ONE Championship has made a name for itself by being a passionate promoter of a multitude of martial arts. Fans can expect to see a variety of combat sports at every one of the Singapore-based organization’s events – from submission grappling to kickboxing.

ONE promises amazing Muay Thai action at One Fight Night 1

However, one of the brightest jewels in ONE’s crown is its Muay Thai roster. The world’s best strikers call the promotion home, and the action that each bout brings to the circle is hard to beat.

Several intense Muay Thai battles will take place at ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II on Saturday, 27 August, and before the exciting event goes down at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, we take a look at why “the art of eight limbs” could steal the show.

#1 The ONE flyweight Muay Thai world grand prix semifinals

The semifinals of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix will take place on the main card this Saturday, and fans are waiting anxiously to see how they play out.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, is set to battle Cypriot powerhouse and #4-ranked Savvas Michael in what promises to be a bout of tactics and heavy strikes.

And before that, Thai striking dynamo and #1-ranked Superlek Kiatmoo9 will take on Brazilian brawler and fifth-ranked flyweight Walter Goncalves. “The Kicking Machine” will have to use every one of his vast number of skills to try and get past Goncalves, who finished Josue “Tuzo” Cruz in his quarterfinal bout in only 35 seconds.

#2 A heavy-handed world title showdown

British striking sensation and #5-ranked Liam Harrison is coming for Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s bantamweight Muay Thai crown in Saturday’s co-main event, and the Thai legend is ready to stop him.

“Hitman’s” last outing in the Circle saw him mount an almost unbelievable comeback against Muangthai PK.Saenchai. Harrison survived two knockdowns in the opening minutes to score three of his own and secure the win before the end of the first round.

But he’ll have to dig deep and come up with something even more spectacular if he wants to defeat Nong-O, who is on a perfect 8-0 run since debuting in One in 2018.

#3 Female striking stars on display

ONE actively promotes the talent of its female athletes across each sport under its banner, including Muay Thai.

And on 27 August, two of its fiery female strikers will take to the Circle for a catchweight showdown.

Australia’s Diandra Martin will meet England’s Amber Kitchen on the evening’s lead card in what promises to be a masterclass of Muay Thai.

Both stars are coming off the back of a loss, with Kitchen going down to Viktoria Lipianska and Martin succumbing to Smilla Sundell, so fans can expect them to throw bombs at each other in the hopes of scoring a highlight-reel finish when they square off on Saturday.

Don’t miss any of the action at ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes v Johnson II, which will be broadcast live on AIS Play at 7 a.m. Indochina Time (ICT) on Saturday, 27 August. The main card will follow on AIS Play at 9 a.m. ICT. Thairath TV32 will air a same-day delay at 10:30 p.m. ICT.

Also, tickets for the event are now available at onefc.com/tickets.

Six players led by former SEA Games silver medalist Witchayanon Chothirunrungruen took part in the photocall ahead of their participation in the Bt3million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf at the Thana City Country Club which starts on Thursday.

The diminutive Withchayanon, who won the team’s silver in the 2017 regional Games in Kuala Lumpur was joined in the promotional activity by 2020 Singha Masters victor Ratchapol Jantavara, Thai-Japanese Poonnavich Hirayama, 2017 Thai LPGA No 1  Parinda Phokan, and rising stars Asama McKenzie and Chonnikarn Chaiyasith in the photo shoot which took part at TrustGolf Headquarters,  Imperial Samrong on Tuesday.

The concept of the photocall was defined as “City Life” which reflects different perspectives of individuals towards their work lives. According to survey in Japan, the number of working people with interest in golf is getting higher and higher every year. That signifies that the number of people in the golf community in Japan continues to grow annually.

Back in Thailand, golf sports has become more and more popular while the quantity of Thai golfers tends to rise significantly in 2022. As a result, TrustGolf has decided to hold the Thailand Mixed event for the first time in the central region in response to the growing popularity of golf in Thailand.

The fourth Thailand Mixed is due at the Thana City Country Club which measures 7,008 yards off the men’s tee and 6,281 off the women’s between August 25 – 28.

For the first time, the stableford format will be introduced in the Thailand Mixed series. In comparison to the stroke play event, in a stableford pattern, players score points based on the number of strokes taken on each hole: albatross = + 8, eagle = + 5, birdie = + 2, par = 0, bogey = – 1 and – 2 for a double bogey and more. After 36 holes, top 60 and ties will proceed into the weekend rounds. The player with the highest number of points, after four days and 72 holes,  wins the tournament.

