Shopaholics also found themselves rummaging through trendy shops in the Fashion zone. And the festival was not only about entertainment, but also highlighted the importance of eco-consumption.

This first-ever trash-free concert put a focus on sorting and recycling trash with sorting bins located throughout the site. Another exclusive ‘Meet & Trash’ activity gave the audience an opportunity to mingle with celebrities like Pitchanart “May” Sakakorn, Virithipa “Woonsen” Pakdeeprasong, and Ray McDonald who were there to promote trash segregation and waste recycling. In addition to the 2 days of fun, Coke made sure the festival gave this new generation of concert-goers a brand-new experience.

Panasonic Group in Thailand recently announced the winners of its “Panasonic Kid Witness News 2018” project

The winner in the primary school category is “Inside Me” from Anuban Saraburi School while that in the secondary school category is “Sport for Living” from Ammartphanichnukul School, Krabi. Both teams received a trophy, scholarships worth Bt50,000 and Bt20,000 towards the school’s activity and will also represent Thailand in the international competition in Japan in next year.

Organised annually for 15 years, the project gives the opportunity to young people to show their talents by submitting video clips focusing on the environment, communication and sport.

Sixteen teams are then chosen to join the development workshop for the final round.

The “Inside Me” piece is the story of kid named Satang who lacks self-confidence and feels she is not competent in a world where kids are judged on their test results. Satang is inspired by Rung, a child with a hearing disability who uses art to communicate with others. Rung makes Satang understand that discovering her own capabilities will play an important role in bringing her to success.

“Sport for Living” is the true story of a grade 12 student called Rak, who jogs in the morning before school, practises his boxing skills then picks his mother up from her job as a dishwasher at a som tum restaurant before going back for boxing training. He also spars for real in the boxing ring four times a month to raise money to cover the rent, his sister’s tuition fees, the family expenses and the medical fees of his father. Eventually the burden causes Rak to skip school but after hearing about the daily schedule, the teachers and fellow students go out of their way to help him.

“We intend to distribute part of the reward to him as well,” says Pirawit Engchuan, representative of the winning team.

Four honourable rewards were also handed out. The Best Story Telling Award for “I can(not) read” went to Baan Dong Moo School, Kalasin; The Best Cinematography Award for “Bird Walk” to Montfort College, Chiang Mai; The Best Creativity Award for “Future Style” to Udon Phittayanukul School, Udon Thani; and the Best Concept Award for “I know ….. conservation” to Baan Huay Plao School, Uthai Thani. Each team received a trophy, scholarships worth Bt10,000 and Bt2,000 for school activities.

“We have seen major improvements in the students’ capabilities every year. The KWN 2017 winners from Thailand won three awards at the international competition “Panasonic KWN Global Contest 2018” at Tokyo, Japan, namely the Grand Prix of Primary Category, together with The Best K-Factor Award for Anuban Saraburi School and The Best Documentary Award for Assumption Thonburi College. We are proud of our youngsters,” says Kesorn Wangwongwiroj – Director of Planning, Panasonic Management (Thailand) Co Ltd.

Nothing like a good night’s sleep

event December 18, 2018 15:00

By The Nation

A recent research study conducted by the Department of Public Health found that 3040 per cents of Thais have inadequate sleep and 10 per cent face a chronic insomnia problem, which may affect the process of thinking and analysis, significantly decreasing efficiency at work.

Because sleeping is such a crucial part of life, Kridchanok Patamasatayasonthi, managing director, Index Living Mall ltd, recently introduced “Perfect Sleep” at Index Living Mall, Bang Na branch.

The event honoured by Gregory Wong, Commercial Counsellor at the US Embassy in Bangkok and Jeffrey Bergman, president and COO of PureCare, along with numerous health conscious celebrities. The brand also introduced actress Kimberley Anne Woltemas, as brand ambassador.

Kimberley joined the talk with experts about quality sleep, together with Dr.Wanwiput Sanphansitvong, a physician at the Vitallife Wellness Centre of Bumrungrad International Hospital, Warisa Chanbun, of the Mind Home Clinic, Yossinee Nanakorn and Teerapat Sajakul.

“Perfect Sleep”, created as a sleep solution centre in a OneStop Service format, emphasises solving problems and generating quality sleep. Apart from products of worldstandard quality, “Perfect Sleep” also provides physiotherapists specialised in ergonomic science as consultants to those facing sleep problems. The research notes that adequate rest is not only about having 78 hours sleep per day, but is also dependent on other factors, such as sleep position, bedroom decoration, the features of mattress, scent, light, noise and even bedding accessories. All these elements enable quality sleep and allow both body and mind to rest.

“At Index, we have many customers inquiring how on how to choose the right bedding product to have better sleep. We also became aware of just how many people are facing problems with their sleep. This finding generated the idea of creating a service area at our Bang Na branch to address sleep solutions through a full product range for all body types as well as offerings a consulting service provided by professional physiotherapists,” says Kridchanok.

Pichapim Patamasatayasonthi, vice president of product development, added: “The service starts with three easy steps. The first is a quiz on the sleeping lifestyle of each individual to get data to compare with products that fit. The next step is to consult with physiotherapists who will advise on the proper sleep position for each person, while the last step is the monitoring process with equipment guaranteed by the global medical society for finding the proper mattress and pillow with Sleep Scanning. This equipment can be used to detect the body pressure against the mattress, and displays vivid visuals of the spots that undergo the most pressure. The visuals are then turned into numbers and finally our experts will explain the right bedding solutions to support the body best while asleep.”
