Leicester City fans fell silent on Saturday in a heartfelt tribute to late owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha before the first home match since he was killed in a helicopter crash two weeks ago.

A special “Tribute to Khun Vichai” video was shown on big screens before kick-off against Burnley, two weeks after the tragedy, which took place moments after the helicopter had taken off from the pitch at the King Power Stadium.

A huge banner was unfurled reading: “Khun Vichai, Forever in our Hearts.”

Then the entire stadium fell silent, with fans turning the stands into a sea of white, holding aloft special scarves in memory of their late chairman and to remember servicemen and women killed in wars on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Earlier, supporters braved the pouring rain as they made their way through the streets towards the ground for the first home match since the tragedy holding Leicester flags and wearing club shirts, some with “Vichai” on the back.

There was a subdued atmosphere but pockets of chanting, including “We love you Leicester, we do”, “I’m Leicester till I die” and simply “Vichai”.

Under Vichai’s ownership, Leicester produced one of the biggest upsets in English football history by winning the 2015/16 Premier League, having started the season as 5,000-1 outsiders for the title.

Saturday’s walk was called the 5,000-1 walk in recognition of that astonishing achievement.

The charismatic Thai had become a beloved figure in the club and the city — a feat rarely achieved by Premier League clubs’ often distant billionaire owners.

“No chairman has done what he’s done with Leicester City. I respect all he’s done and not just for the football club, also charity-wise,” said fan Jake Tilson, 35. “He’s a legend.”

“I think football can learn from him and the way he gave to the local community.”

Another supporter, Don Martin, said: “It seems like it’s a celebration but it’s one of the saddest days for the club. It’s recognition for the chairman.

“I’m confident about the future. Top (Vichai’s son) and the rest of the family will carry on his father’s legacy. There is no doubt about that,” added the 57-year-old.

On Friday, the club announced plans to erect a statue of Vichai at the stadium.

His son Aiyawatt, the club’s vice-chairman who is known as Top, wrote in Saturday’s match programme: “We will never be able to repay what he did for us — for me as his son, us as his family, everyone connected to Leicester City and beyond — but we are committed to honouring his memory and upholding his legacy.”

Manager Claude Puel wrote: “He (Vichai) may not be here in person today but he will be here in spirit and we will carry his essence in our hearts.”

Vichai was among five people killed when the helicopter plunged to the ground in a car park just outside the stadium following Leicester’s match against West Ham on October 27.

The team, currently 10th in the Premier League, returned to action last weekend, beating Cardiff 1-0 away.

A number of players, including Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel, and manager Puel travelled to Thailand to attend Vichai’s funeral.

Schmeichel has been especially affected, having watched the helicopter take off from the pitch before it appeared to go into a fateful spin.

“I was on the pitch and I waved him off,” said Schmeichel. “I saw it all happen. It is something that will stay with me, unfortunately.”

Mourners have turned Leicester’s stadium into a shrine to Vichai, carpeting the ground with floral tributes and messages of thanks.

Stories have emerged of his acts of generosity to the club’s supporters and players and sizeable donations he made to local hospitals.

ONE Championship™ had another memorable and historic evening in the Lion City as the capacity crowd at the Singapore Indoor Stadium witnessed an amazing display of heart-pounding martial arts action.

ONE: HEART OF THE LION featured compelling bouts, including a highly-anticipated world title unification rematch that served as the centerpiece of the blockbuster card. In the main event, Kevin Belingon of the Philippines became the undisputed ONE Bantamweight World Champion, defeating Brazilian legend Bibiano Fernandes.

In the main event of the evening, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines ended the near-five year reign of now former belt holder Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes of Brazil to successfully unify the bantamweight titles. Belingon employed a terrific game plan, attacking Fernandes’ body with thudding spinning back kicks while connecting on fiery boxing combinations. Fernandes did his best to take the action to the ground, but Belingon showed much improved grappling skills. After five rounds of action, Belingon took home the victory via split decision and was crowned the undisputed ONE Bantamweight World Champion.