In addition, a female player with the best score (but must finish in the top five on the leaders’ board) will be granted a wildcard into the Women’s Australian Open, an ALPGA event, in December. Another slot will be given to a Thai female player on the same condition in the final Thailand Mixed next month.

The Thailand Mixed is organised by TrustGolf, an indoor training center with advanced technology. It is supported by the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Sports Development Fund, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Bangkok Bank, B.Grimm Company, Bond Holdings, AISPLAY, Bridgestone, Trust Pharmacy, Trust Live Streaming, Adidas Golf,  the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration and Thana City Country Club.

Fans can watch live coverage of the third Thailand Mixed either on AIS Play APP and TrustGolf Facebook and Youtube.

Manager’s gruelling run leaves Man Utd players impressed

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag won the respect of his players when he led from the front after ordering them to go on a 13.8km run after the humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford, which marked a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign.

Manager’s gruelling run leaves Man Utd players impressed

Ten Hag was furious after his team’s dismal show on August 13 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Dutchman cancelled their scheduled off day and asked them to report for training. The players were reportedly incensed when he ordered them to run 13.8 kilometres, the distance his players had run less than their Brentford rivals, with the temperature an unfriendly 33 degrees Celsius.

The Mirror reported that players who were reportedly “infuriated” by his decision were soon left in awe after the Dutchman too joined in. The long run in demanding conditions reportedly left the manager “physically shattered”, but it made a “deep impression” on the squad.

A source told The Mirror: “The players were raging when they discovered their punishment for the no-show at Brentford would be an 8.5-mile run. But the moans ceased when it became clear that the manager was planning to do the same as them.

“He didn’t have to tell anyone why. It was clear that he wasn’t going to let his players take all the blame for the performance. Ten Hag also felt he had to show that he also felt culpable. It was a tough run for the players, but it was even more gruelling for Erik, and they were impressed.”

On Monday against Liverpool, United players ran 19km more than they did against Brentford and were rewarded with a 2-1 victory over their arch-rivals.

PSV’s van Nistelrooy ‘relaxed’ about Man Utd’s interest in rising star Gakpo

PSV Eindhoven head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy insisted on Tuesday he was “relaxed” over the transfer speculation which surrounds one of his club’s brightest prospects – Cody Gakpo.

PSV's van Nistelrooy 'relaxed' about Man Utd's interest in rising star Gakpo

Gakpo has been linked with a move to Manchester United, as boss Erik ten Hag continues his rebuild of the Old Trafford club.

PSV can book their place in the UEFA Champions League group stages with a victory over Scottish outfit and last season’s UEFA Europa League finalists Rangers, after the play-off first leg ended in an eventful 2-2 draw at Ibrox Stadium last week.

But PSV will not face Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos, who has been omitted from Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad because of concerns over the Colombian’s fitness and attitude – a decision which van Nistelrooy felt would not have the “biggest influence” on Wednesday’s match.

PSV Eindhoven trained on Tuesday on the eve of the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off at home to Rangers.

The tie is all square after a 2-2 draw in the first leg at Ibrox.

Xiong Jing Nan – Angela Lee trilogy tops One Fight Night 2

One Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee will meet strawweight queen Xiong Jing Nan for the third time in the main event of One Fight Night 2: Xiong v Lee III on 30 September at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Xiong Jing Nan - Angela Lee trilogy tops One Fight Night 2

The epic rivalry between two of the promotion’s most impressive female athletes has needed a trilogy match for some time now, so fans are excited with the news that was announced by One earlier this week.

The two world champions first met at One: A New Era in March 2019, when “Unstoppable” challenged Xiong’s strawweight throne. The enthralling battle looked up in the air for most of the first four rounds, but “The Panda” mounted a sharp comeback in the fifth to finish Lee and retain the gold.

When they met for the second time the following October, it was Lee’s turn to put her gold on the line. In a bout that truly marked this rivalry as one for the ages, the action once again got taken into the fifth round. And with almost poetic justice, it was “Unstoppable” who earned the win when she sank in a rear-naked choke on Xiong with just 12 seconds remaining.

Since then, both athletes have gone on to become even bigger stars.

“The Panda” has defended her world title three times, scoring unanimous decision victories over Ayaka “Zombie” Miura, Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, and Michelle Nicolini.

