Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 1, 2021 – Former successive two-time Asian Club winners Supreme Chonburi of Thailand overpowered Irans Super League champions Saipa in dramatic four-setter 25-23, 22-25, 25-13, 25-13 for their first win in Pool B in the the 2021 Asian Womens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall on Friday.

Supreme Chonburi, which landed the Asian Club title two times in a row in 2017 and 2018, fielded a strong line-up led by powerful Wipawee Srithong and Waranya Srilaoong to beat Saipa 25-21 in the first set, thanks to their excellent teamwork and solid defense.

In the second set, both teams were levelled 15-15, but double aces of Soodabeh Bagherpour helped Saipa advance 19-16. However, Pleumjit Thinkaow saved the day for Supreme Chonburi when she produced sliding attacks to narrow the margin 18-19 after Supreme Chonburi’s head coach Nataphon Srisamutnak asked for timeout. Saipa blocked the Supreme Chonburi’s attacks and tore their defense apart with their attacks to close the closely-contested set 25-22.

Supreme Chonburi took an early lead 4-1 in the third set forcing the head coach of Saipa to call timeout to improve their fortunes. Still, Supreme Chonburi came up with their exceptional tactics and form to win the one-sided set 25-13.

Supreme Chonburi came into the court in the fourth set with the winning attitude as they took the lead 8-4 and left the Iranian side by wide margin 16-7 at the second technical time-out. The substitutions fielded by Saipa’s head coach Maryam Sadat Hashemi could not make any changes as their determined Thai rivals remained firm to take the comfortable set 25-13.

“It was quite a competitive game for us and we are a bit excited. We need to adjust ourselves with the game. In the first two sets, Saipa controlled the game by performing aggressively. Aside from being

strongly-built, they also utilised the height advantage against us. The Iranian team have developed their game a lot since last time we have met. Going down in the second set, we were not upset with the result because the game was not yet over. We tried to concentrate more on our game and learn to fix the mistakes. That’s what counts for the win,” Supreme’s captain Pleumjit Thinkaow commented after the match.

Beijing 2022 has presented to the IOC and IPC pandemic prevention and control policy principles regarding the Olympic and Pralympic Winter Games.

The Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee on Wednesday presented key COVID-19 countermeasures to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) meeting chaired by President Thomas Bach, in the presence of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) president Andrew Parsons.

According to the organizers, all athletes and games participants who are fully vaccinated will enter a closed-loop management system upon arrival. Games participants who are not fully vaccinated will have to serve a 21-day quarantine upon arrival in Beijing.

All vaccines recognized by World Health Organization or related international organizations, or approved officially by countries or regions concerned will be accepted. Athletes who can provide a justified medical exemption will have their cases considered.

The closed-loop management system, to be implemented from January 23, 2022 until the end of the Paralympics on March 13, will cover all games-related areas, including arrival and departure, transport, accommodation, catering, competitions, and the opening and closing ceremonies. Within the closed-loop, participants will be allowed to move only between games-related venues for training, competitions and work. A dedicated games transport system will be put in place.

All domestic and international Games participants and workforce in the closed-loop management system will be subject to daily testing.

As for the audience, Beijing 2022 organizers made it clear that tickets will be sold exclusively to spectators residing in China’s mainland who meet the requirements of COVID-19 countermeasures.

Beijing 2022 will release the first version of the Playbooks in late October and the second version in December. The related policies will be detailed in the Playbooks.

Beijing Olympics will allow some in-person fans, but only from mainland China #SootinClaimon.Com

Beijing Olympic organizers are planning to allow spectators in at least some events at the 2020 Winter Games, but tickets will be sold only to residents of mainland China, the IOC announced Wednesday.

China had been expected to allow fans at the 2022 Olympics and Paralympics, something Tokyo officials did not permit at this summer’s Games, citing concerns over rising coronavirus infections in a country with low vaccination rates. The announcement did not offer specifics about which events would have fans, saying that details remain under discussion.

The announcement also offered some details about Beijing Olympic organizers’ plan to create a bubble that it called a “closed loop management.” In this plan, anyone arriving at the Olympics – including athletes and coaches – will enter the bubble at the airport and be confined to a system of hotels, villages, training centers and competition venues fed by buses and trains dedicated only to the Olympics.

While no one will be able to leave the closed loop management, they will be allowed to move freely inside. Tokyo organizers had a looser bubble that permitted many non-athletes affiliated with the Games to travel openly around the city after being on-site for 14 days. Athletes, however, had strict limitations that kept them isolated from most other competitors and confined them to short stays in the Athletes Village. Beijing’s plan appears to let them stay in the village and socialize as they would at any other Olympics – with the stipulation that they don’t leave the bubble.

Everyone inside Beijing’s closed loop management will be tested daily, the announcement said.

Beijing organizers are placing a heavy emphasis on vaccinations. Wednesday’s announcement said any unvaccinated athlete will be forced to quarantine for 21 days upon arrival, though anyone with what the IOC called “a justified medical exception” will be able to have that exception considered.

Last week, the USOPC announced it will require all of its athletes at the winter Games to be vaccinated.

The Olympics start Feb. 4 and the Paralympics on March 4.

Beijing organizers will announce more details in a guide called a “Playbook” that is scheduled be released in late October. Another playbook is scheduled for December.

In the main event, #3-ranked lightweight Ok Rae Yoon stunned longtime titleholder Christian Lee to capture the ONE Lightweight World Championship.

Ok came out in his usual counterpunching style. Conversely, Lee was fast, sharp, and powerful to start the bout, connecting with a plethora of right hands while scoring on takedowns. Ok weathered the early storm from the young Singaporean-American, and he got stronger as the bout wore on.

In the third round, Ok rocked Lee, sending him reeling across the Circle. A counter right hand from Lee dropped the South Korean, and toward the end of the frame, “The Warrior” took Ok’s back and locked in a rear-naked choke under the chin.

In the headline bout of the ONE: REVOLUTION Lead Card, Team Lakay stalwart Lito Adiwang blasted fellow strawweight Hexigetu with a blitzkrieg of kicks and pummeled his opponent for three rounds to win a unanimous decision. The Filipino firecracker’s thrilling performance set the tone for an action-packed main card.
