In a Facebook post on Monday, Chatri, founder and chairman of MMA’s Singapore-based ONE Championship, said he had formally accepted an invitation from the Royal Thai Army to put on fight nights at the stadium.

“Lumpinee Stadium has long been the highest pinnacle of Muay Thai, representing the best of the best champions ever since the beginning,” Chatri said.

Lumpinee, which opened as Thailand’s second stadium in 1956, is run by the Army. In 2014 it relocated from its site overlooking Lumpini Park to a 5,000-seat venue on Ram Intra Road. One Championship star Panpayak Jitmuangnon scored an incredible victory this past weekend to earn his place in the One flyweight Muay Thai world grand prix championship final.

Panpayak Jitmuangnon earns grand prix final slot with emphatic victory at One Fight Night 1

The Thai star filled in as a late replacement for Rodtang Jitmuangnon in his semifinal bout against Savvas Michael at One Fight Night 1: Moraes v Johnson II, on Saturday, 27 August, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and came away victorious thanks to a second-round knockout.

He is now slated to compete for the tournament’s coveted silver belt against old foe Superlek Kiatmoo9 sometime before the end of the year.

The #3-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender attacked Michael right from the opening bell and kept up the pressure right to the end of the opening round. Then, just ten seconds into the second frame, he scored a highlight-reel finish over the Cypriot star with a blistering right hook followed by a devastating left kick to the head.

The win punched his ticket to the tournament final and earned him a US$50,000 bonus from One Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

Following the bout, “The Angel Warrior,” who was originally scheduled to fight Sherzod Kabutov in a grand prix alternate bout on the One Fight Night 1 lead card, thanked flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang for indirectly giving him the opportunity to compete in the tourney.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Rodtang. It was an accident for me to move up to compete against Savvas. This is one of the biggest opportunities in my life. It is such a big opportunity for me to be on this fight card and to win this tournament,” Panpayak said.

Early in the evening, top-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender Superlek scored a spectacular finish of his own when he took on #5-ranked contender Walter Goncalves in the other semifinal clash. It took just 95 seconds for the Thai to finish his Brazilian foe with a perfectly placed elbow.

“The Angel Warrior” will face Superlek for the second time inside the Circle and the eighth time overall, with Panpayak holding a four-win advantage over “The Kicking Machine.”

Speaking on his future showdown against his compatriot, the seven-time Muay Thai world champion made it clear that it will be a competitive affair.

“A Thai athlete versus a Thai athlete [bout] it is hard to find a chance for a knockout. I will have to find the chance. Of course, I will [try to finish by knockout],” Panpayak said.

“I feel glad to compete with him again. I lost the last fight with him. I told the public that I wanted revenge in the future. The time has come in the grand prix.”

In the meantime, download the One Super App to catch all the action at One 161: Petchmorakot v Tawanchai on Thursday, 29 September, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The 21-year-old Kunlavut, a three-time junior world champion and ranked world No. 17, had raised hopes of becoming the first Thai to win the men’s title after toppling Singapore’s defending world champion Loh Kean Yew in the quarter-finals.

Axelsen’s previous world title had come in Glasgow in 2017.

The 28-year-old Dane, the Olympic gold medallist, did not drop a game throughout the tournament.

Two-time champion Patcharajutar Kongkraphan will be among the strong contenders in the 7th Bt2.5 million SAT-TWT Open Road to World Ranking which runs between August 31 and September 2 at Kabin Buri Sport Club in Prachinburi.

The former top 80 player in the world will return to home circuits after winning four local tournaments in a row between July and August. Two occurred in the 4th and 5th circuits of the SAT-TWT Open at the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course and Lake View Resort and Golf Club.

“I’ve spent a lot of time resting after playing week in week out. But I’m still having some light practice on my swing to remain confident about my putting,” said the 30-year-old who just came back from the Simone Asia Pacific Golf event in Indonesia.

“It felt like I was playing in the national team again. My confidence was still with me even I was playing an overseas tournament. That made me want to play offshore again,” added P.K. who is currently leading on the Thai WPGA Order of Merits standing.

Patcharajutar hopes she will carry on with her winning momentum into the par 72 6,438 yard Kabinburi Sport Club which is the seventh stop of the Thai WPGA Tour for the 2021-2022 season.

“You need to come up with accurate shots at this course. You cannot attack all the pin positions at this tricky course,” she said.
This week’s field also features in-form players including two-time runner-up Arpichaya Yubol, former LPGA players Budsbakorn Sukapan and Sherman Santiwiwatthanaphong who just finished lone third on the Thailand Mixed on Sunday, Trichat Cheenglab, circuit 6 winner Supamas Sangchan and the up-and-coming Filipina Princess Superal.

Supamas sank in a finishing birdie to win the last circuit at Panorama Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima which ended a three-year-drought of victory for her. In fact, she used to win a tournament at Kabin Buri three years ago.