Kevin Belingon, newly-crowned undisputed ONE Bantamweight World Champion, stated: “Bibiano [Fernandes] is a very tough opponent, I really had a hard time beating him tonight. I respect him very much, and it is an honor to fight such a tough fighter. I know Bibiano is very tough, but I think I deserve this victory. The game plan was to knock him out. We saw [a weakness] in his previous fight. I kept on giving him everything, but he has good defense.”

In the co-main event of the evening, former ONE World Title challenger Christian “The Warrior” Lee gave fans at the Singapore Indoor Stadium a reason to celebrate after defeating Japan’s Kazuki Tokudome via technical knockout in the first round. Lee weathered Tokudome’s takedown efforts in the opening moments of the bout before landing a solid right straight that dropped his Japanese opponent to the canvas. Lee finished the task at hand by raining down piston-like ground shots, forcing the referee to step in and wave it off.

The legendary Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan once again showcased his exceptional kickboxing pedigree on the global stage, putting on a striking masterclass to defeat Muay Thai star Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy via unanimous decision. Petrosyan overwhelmed Sorgraw with his world-class boxing skills, unloading a barrage of thunderous punches while also displaying impeccable defense. After three rounds of action, Petrosyan was declared the winner, further extending his remarkable streak of victories.

Female strawweight contenders Tiffany “No Chill” Teo of Singapore and Michelle Nicolini of Brazil put on an absolute show to the delight of a packed Singapore Indoor Stadium crowd. For 15 minutes, Teo and Nicolini gave everything they had and left it all inside the cage. While Nicolini showcased her world-class grappling, it was Teo who kept her opponent on the end of some powerful striking combinations. After three rounds of gruelling action, Teo took home the hard-earned victory by unanimous decision.

Australia’s Adrian “The Hunter” Pang triumphantly returned to the winner’s circle with a technical knockout victory over Japan’s Kota Shimoishi. Pang, showcasing his incredible toughness and durability, punished Shimoishi both on the feet and on the ground with heavy strikes in the first round. Unfortunately, Shimoishi was unable to answer the call for the second round, and Pang was awarded the stoppage win.

Two-division Lion Fight World Champion “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut overcame a tremendous size disadvantage to pick apart Scotland’s George Mann en route to a dominant unanimous decision victory. The smaller Nattawut did a masterful job of negating the much taller Mann’s reach by connecting on blistering combinations to keep the lanky Scotsman at bay from the first round to the final frame. In the end, Nattawut’s clinical display of technical striking was enough to have his hand raised in triumph.

Three-time IFMA Champion Alaverdi Ramazanov of Russia made quick work of Scotland’s Andrew Miller, winning by knockout in just 57 seconds. Miller came out aggressively, throwing combinations that had the 23-year-old Russian striker moving backwards. As his cage counterpart pressed the action, Alaverdi patiently picked his shots before he drilled his opponent with a flurry of punches that ended with a well-placed right uppercut to shut the lights off on Miller for the victory.

Grappling superstar Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon emerged triumphant in a featherweight contest against South Korea’s Sung Jong Lee. The multiple-time BJJ world champion showcased a much-improved striking arsenal for the majority of the bout before taking matters to the ground midway through the second round. On the mat, Tonon displayed his dangerous submission skills, quickly and effortlessly locking in the guillotine choke to claim the victory.

Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke returned to his winning form against Himanshu Kaushik, submitting his Indian opponent with a rear-naked choke in the second round. Dejdamrong dominated all throughout the contest, drenching Kaushik with his Muay Thai combinations while controlling the action on the ground. After taking Kaushik’s back in the second frame, Dejdamrong sunk in the bout-ending maneuver to force the tap.

In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai Bantamweight contest, highly-decorated kickboxers Muangthai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym of Thailand and Panicos Yusuf of Cyprus put on an incredible striking showcase. Both men employed fiery offense from bell to bell, with Muangthai utilizing his speed and power to connect on a handful of thudding strikes on Yusuf, who was knocked down in the first round. Banking on his solid hooks, Yusuf managed to keep the bout competitive in the second and third frames. After going back-and-forth for three rounds, Muangthai was declared the victor by unanimous decision.

Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo of Japan scored his second consecutive win on the ONE Championship stage, overpowering Malaysian dynamo Muhammad “Jungle Cat” Aiman with a masterful grappling performance. Kamikubo did not miss a beat over three rounds, rattling his opponent with his ground-and-pound for the majority of the contest. Kamikubo punctuated his performance by grinding out Aiman in the final round, steering himself to a unanimous decision victory.

