Parit’s condition worsens as hunger strike enters second month
After more than a month of fasting in prison, anti-establishment movement leader Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak has started excreting blood clots, the United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration reported on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
The post also speculated that his intestine may have started digesting itself.
Parit has also reportedly told his lawyer that he cannot sleep.
The protest leader began his hunger strike on March 15 to demand that he and fellow protesters flung behind bars over lese majeste charges be granted bail.
Parit’s mother and his lawyer went to the Bangkok Criminal Court on Thursday at noon to beg that bail be granted to Parit and the rest of the protesters.
