Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence after refusing to come on and storming down the Manchester United tunnel before the final whistle against Tottenham.
The Old Trafford legend was slammed for leaving the bench before United’s 2-0 win over Spurs had even ended.
As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed. I’m the same person and the same professional that I’ve been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always played a very important role in my decision making process.
I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me. Therefore, later on, I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented. Unfortunately that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment get’s the best of us.
Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game. Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we’ll be together again.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be left out of Manchester United’s squad to face Chelsea, the club said on Thursday after the Portugal international walked out of the team’s 2-0 win over Tottenham before the final whistle.
United manager Erik ten Hag said after Wednesday’s walkout at Old Trafford that he would “deal with” Ronaldo a day later.
“Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea,” United said in a statement on Thursday. “The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
Ronaldo headed to the changing room after being left as an unused substitute in the match.

Erik ten Hag said he will “deal with” Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday, after the striker stormed out of a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur as an unused substitute on Wednesday.

Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil star Neymar give evidence in a Spanish court on Tuesday (18th October), over alleged irregularities involving his transfer to Barcelona in 2013.
Neymar’s parents, former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell and representatives for both the Spanish club and Brazilian team Santos are also set to appear in court after a complaint brought by Brazilian investment group DIS regarding the proportion they received of the player’s transfer.
All defendants have denied wrongdoing.
The trial comes nearly a month before the World Cup opens on 20th November in Qatar. It is expected to last until the end of the month.
Neymar and his father face corruption charges and prison sentences of up to two years. They also face a fine of 10 million euros (US$ 9.7 million). Rosell faces five years in prison on fraud and corruption charges, plus a fine of 10 million euros (US$ 9.7 million).
DIS contend that they were entitled to 40 per cent of Neymar’s transfer but received a smaller amount than they were due because part of the transfer fee was concealed. Prosecutors say those involved tried to hide the real amount of the transfer in order to pay a lower commission to the investment group.
Neymar Jr. told the court he didn’t take part in any of the transfer negotiations between Santos and Barcelona.
“It was all done by my father,” he said. “He has always taken care of my business and always will. I always sign everything he asks me to.”

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez gave testimony on Tuesday in a fraud and corruption trial involving Neymar and several others, who are accused of concealing the transfer fee paid in the Brazil international’s move from Santos to Barcelona almost a decade ago.
Perez, testifying via video conference, said he didn’t know Neymar personally but admitted his club were interested in signing the player in 2013, making offers of €30-million ($29.54-million US dollars) and €45-million euros (44.31-million US dollars).
Florentino Perez, Real Madrid president: “I knew from Real Madrid’s sports management of the player’s interest in leaving Santos FC, but I didn’t know anything else. I didn’t talk to him or anybody else about this issue.”
Q “In 2011, was Real Madrid willing to pay the termination clause to Santos FC to sign the player?”
“I don’t know about the clause. But in 2011, as it is registered in the case file, Real Madrid made Santos FC an offer for the player.”
Q: “Do you know the amount?”
“It’s in the case file. I think it’s 45-million euros, because I just saw it in the case file.”
Q “What happened then? Why in the end did the player not go to Real Madrid?”
“Well, players go wherever they want to. And in this case I think Neymar Jr. wanted to go to Barcelona. So he went to Barcelona.”
Q: “Did Real Madrid make an offer for 60-million euros in 2011 to acquire the player?”
“I think that in 2011 the offer was for 45-million euros, more or less. That is the only offer in the club’s records.”
Neymar’s move to Camp Nou landed Barcelona in trouble with Spain’s tax office a few years ago, when investment group DIS announced they hadn’t received their 40 per cent of the transfer as the full fee had been concealed.
France’s Kante ruled out of World Cup after hamstring surgery

France international N’Golo Kante has been ruled out of the World Cup finals after undergoing an operation on a hamstring injury, his Premier League club Chelsea said on Tuesday (October 18).
The midfielder, who played a pivotal role in Les Bleus’s winning campaign in 2018, suffered a setback in the final stages of his recovery last week and has now been ruled out for four months after the surgery.
Kante’s early season has been marred by the hamstring problem that has now ruled him out of selection for the Nov. 20 – Dec. 18 World Cup in Qatar.
The 31-year-old has only featured in two Premier League games and played a total of 175 minutes this season.
“The midfielder visited a specialist with the club’s medical department to explore the options for his rehabilitation approach and it was mutually agreed for N’Golo to have surgery to repair the damage,” Chelsea said in a statement.
Kante has been a vital player for Chelsea since his move from Leicester City in 2016 and equally important for France, having earned 53 caps.
Coach Didier Deschamps had warned that he would not pick any player who would not be fit for the start of the tournament.
He now faces some tricky choices before naming his squad on Nov. 9 as another key midfielder, Paul Pogba, is a doubt after the Juventus player underwent knee surgery last month.
France were drawn in Group D with Australia, Denmark and Tunisia.