China’s “The Stalker” Xie Bin marched to victory inside the ONE Championship cage, submitting Hisyam Samsudin of Malaysia in the first round. After pressuring his opponent on the offensive end, Xie wasted no time in scoring on a takedown in the opening moments of the contest. Once the action hit the canvas, Xie effortlessly secured dominant position, capitalizing on Samsudin’s inferior grappling defense to fasten a tight D’arce choke that put his opponent to sleep.

Setting the tone for an action-packed evening was a featherweight bout between Indonesian-Dutch standout Anthony “The Archangel” Engelen and Cambodia’s Meas Meul. Engelen made a triumphant return to ONE Championship, knocking out Meul in the first round. He needed just 39 seconds to get the victory, turning the lights out on Meul with a thunderous high kick.

Mexico’s 136th-ranked Gaby Lopez celebrated the biggest victory of her career on Saturday when she triumphed at the $2.1 million Blue Bay LPGA in China.

An emotional Lopez beat off world number one Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand and a late challenge from France’s Celine Boutier for her maiden victory on the US-based LPGA Tour.

Lopez carded a final-round 73 to go eight under for the tournament on the island of Hainan — where wind has been a factor all week — and a one-stroke win.

She was drenched in water by her rivals and wiped away tears at the end.

Lopez had marked her 25th birthday on Friday by hitting a hole-in-one at the 17th hole and grabbing the third-round lead.

Jutanugarn finished second on seven under and Boutier, ranked 150th in the world, was third, a further shot back, after shooting a sparkling six-under-par 66.

There was a tie for fourth between Danielle Kang of the United States and South Korea’s Kim Sei-young.

Hot-shot Adisak Kraisorn fired six goals to spearhead Thailand to a demolition 7-0 win over Timor Leste in their AFF Suzuki Cup Group B opening game at the Rajamangala National Stadium on Friday.

The 27-year-old player of Muangthong United produced four goals in the first half before adding two more in the second as the defending champions got off their title defence campaign in style. Supachai Jaided then added the seventh goal for Thailand in the 91st minute, his first international goal.

The Milovan Rajevac’s side will play host to Indonesia in their second match on November 17 while the islanders will next visit the Philippines on the same day.

Gaby Lopez hit a 183-yard hole-in-one as she surged into the lead of the $2.1 million Blue Bay LPGA in China to celebrate her birthday in style Friday.

The Mexican’s ace on the par-three 17th hole helped her leapfrog world number one Ariya Jutanugarn on Hainan island and Lopez — ranked a lowly 136th — is in pole position for her first title on the US-based LPGA Tour with one round to play.

Lopez’s feat was all the more satisfying because it was her 25th birthday and she had turned around after making the tee shot, not appearing to know what she had accomplished until her caddie gleefully told her.

Cue high fives all round, including with overnight leader Jutanugarn.

“As soon as the ball left the club I knew it was a good shot, but I couldn’t see because the sun was in my face,” Lopez said.

“I turned around and my caddie goes, ‘It went in.’

“I’m like, ‘No way!'”

A cameraman confirmed the ball had rolled straight in.

“I couldn’t give myself a better birthday present,” said Lopez, who was presented afterwards with two cakes.

Lopez, who was joint second going into the third round, carded a six-under-par 66 to go nine under for the tournament, a one-shot lead on Thailand’s Jutanugarn.

The South Korean pair of Park Sung-hyun and Kim Sei-young were tied third on a distant four under.

Moriya Jutanugarn, Ariya’s sister, fell from tied second overnight to a share of seventh after a disappointing 74.

VARANYU CLOSES OUT WIRE-TO-WIRE VICTORY AT COMBIPHAR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP

sports November 09, 2018 18:17

Bali –  Thailand’s Varanyu Rattanaphiboonkij held his nerves to complete a wire-to-wire Asian Development Tour (ADT) victory for the second time this season at the US$100,000 Combiphar Players Championship on Friday.

