ONE Championship™ (ONE) returned to the Singapore Indoor Stadium with ONE: FIRST STRIKE, which aired live on Friday, 15 October. The event featured an all-kickboxing card for the first time in ONE history, highlighted by the prestigious ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix quarterfinal round and a battle for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title.

In the main event, #2-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender Superbon of Thailand overpowered #1-ranked contender and legendary Italian-Armenian striker Giorgio Petrosyan to win by spectacular second-round knockout.

Petrosyan was calculated to start the bout, moving forward with precise boxing combinations, while Superbon looked to land his vaunted right kick.

After a cautious first round, action picked up in the second, with Petrosyan pushing to close the distance. Following a heated exchange, Superbon unleashed a dynamite right kick to the head, connecting with Petrosyan’s chin and scoring the emphatic finish.

Another left hand from Grigorian in round two put Souwer on the seat of his pants. This time, the Dutch legend signaled to the referee that he could no longer continue.

Sirjan Foulad Iranian on Thursday cruised past hosts Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC in thrilling three-setter to set up a rematch with Al-Arabi Sports Club in the final showdown of the 2021 Asian Mens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall.

Iran is defending and 14 time Asian Club champions, with Shahrdari Varamin stunning Japan’s Panasonic Panthers 3-2 to reign supreme in the previous edition two years ago in Chinese Taipei (The 2020 edition was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic).

Among the Iranian teams winning this topflight competition, Paykan Tehran took 7 titles (2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), Shahrdari Varamin (2014, 2019) and Sarmayeh Bank Tehran (2016, 2017) bagged 2 each, while Senam Tehran (2004), Kalleh Mazandaran (2013) and Khatam Ardakan (2018) claimed one title apiece.

With the sensational 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-22) win against reigning and six-time Thailand League winners Nakhon Ratchasima on Thursday, the Iran’s Premier League champions Sirjan Foulad Iranian became the 8th club team from Iran to compete in the final showdown of the Asia’s biggest annual club volleyball competition.

In their highly-anticipated clash against Nakhon Ratchasima, Mojtaba Gholizad scored a match-high 16 points for Sirjan including 11 attacks from 16 attempts, three blocks and 2 aces, while Mahdi Jelveh and left-hander Saber Kazemi contributed 10 points apiece for the winning team. Amorntep Konhan led the host side with 12 points including 11 kills and one block.

Nakhon Ratchasima advanced to the semifinals of the championship for the first time ever following their second-placed finish in Pool A. With only top two teams from each pool advancing to the cross semifinals, Nakhon Ratchasima, which finished 9th in 2015 and 6th in 2018, challenged Pool A winners Sirjan Foulad Iranian in the Thursday’s semifinals.

Sirjan Foulad Iranian made a strong start and put up a good fight to win the first set 25-19. The second set was incredibly close with neither side able to break clear from the beginning, but it was the Iranians who led 8-6. From then, the on-going battle turned out to be a very tight contest. Sirjan Foulad Iranian performed superbly to clinch the hotly-contested set 25-23.

The third set was the similar script when both sides tried their best to topple each other. As Mahdi Jelveh and Mojtaba Gholizad tore the Thais defence into pieces with their mighty attacks, Nakhon Ratchasima dropped their rhythm and started to come up with poor reception. Sirjan remained in irresistible form to take three points ahead at 22-19. Despite a serious threat from the hosts, the Iranians still had enough to hold the rivals off before winning 25-22.

With the win, Sirjan Foulad Iranian now go up against 2012 Asian Club winners Al-Arabi Sports Club of Qatar, the team they had already beaten 3-1 in the preliminary Pool B match earlier, in a final clash of the Titans on Friday, the last day of the one-week competition.

Kazma Sport Club faced a daunting task against Diamond Food to pull off a dramatic four-set win in their 5th-8th playoff match at the 2021 Asian Mens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall on Thursday.

The hard-fought 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21 win in this crucial match handed Kazma Sport Club from Kuwait, a side packed with talents including Dominican star spiker Elvis Contreras and Abdulaziz Shakir Saleem and Abdulrahman Yousif Almutawa, both of them joined the Kuwait national team at the last month’s Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship in Japan, a second chance to take on old foes South Gas Club. The Iraqi side had already defeated Kazma Sport Club in close battle 2-3 in the preliminary Pool A clash earlier.

Karma Sport Club and South Gas Club will fight it out in the 5th-6th place in a revenge clash on Friday, the last day of the one-week-long competition, while Dimond Food will challenge AGMK, the team they had already beaten 3-2 in the pool plays earlier, for the 7th position in this Championship.

Superbon Dreams of Superfight With Irish Superstar Conor McGregor: I can beat him down very easily #SootinClaimon.Com

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

Muay Thai kickboxing superstar Superbon is feeling brash and confident ahead of his blockbuster matchup against legendary Italian-Armenian fighter Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan this Friday night, 15 October, at ONE: First Strike. At stake is the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title.

Needless to say, there’s a lot on the line for the Thai bet.

However, reacting to the recent announcement of a ‘special mixed rules’ showdown between multiple-time flyweight MMA world champion Demetrious Johnson and Superbon’s Thai countryman Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the 31-year-old can’t help but look a little past the Petrosyan fight and dream of his own ‘special rules’ matchup.

“It’s very difficult to answer this question because I have never tried MMA yet but if you ask me I would say, probably, Conor McGregor because I think I can beat him down very easily,” Superbon said.

A showdown between Superbon and McGregor would no doubt be fireworks, with the former’s Muay Thai striking style, and the latter’s flashy taekwondo and western boxing mashup. Superbon is intrigued by ONE Championship’s hybrid rules setup to say the least.

“It’s quite a new thing for me because I never saw this kind of mixed rule before,” Superbon said.

“Rodtang is good in Muay Thai while DJ is quite great in MMA. They got the things that they needed to do. If I have a chance like that I would also be interested in it but I don’t know when but I would love to do that.”

Dream as he may, however, Superbon has a tremendous test that lies before him, perhaps the toughest test of his career. Petrosyan is not a man to be underestimated, and looked over. Many regard him as the “Michael Jordan of kickboxing,” for his incredible skills in the sport.

Moreover, they call Petrosyan “The Doctor” because of his technical precision. It would be wise for Superbon to take his foe seriously. Nevertheless, Superbon remains unfazed, and even says he isn’t at all too worried about Petrosyan’s reputation.

“For me, I would say he is a fighter. He does what he needs to do. I do respect him, I do respect what people want him to be. If they want him to be a legend, let’s call him a legend,” Superbon said.

“But for me, he is an athlete and it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any weaknesses. I still see his weakness and I just want to try and win over that. And to just know who is the best in this fight.”

Also at ONE: First Strike is the commencement of the 2021 ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix, where eight of the world’s best featherweight kickboxers do battle for the right to challenge for the throne.

The first match of this 50-per-cent capacity allowance is the one on Saturday (October 17), between Buriram United FC and Nakhon Ratchasima FC.

To watch the sports match, persons must show ID cards and certificates of inoculation of Covid-19 vaccine to the stadium’s staff.

Diamond Food head coach Somboon Nakpung said after the match, “We need to rest key players today and that’s the reason why we put young players on court so they can gain more experience in the Asian-level competition. As far as I see my players compete, they were not good at service reception and defense. It’s hard to close the match. We need to be much tougher to meet Sirjan Foulad Iranian tomorrow.”
