Thai superstar Superbon is ready to seize the moment, defeat one of the greatest fighters in the history of kickboxing, and become the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion.

The stakes are incredibly high when Superbon meets legendary Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan in the Circle at ONE: First Strike, which broadcasts live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, October 15.

Superbon says he’s more than ready to face Petrosyan, after analyzing the Italian-Armenian’s most recent performances.

“After I studied Petrosyan’s previous fights, I found that he couldn’t take knees so well. For his strength, he has deadly punches and fast strikes. His danger lies in his striking techniques. He can land punches, and he kicks with incredible power and precision. He is a very strong fighter,” Superbon told ONE Championship.

“However, I will counteract him by making a move first and attacking him whenever I see a chance.”

Conversely, Superbon doesn’t believe he has many flaws, and that he has the upper hand against his esteemed opponent.

“I think I have no weaknesses. My strength is that I am a well-rounded fighter. Also, with my Muay Thai background, I can adapt my versatile Muay Thai skills to kickboxing. And, I’ve been through more experiences than him,” Superbon said.

“He is likely to press forward to attack me, using his long-range weapons like kicks and straight punches. He will definitely avoid clinching with me.”

Petrosyan is hands down the favorite to win the inaugural title. He’s already won the 2019 ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix after joining ONE Championship.

But Superbon is confident he can beat “The Doctor” and won’t back down from a fight.

“I will consistently press forward and keep striking to get a clean hit. If we have a chance to trade blows, I will not hesitate to do so. This fight will be a great test of our wits and tactics,” Superbon said.

“It’s hard to predict how the game will turn out, and it’s hard to knock him out because he is a high-level fighter. Also, we both will do everything to hide our flaws so we don’t get knocked out. I think each of us will likely outscore the other round by round and end up with a decision.”

ONE Championship returns on Friday, October 15 with ONE: First Strike. Apart from the main event, the quarterfinal round of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix also kicks off with eight of the best kickboxers in the world.

CHATCHU-ON STEERS NAKHON RATCHASIMA TO 3-0 TRIUMPH AGAINST SUPREME, FINAL SHOWDOWN AT ASIAN WOMENS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP #SootinClaimon.Com

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 6, 2021 – Gifted Chatchu-on Moksri guided classy Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC to fourth straight win in the 2021 Asian Womens Club Volleyball Championship as the four-time Thailand League winners cruised to an exceptional 3-0 victory against Supreme Chonburi in the do-or-die semifinals on Wednesday.

Nakhon Ratchasima, strong with the likes of highly-experienced setter Nootsara Tomkom and star spiker Chatchu-on, survived a daunting challenge from Supreme to stun the former successive two-time Asian Club champions in hotly-contested three-setter 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 and progress to the final showdown of the one-week Championship.

Nakhon Ratchasima will face off against Kazakhstan’s Altay in a clash of the Titans on Thursday. Both teams remained unbeaten and no matter what position they will take in this Championship, it will turn out to be their maiden victory. Nakhon Ratchasima and Altay have yet reached the final clash of the Championship, with the former finishing a disappointing 5th in the 2014 edition on home soil and the latter clinching fourth place four times in a row at the previous editions in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Chatchuon-Moksri scored a game-high 20 attack points from 51 attempts, while Chatsuda Nilapa kept good company to add 13 points. Wipawee Srithong and super star Pleumjit Thinkaow scored 13 and 12 points respectively on Supreme Chonburi’s losing effort.

Against unbeaten Nakhon Ratchasima, Supreme fielded a formidable line-up which beat Choco Mucho in the quarter-finals on Monday including Sutudta Chuewulim and Pleumjit Thinkaow. Supreme made a strong start in the first set to tie 11-11 but shortly after that, they could not maintain their form. Nakhon Ratchasima gradually pulled their game together and took the first set 25-18.

Supreme tried to regain their composure in the second set, with Wipawee, Sutadta and Pleumjit uncorking powerful spikes, but Nakhon Ratchasima intensified their defence and fought back hard to capture the nail-biting set 25-22.

With Chatchu-on a constant threat from spike range and Karina Krauser’s blocking ability proved a thorn in the Supreme’s attacks, Nakhon Ratchasima made their mark in the third set. The momentum was with coach Thanakij Inleanng’s girls and they continued to put Supreme under enormous pressure in the set, where Nakhon Ratchasima stormed on to win the hotly-anticipated contest 25-18 and match.

Supreme Chonburi finished second at the previous edition in China in 2019, and the 21st edition here has taken the opportunity from them to preserve their chance to land the title. However, with their 3-1 win against Saipa in the preliminary Pool B match earlier, it’s possible that the Thai outfit will repeat the similar feat against the Iran’s Super League champions when they will face each other again in the bronze-medal match on Thursday.

“Even if we won the game, I think we had some trouble facing the difficult blocks of Supreme at the beginning, but we rapidly fixed this mistake so the game flowed smoothly as we planned”, Nakhon Ratchasima captain Nootsara Tomkom said.

“We have changed some players’ position so they need to adjust themselves a little bit at the game but overall they did well. We helped each other with perfect teamwork. I need to thank them for that. To play against Altay tomorrow, they have a good combination of strong players and taller figures than us. We need to improve both attacking and defensive games to beat them”.

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 4, 2021 – Supreme Chonburi, silver medalists at the previous edition in 2019 in Tianjin, China, proved a cut above Choco Mucho to beat the Philippine side in convincing straight sets in their quarterfinal match at the 2021 Asian Womens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall here on Monday.

Following the scintillating 25-13, 25-22, 25-21 win on Monday, Supreme advanced to the semifinals, where they will face off against Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC in the all-Thais affair.

Supreme aimed high to gain the pride lost on the previous day when they went down in straight sets to Kazakhstan’s Altay and the former consecutive two-time Asian Club winners entered the court with their heads high in confidence for the possible win.

“I was so glad that I can help the team win this crucial match today. Choco Mucho are a well-trained team and did their good job, which put us in trouble. Our team were in full confidence to win this match to pave the way through to the semifinals. In our next match, we play Nakhon Ratchasima. We know their game plan, but I don’t think we can underestimate them because they have a wide variety of game plans to use in their match against us,” Malika Kanthong stated after the match.

“We came with full confidence and one goal in mind, that is to advance to the semifinals. Even though Pleumjit was in her 70% of performance today, it helped boost the team’s spirit while in the game. After four matches, only one team from Thailand will make it to the final and I do hope it can be our team. I would like Thai fans to give big support for both Thai teams no matter which will be in the final,” Supreme Chonburi head coach Nataphon Srisamutnak commented.

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 3, 2021 – Altay emerged as Pool B winners following three straight wins including the Sundays stunning 3-0 victory against Supreme Chonburi, former consecutive two-time Asian Club winners, in their last preliminary round in the 2021 Asian Womens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall here.