Varanyu, who had led from start to finish for his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) title in May, closed with a two-under-par 70 and a 15-under-par 273 total to win by one shot over Janne Kaske of Finland at the New Kuta Golf in Bali.

The 21-year-old Varanyu became the first player to win more than once on the region’s secondary circuit this season, following his triumph in what is the penultimate event of the 2018 schedule.

His victory, which saw him take home a winner’s prize purse of US$17,500, would also catapult him to second place on the ADT Order of Merit and grab one of the seven Asian Tour cards on offer for the 2019 season.

“It’s unbelievable. I just signed up for the Asian Tour Qualifying School two weeks ago and now I got my card through the ADT! I thought I didn’t have the chance after my front nine because I was one-over and Janne was three-under.

“But I told myself to just keep playing and try my best. It’s good that I played with Donlaphatchai. I feel more relaxed having another Thai playing in the same group. That helped calm me down a bit,” said Varanyu.

After trading one birdie against two bogeys to turn in 37, Varanyu made a strong rebound with three birdies on 10, 14 and 15 before making some crucial par saves on his way home.

“I made a long par putt from about 13 feet on the 16 and I hit a good shot from a difficult lie to about five feet to save par on the par-four 17. Then on the 18th hole, I had like two putts to win,” added Varanyu, who turned professional in 2015.

Kaske, a two-time Asian Tour winner, battled to a 70 to take second place while American Justin De Los Santos finished five shots back of Varanyu in third following a 68. Malaysia’s Shariffuddin Ariffin carded a 70 to settle a further shot back in fourth on 279.

Miguel Carballo of Argentina continues to lead the ADT Order of Merit with a season’s haul of US$41,713 while Varanyu trails by US$8,290 in second. Nitithorn Thippong of Thailand, who missed the halfway cut this week, slipped to third.

Despite missing out on the victory, Kaske would move to fourth place on the money list thanks to his runner-up finish. American Han Lee, South African Mathiam Keyser and Itthipat Buranatanyarat of Thailand sits in fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively.

All ADT events offer Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. Varanyu will receive six OWGR points thanks to his win and the top six players and ties will also earned points based on a sliding scale.

The 2018 ADT season will culminate at the PGM Maybank Championship, which will be held at the Saujana Golf and Country Club in Malaysia from November 28 to December 1.

Leading final round scores:

273 – Varanyu Rattanaphiboonkij (THA) 67 67 69 70

274 – Janne Kaske (FIN) 71 64 69 70

Phukethon returns to Phuket this weekend

sports November 09, 2018 18:15

By Agencies

The second edition of “Phukethon” will take place from November 10-11 at Saphan Hin in Phuket.

Phuket, under collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the Athletic Association of Thailand, the Umay+ cash card, the Sponsor electrolyte beverage, and globally-renowned event organizer, MOVE ASIA, once again shows its potential as one of Asia’s sports cities with the second consecutive occasion of Phukethon, which takes place on 10-11 November 2018 at Saphan Hin in Phuket. Worldwide long-distance marathoners are invited to join the event in three distance categories: THE CAPE, THE BAY, and THE OLD TOWN, as the race aims to be awarded with the Bronze Label in 2020.

Mr. Pakapong Tawipat, Governor of Phuket, which is the host city; Mr. Virat Patee, Director Sports Authority of Thailand Phuket; Mr. Sompong Anekvisudwong, Senior Vice President of EASY BUY Public Company Limited; Mr. Nattisiri Chontisirisin, Marketing Department Manager for the Sponsor electrolyte beverage; and Mr. Boonperm Intanapasan, Managing Director of MOVE ASIA, the rights owner of the event, announced the organization of Phukethon 2018 at a press conference on 9 November 2018, at Saphan Hin, Phuket, before Thailand biggest international marathon festival takes place on 10-11 November.