“I have no pressure at all coming back to this course. I have been playing four straight tournaments, so I don’t want to be hard on myself as I have to save my body,” said Supamas from Sukhothai.

“This is a big course. I need to hit far with my 1-wood in order to have short approach shots,” she added.

Superal who just celebrated her biggest win in the Simone Asia Pacific Golf last week has been competing regularly in Thailand this year. She has posted three top 10 finishes on the Thai WPGA Tour with a tied second in the fifth circuit as her best finish.

“I decide to play in Thailand because there are more tournaments here than in the Philippines. I like the competition here as there are a lot of good Thai players. I like to challenge myself,” said Superal who admires the organization of the Thai WPGA.

“I like how they run the tournament. I like that they provide free food in the player’s lounge. That’s a big help for us,” said the 25-year-old player who gave credits to Thai tours which helps shape up her game.

“I won the Simone Asia Pacific Golf in Indonesia last week. One of the reasons why I won there is because I’ve played a lot of tournaments in Thailand. The competition really challenges me. It helps me improve my game,” she added.

The SAT-TWT Open Road to World Ranking is sponsored by the Sports Authority of Thailand, National Sports Development Fund, Siam Commercial Bank, P Overseas Steal (Public Company Limited) and the Panorama Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima. Old Putter Helps Artiruj Prevail in 4th Thailand Mixed

Artiruj Winaicharoenchai relied on his old putter to beat overnight leader Amarin Kraivixien by five points to win the Bt3 million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf, which was competed in a stableford format, at Thana City Country Club on Sunday.

Old Putter Helps Artiruj Prevail in 4th Thailand Mixed

Trailing Amarin by one point at the first tee, Artiruj quickly got into the driver’s seat with four birdies after seven holes. Despite a hiccup on the ninth where he had a double bogey, the 22-year-old recovered to fire four birdies in the next five holes, then bogeyed on the 15th before producing crucial par putts from the 16th holes onwards.

He signed off with 12 points for a total 38 after 72 holes with Amarin following at lone second on 33 points.

“I’m happy to win a tournament as it’s never easy to win.  I just tried to be patient out there, waiting for the leader (Amarin) to lose his momentum. I myself also made some easy mistakes on two holes but I made up for that by shooting eight birdies,” said Artiruj who decided to bring out his old putter to compete in the final round after unsuccessful attempt to adjust to his new one for 54 holes.

Old Putter Helps Artiruj Prevail in 4th Thailand Mixed

“I changed my putter this week, but I wasn’t putting well. So, today I switched back to my old putter that I’m more comfortable with. It worked,” added the Chonburi-based who has won a total of five professional titles to date. His previous came on the All Thailand Golf Tour in Khon Kaen and Chanthaburi this year and on the Thai PGA Tour back in 2018 and 2020. . As the first man to win a Thailand Mixed title this year (the first three by Chanettee Wannasaen), Artiruj he earned the top prize money of  Bt450,000.

Amarin, searching for his first big professional win, tried to breathe on the neck of Artiruj all afternoon but after a double bogey on the 16th hole, his hope evaporated.

“I was giving my all out there, but Artiruj hardly gave me the opportunity to catch up with him. He was too good at the end of the day,” added the 25-year-old Bangkokian who produced his best finish on a professional event this week

“I’m not in a hurry to win as I’ve been a pro for just three years. It can happen at any time on any given week. I firmly believe that if I’m not good enough for this, I would probably have pursued a different career already,”  said Amarin who took home Bt300,000.

At lone third on 32 points was Sherman Santiwiwatthanaphong. Suffering from a jet-lag after a long flight from the US, the former LPGA member turned out to bring her best when she least expected it.

“I learned a lesson that I shouldn’t be so stressed like the way I had been earlier this year. I can’t believe with the physical condition that I have, I still manage to survive all four rounds this week,” said Sherman.

As the best female player in the top five, Sherman will earn a slot into the Women’s Australian Open, an Australian LPGA event, in December.

“I’m thankful for this opportunity. I hope to gain experience from playing that tournament. In terms of my goal for the rest of the season, I will try my best get back to the LPGA through Q-School. But if I cannot make it, it’s OK. Sometimes there are things that are out of your control,” she added.

Meanwhile, Tudpong Chutimaphorn produced the round’s best score of 15 which earned him a Bt10,000 special prize sponsored by Balance Golf Nutrition. He also settled at lone eighth with 28 points.

The next and final Thailand TrustGolf Tour, the Thailand Mixed Masters which offers a handsome overall prize money of Bt5 million, is due between September 15-18 at the Gatsson Legacy Golf Club in Lamphun.  Only top 60 on the Order of Merits based on their results from circuit 1 -4 will be eligible for the tournament.

Liverpool equal Premier League record with 9-0 hammering of Bournemouth

Liverpool earned their first win of the season in stunning fashion, equalling the record for the biggest ever Premier League victory with a 9-0 thrashing of promoted Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday (August 27).