Built entirely with Lego plastic pieces – 400 thousands of them – a flashy green Lamborghini supercar was presented at the Paris Motor Show on Monday (October 17).
The supercar has the exact same dimensions as the real one, a Lamborghini Sian FKP 37. Lego said it took a team of fifteen people 9 thousand hours of work to conceive and build the replica.
“This car is made up of 400,000 Lego pieces and bricks. It took 9000 hours of work by a team of 15 people to design it but also to build it using Lego pieces. PM wants action on securing broadcast rights for Fifa World Cup

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday told the Cabinet to find a solution as soon as possible for the broadcast of the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
During Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, Prayut asked Prawit Wongsuwan, deputy PM who also chaired the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, about the broadcast of the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
The PM said a lot of Thai people had asked for broadcast of the competition that will be held in Qatar in November.
Prawit informed the PM that the committee is finding a solution with Asean countries for broadcast of the event.
Meanwhile, PM’s Office Minister Anucha Nakasai said that Thailand is holding discussions with Asean countries for a solution on the broadcast.
Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin suggested that the rights for telecasting the event in Thailand must be secured.
Prayut told the responsible agencies to take urgent action.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be held from November 20 to December 18 in Qatar with 32 participating teams.
Thailand Kickboxing Championship makes its debut this month, with aim to tap new talent

The Thailand Kickboxing Championship 2022 will be held at the Thai-Japanese Stadium from October 29-30.
The tournament aims to promote the sport and also recruit athletes for the Thai national team in three age categories: 13 to 15 years old, 16 to 18 years, and 19 to 40 years.
It will be conducted as per the rules of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO).
The tournament is the latest move by the Kickboxing Association of Thailand to promote the sport, which has enjoyed an increase in popularity since its success at the SEA Games in Vietnam earlier this year.
“As it is similar to Muay Thai, the country’s traditional sport, kickboxing has become more and more popular among the Thai people,” General Kookiat Srinaka, a senior official from the Kickboxing Association of Thailand, said on Tuesday at a press conference.
“Interestingly, our athletes performed well, winning two gold medals at the SEA Games in Vietnam in May. With that, we have received more support from the Sports Authority of Thailand [SAT] and also the National Sports Development Fund to continue our work in developing our athletes and management to meet international standards. Among their support is the Thailand Kickboxing Championship 2022.”
Of the 12 gold medals on offer at the SEA Games in Vietnam, Thailand took home two gold, four silver and six bronze medals while the hosts bagged five gold medals. The other titles went to the Philippines (2), Indonesia (2) and Cambodia (1).
SAT governor Kongsak Yodmanee said that kickboxing is well recognised and gaining more popularity throughout the world.
Apart from being an exercise, the sport also offers a career, and the SAT hopes the tournament will attract a large number of fans and find good athletes to represent Thailand, he said.
“Nowadays, more Muay Thai fighters are taking part in kickboxing and many of them have performed well on the international stage. We have given our full support to the association to host the competition so that they can recruit more fine athletes to represent the country,” he said.
Kickboxing is now a discipline at many international sporting events, including the SEA Games, World Games and World Combat Games as well as the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to take place in Thailand next year.
Meanwhile, Muay Thai superstar Buakaw Banchamek, who managed the Thai team that won two kickboxing gold medals in Vietnam, said that despite being popular among the Thais, kickboxing is quite new to them in terms of rules and judging.
The Thailand Kickboxing Championship 2022 will not only help the sport in general but also allow involved parties to learn about its rules and other important issues, he said.
“With this tournament, we will get more fighters for the national team. It will promote the sport and allow involved parties to learn new things about kickboxing,” said Buakaw, who is also a board member of the association.
Supranee Guptasa, manager of the National Sports Development Fund, praised the association for winning two gold medals at the 2022 SEA Games even though the sport is relatively new in the country.