Mr. Pakapong Tawipat, Governor of Phuket, speaks of the province’s hosting the event that, “Phukethon was held for the first time last year with overwhelming success, so we want to build on that achievement and improve the race event better, thanks to collaboration with all relevant parties, and the public and private sectors, as Phuket aims to fully become a leading sports city of ASEAN. More than 10,000 marathoners have already applied for the race this year, with the number of foreign participants three times higher from 200 marathoners in our first year to 800 this year, including international elite marathoners, particularly those from Japan. So, this is an important occasion for us to show that we are ready to host a running event with the standards of the Bronze Label within two years. Not only will this prove our potential, but it will also bring numerous benefits for the province and the country”

Mr. Virat Patee, Director Sports Authority of Thailand Phuket, says that “the good thing is Thailand continuously host sports events of international standards. As a government agency, we believe benefits for Phuket and Thailand will be overwhelming, including a strong image at a global stage and stimulation of the country’s economy, because these marathoners will spend and travel for several days in Thailand. This year, the Ministry and the SAT jointly arrange the SAT PHUKETHON RUNNING EXPO on 9-10 November, where running and exercise products of more than 30 leading brands will be offered at discounted prices.”

Mr. Boonperm Intanapasan, Managing Director of MOVE ASIA, the rights owner of the event, says of this year’s Phukethon that, “we have dedicated all of our resources to create a perfect running event. The three distances categories are certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the Asian Athletics Association(AAA), and the Athletic Association of Thailand. We have hydrogen treatment to help marathoners recover, and we will provide energy gel, water stations throughout the routes, cooling zones with pools of cold water and water at a normal temperature, Sponsors Ice Spa for marathoners who have crossed the finish line, safety and security, and first-aid and medical treatments. The races will be divided into two days to avoid congestion. So, we are confident that the event will be even better this year, which will give us a boost as we aim for the Bronze Label by 2020.”

Phukethon 2018 will start and finish at Saphan Hin, an old park with a long history, where marathoners will greet their new day with the sight of the sunrise and the touch of sea breeze in fresh air. There are three challenging distance categories: THE CAPE, or 42.195 km. full marathon, in the temperature of 20-25 °C on a hilly route that will take marathoners to Cape Panwa, one of the world’s top lookouts; THE BAY, or 21.1 km. half-marathon, with the U-turn at Visit Panwa Pier at Makham Bay; and THE OLD TOWN, or 10km. mini-marathon, on the route where marathoners will turn back time to enjoy the view of ancient Sino-Portuguese buildings.

The four-day festival will begin with the SAT PHUKETHON RUNNING EXPO on 9-10 November. THE OLD TOWN, or 10km. mini-marathon, will take place in the morning of 10 November, and the afternoon will be the time for the UMAY+ CLEAN THE BEACH activity to clean the running route on the beach, the 5km. UMAY+ JELLY BEACH RUN at Nai Harn Beach , and the COLOUR FUN RUN activity at Thanyapura. THE CAPE, or 42.195 km. full marathon; and THE BAY, or 21.1 km. half-marathon, will start on 11 November. On 12 November, there will be another friendly run and donation will be made to the “PHUKETHON x KAO with Toon Bodyslam” project. Hong Kong – The race to become Asia’s number one golfer is set to heat up when the HONMA Hong Kong Open presented by Amundi gets underway at the Hong Kong Golf Club from November 22-25.

With more than 30 Asian Tour champions from over 15 countries expected to tee up at the US$2 million event, the fierce battle for supremacy on the Hong Kong Golf Club’s composite Championship Course in Fanling is poised to be a highly charged one.

India’s Shubhankar Sharma leads the Habitat for Humanity standings by slightly more than US$130,000 over second-placed Sanghyun Park of Korea and with the winner’s purse worth US$333,330, the claim for pole position is still wide open.

Sharma, who finished tied-10th at the Hong Kong Open last year, is ready to cement his position atop the standings after enjoying an outstanding season which has seen him win his second Asian Tour title in Malaysia in February and posting several impressive results globally.

Sharma also played in all four Majors this year and finished tied-ninth at the World Golf Championships in Mexico, having led in the second and third rounds.

“This year has been a huge learning curve for me. I’ve played in some of the biggest events I could ever imagine and learned a lot.

“I’ll be playing Hong Kong and the next few events after that. So I’m looking forward to playing well now. It’s high time.  It’s the end of the year now and I feel like I’ve to do my best to have a chance to win the Order of Merit and I’ll try and do that,” said the Indian.

Sharma will have to fend off the challenges of several of his closest rivals including South Africa’s Justin Harding, who has also enjoyed a standout season with two wins and two top-five finishes in only six starts on the Asian Tour.