Liverpool equal Premier League record with 9-0 hammering of Bournemouth

Two goals inside the opening six minutes from Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliot put the hosts into a commanding position from the off.

A stunning strike from England full-back Trent Alexander Arnold which arrowed into the top corner gave Liverpool a three-goal lead in the 28th minute before Roberto Firmino got in on the act with a fourth three minutes later.

Not done there, Liverpool had a fifth before the interval, with Virgil van Dijk heading home from a corner — the first time the Reds had netted five in the first half of a league game since 1958.

Chris Mepham’s own goal had the visitors staring at the prospect of an embarrassing drubbing, with such worries heightening after a close-range finish from Firmino and substitute Fabio Carvalho’s volley.

After Diaz headed in the ninth, Liverpool had five minutes to become the first side to score 10 goals in a Premier League match. But despite some late scares, Bournemouth did just enough to avoid suffering that ignominy.

Along with Manchester United twice and Leicester City, four teams have now scored nine in a Premier League match.

Eagle on 14th Puts Amarin in Contention at 4th Thailand Mixed

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/life/sport/40019429

An eagle putt on the 14t hole propelled Amarin Kraivixien to the apogee of the leaders’ board on 27 points after the third round of the Bt3 million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf at the Thana City Country Club on Saturday.

Eagle on 14th Puts Amarin in Contention at 4th Thailand Mixed

The one-time Thailand Development Tour winner in 2019, after finishing his second round, postponed from Friday, in the morning, returned to the greens on fire by shooting four birdies with a 25-foot eagle that granted him five points against two bogeys to earn 11 points. His total 27 saw him lead second round leader Atiruj Winaicharoenkul who had a bogey free round of four birdies that gifted him eight points and 26 in overall.

“I gave myself several chances but there were some holes where I should have done better. However, that eagle really boosted up my confidence and got me back into contention,” added the 25-year-old Bangkokian who posted two tied fourth finishes in the All Thailand Golf Tour (ATGT)  this year in Phuket and Rayong.

Never before a leader in a big tour, Amarin will have to cope with an unfamiliar territory when he tees off in the last group on Sunday with his eyes firmly fixed on a breakthrough victory.

“I wouldn’t be standing here if I’m not prepared to face this type of challenge. But because it’s a stableford format, you cannot set your hope too high as things can turn around pretty quickly. Everybody stands an equal shot at winning. The one who comes up with great putts will prevail,” added Amarin or known as “Ray” among his friends and family.

The up-and-coming Atiruj, winner of two titles on the ATGT this year and two Thai PGA Tour titles in 2018 and 2020, despite with an unblemished scorecard, was not content with his round.

Eagle on 14th Puts Amarin in Contention at 4th Thailand Mixed

“I played below my standard today. The way I putted was nowhere near my level. I wish I had made long birdies more,” said the 22-year-old from Rayong.

“On Sunday, I hope that I can putt better. I don’t want to think about winning as I would rather enjoy the game of golf,” he added.

Amateur Weerawish Narkprachar, a SEA Games team’s event gold medalist and former World Youth Games mixed doubles gold medalist Vanchai Luangnitikul trailed the leader by two points, each with 25.

“To be honest I didn’t expect to be among the leaders. Playing a stableford format really tests your offensive game and at the same time you will try to avoid a double bogey. For tomorrow, the one who shoots the most birdies will win the trophy,” said the 18-year-old from Samut Prakarn.

Despite affected by a jet-lag after a long flight from the US, Sherman Santiwiwatthanaphong earned seven points from four birdies and one bogey which placed her at lone fifth with 23 points. She is the only woman in the top five. By landing inside the top five as the best female player on Sunday, she will earn a wildcard into the Women’s Australian Open in December.

“It will be great if I receive that quota to play in a big event. But there are 18 more holes of golf to play. Physically I’m better now. But it will be hard to beat the men in this tournament as they hit further and can shoot scores higher than us,” said the 25-year-old former LPGA player from Bueng Kan.

Goalkeeper thanks ‘wrong girlfriend’ in post-match interview

Kainan, goalkeeper for GR Esperança from Brazil, was named man of the match for his performance against Vic Vic in the Copa da Paz, which ended up 1-1. Interviewed in the middle of the pitch for TV, he was asked: “Would you like to send a hug or kiss to someone?

Kainan answered: “To my girlfriend, who’s working now, thank God, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. Grazi, a hug to you.”

Except Grazi is not the name of his current girlfriend.

A horrified Kainan realised his mistake as he was shaking hands with the interviewer.

“I said the wrong name,” he blurted out. “Jucielly … I said the wrong name of my girl.”

Shocked, the interviewer asked: “You’re kidding?”

Kainan said, “I am serious. I am serious. I am going to get beaten up at home. Just don’t show her the link [to this video] right?”

There’s no news yet on whether the goalkeeper managed to save his relationship with Jucielly.
