invited to demonstrate their latest products and technologies.

Grace Wang, Chairman of the Taiwan Medical & Biotech Industry Association, delivered the welcoming remarks.

Grace Wang, Chairman of the Taiwan Medical & Biotech Industry Association, stated in the opening remarks that IC design, semiconductors, and telecommunication technologies are all critical to the upcoming revolution in the medical and healthcare industries, and that Taiwan’s technological competencies have helped the island secure an important place in the global medical sector. Taiwan’s R&D personnel are working hard to create a low-risk and high-reward environment for medical professionals as well as patients, said Ms. Wang, and she expects to see more and more communication, interaction, and trading opportunities in the industry between Bangkok and Taipei. 

Emmanuel Felix Lespron, Global Marketing Manager for EPED Inc. presented on the subject of “Guiding the Future of Precision Medicine”.

Emmanuel Felix Lespron, Global Marketing Manager for EPED Inc., proudly showcased RETINA, a stereotactic surgery navigation system which is used in many types of minimally invasive surgeries. It is capable of reducing unnecessary tissue injuries and lowering the risk of surgical complications. According to Mr. Lespron, the company’s 4D dental surgery navigation system, IRIS, features the most advanced 4D optical positioning technology and real-time tracking, so it’s the best assistant even in complex cases like zygomatic implant surgeries. 
 

Jenny Lu, Senior Medical Business Center Salesperson for IEI Integration Corp., spoke on the topic of “AI Computers in Healthcare”.

Jenny Lu, Senior Medical Business Center Salesperson for IEI Integration Corp., shared that IEI’s medical image management system POCi-W22C-ULT5 comes with various features to accelerate hospital digitalization, such as an ultra-slim aluminum front bezel display and modular expansion design. Additionally, POCi-W22C-ULT5 has been used as part of an anesthesia information management system because it speeds up the transfer of anesthesia information during operations so that caregivers are able to manage any situation with maximum efficiency. 

Kevin Sung, Director of Marketing & the Business Development Division from Insight Medical Solutions Inc., presented on the subject of “UGI Tract Examinations Made Easy”.

Kevin Sung, Director of Marketing & the Business Development Division from Insight Medical Solutions Inc. announced that the company has successfully developed the world’s first wired magnetic-assisted capsule endoscope (MACE) for upper digestive tract examinations. By swallowing the fish oil capsule-like endoscope, the process is anesthesia free and patients can even communicate with doctors during the examination. Mr. Sung is confident that the sterile, single-use medical device greatly decreases the chance of physicians and patients getting aerosol infections or cross-infections.
 

Jeff Wang, Senior Sales Director of the Business Development Center from Medimaging Integrated Solution Inc. (MiiS), focused on the topic of “Best AI-powered Imaging Solutions in Primary Care Diagnosis”.

Jeff Wang, Senior Sales Director of the Business Development Center from Medimaging Integrated Solution Inc. (MiiS) gave a presentation on primary care diagnosis. The company’s Smart Wound Carer is a multi-sensing device which integrates a color camera, a thermal camera and a 3D camera to assess wound size, depth and tissue ratios of chronic skin injuries. With the help of its AI wound care analysis system, MiiS makes remote wound care more accurate, and shortens the healing time of wounds. 

The webinar attracted about 85 people who registered online, including professional medical media, such as Innolab Magazine and Thailand Biotech Guide, and mainstream media, such as Bangkok Post, and ARIP Group and well-known companies such as Bangkok Hospital and Tisco Asset Management.