“It has been a nice year, casually moving up and up as I continue to put together some nice results. I guess I can say I’ve been going places.

“I didn’t really expect this when I played my first event out here. I can’t really explain it. It’s a matter of taking each round as it comes and giving myself chances come Sunday.

“It’s just a matter of trying to minimise mistakes throughout the year. You have your weeks when you make a couple more than most. I manage to minimize that,” said Harding.

The HONMA Hong Kong Open is tri-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, European Tour and the Hong Kong Golf Association. It also marks the start of the European Tour’s 2019 Race to Dubai.

The tournament will welcome the return of defending champion Wade Ormsby of Australia and also feature reigning Masters champion Patrick Reed, 2017 Green Jacket winner Sergio Garcia as well as world number 10 Tommy Fleetwood of England.

Thailand’s national coach Milovan Rajevac is vowing that his players will take a serious approach into today’s game against Timor-Leste (East Timor) as the five-time champions launch their AFF Suzuki Cup defence at Rajamangala National Stadium.

Although the islanders are not predicted to pose much of a threat in the tournament, the Serbian coach will send out his strongest line-up to ensure they secure three points ahead of tougher group B tasks against Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore.

“We are the favourites but we must not underestimate any team,” said Rajevac. “We have respect for every team and we take every match seriously. We will never be safe throughout the match until the final outcome.”

Friday’s game (kickoff 7pm), which will be shown live on Channel 7, is theoretically an away game for Thailand but Timor have opted to play all their matches offshore.

“I have faith in all my players. We have strong players in every position who can deliver good results. It’s important that we play our own style,” said Rajevac.

He is more concerned with the remaining games with Indonesia on November 17 in Bangkok, Philippines on November 21 in Bacolod and Singapore on November 25 in Bangkok.  Only the top two in each of the two groups will advance to the semi-finals.

“The way we handle the remaining matches is important. We will play according to our game plan and expect a positive outcome for our team,” the Serbian coach added.

“We’ve done everything according to the plan and have a good preparation. We are completely ready for the first match against Timor Leste,” he added

For new team’s captain Chalermpong Kerdkaew, he admitted was under a bit pressure to be assigned as the skipper but is confident over two week training would lead his team to another success in the Cup.

“We have enough time training together and have two good friendly game wins coming to the Cup.  We are very enthusiastic and confident we can win,” the 31-year-old defence said.

For Timor Leste’s coach Norio Tsukiate of Japan, he admitted was a bit disappointed his side would miss a chance to test their mettle against three Thai stars (Teerasil Dangda, Chanathip Songkrasin and Teerathon Boonmatan) who are committed with their duties at the J-League.

Ahead of the match, a minute silence will be observed to pay respect to Leicester City’s owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprapha who was killed two weeks ago in a helicopter accident at the King Power Stadium.

World No 1 Ariya seizes LPGA lead in China ahead of sister

Thailand’s world number one Ariya Jutanugarn seized the outright lead at the halfway stage of the $2.1 million Blue Bay LPGA in China on Thursday — with her sister in hot pursuit.

Ariya carded four-under-par 68 to go seven under for the tournament in blustery Hainan, an island in southern China, with sister Moriya tied in second and four shots off.

Moriya, who at age 24 is 16 months older than her sibling, shared second place with Jennifer Song of the United States and Mexico’s Gaby Lopez.

Ariya is chasing an 11th victory on the US-based LPGA Tour and, having started the day in joint second, surged to the summit with seven birdies against three bogeys.

Ariya said that she has a combustible relationship with Moriya, but is relishing the prospect of fighting it out with her sister on the golf course.

“I think (it is) going to be so much fun,” she said.

“We stay together this week… we woke up same time like both days already. We walk to the course together.

“I think we (are) very nice to each other when we’re on the golf course, but off the golf course I think we (are) not nice to each other.”

Song, ranked 48th in the world, said she enjoyed playing the role of hunter.

“I’m excited, I think I play better when I’m chasing from behind,” she said.

Overnight leader Thidapa Suwannapura, another Thai, struggled in the hot and windy conditions and shot a 75, falling to tied sixth.