Lee, on the other hand, retained her crown against Stamp Fairtex this past March at One X. The main-event victory marked the first time “Unstoppable” had been in the Circle since her last fight with Xiong, as she took time off to start a family.

Who will pull out ahead in this epic rivalry will be the topic of much discussion for the next six weeks, but fans are guaranteed a barnburner when this trilogy bout goes down.

In the meantime, One 160: Ok v Lee II, the organization’s upcoming event, will broadcast live on AIS Play at 6:30 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT) on Friday, 26 August. The main card will follow on AIS Play at 7:30 p.m. ICT. Thairath TV 32 will cut into the broadcast at 9:30 p.m. CT.

3 Former Champs Ready for 4t Thailand Mixed

Three ex-winners led by red-hot Chanettee Wannasaen are up for the stableford challenge as they launch their actions in the Bt3million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf at the Thana City Country Club on Thursday.

3 Former Champs Ready for 4t Thailand Mixed

The teen prodigy who has scooped all titles on all three Thailand Mixed series this year will be put to the test by the inaugural champion Arpichaya Yubul and veteran Chapchai Nirat, a winner in the Chiang Mai meet last year, in the fourth circuit of the mixed tournament which introduces the stableford format for the first time.

“I’m happy to be back on this tour again. Every time that I play at home, my goal is to finish in the top 10. Now, I’m not 100% physically but I will try to give my best this week,” said Chanettee who will compete in her first event after a two-week break due to sickness.

“I didn’t practise much because of my illness. But earlier, I spent a month in Europe and I was quite happy with my form there as I could cope with the weather and the course conditions there better than I did last year. At least I won a challenger tournament in the UK,” said Chanettee who, with her ranking inside the top 400, was exempt for the LPGA Q School in the first stage. She automatically earns a spot in the second stage due in October.

3 Former Champs Ready for 4t Thailand Mixed

Arpichaya, who won the first Thailand Mixed last year, is excited to compete in the stableford format again after signing off at a tied 23rd in the Trust Golf Asian Mixed Stableford Challenge at Siam Country Club, Waterside Course in April.
“This format is quite a challenge for me as if you make a bogey or a birdie, that will make a big difference. I used to compete in this competition format before in the Asian Mixed event before and it was quite fun.
Like Chanettee, Arpichaya will take part in the LPGA Q-School second stage after settling at joint 7th in the first stage last week.

“The first LPGA Q-School was a good test for me. I had to bear with around 41 degree condition and had to stay patient throughout the competition. Having a good putting game really helped me out there,” said Arpichaya.

Chapchai, the 39-year-old player who won the Thailand Mixed title alongside his best buddy Prom Meesawat in Chiang Mai last year, hopes to add a new trophy to his cabinet.
“I’m feeling more confident now after competing in many tournaments so far this year. I’ve been working hard these days especially on some techniques. At this point, I have my eyes firmly fixed on winning every tournament that I enter,” said Chapchai whose target is also to be invited to compete in an LIV Golf event in the future.

Meanwhile in the qualifying competition on Monday, Sunantarek Wetchakama scored eight points to come on top of the leader’s board, with Pornphat Luchutaskul following second with seven point.

Man United protests turn to celebration after win over Liverpool

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/life/sport/40019221

Manchester United produced an utterly unexpected 2-1 victory over rivals Liverpool in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Monday (August 22) to turn fan protests against the club’s owners into a rare night of celebration.

Man United protests turn to celebration after win over Liverpool

United’s vastly improved performance for their first points of the campaign, thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, left Juergen Klopp’s Liverpool without a victory from their opening three games and with just two points.

It was the first win for United’s Dutch manager Erik ten Hag, who was rewarded for his decision to leave Cristiano Ronaldo and club captain Harry Maguire on the bench.

In the aftermath of last week’s humiliating 4-0 loss at Brentford, it has been a week of major question marks over the club’s owners, the Florida-based Glazer family, and many fans marched to the ground in protest ahead of the kick-off calling for them to sell the club.

United’s transfer failings have also been criticised but before the match started their new arrival from Real Madrid, Casemiro, was unveiled to the fans, although the welcoming applause threatened to be drowned out by anti-Glazer chants.

That strange juxtaposition of support and protest remained throughout the game but United’s display, their best in over a year, defined the night.

Sancho put the hosts ahead in the 16th minute, showing great composure as he collected a pull-back from Anthony Elanga, left James Milner on his backside and then slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Christian Eriksen was denied a second for Ten Hag’s side with a curling free-kick which Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker touched away from the top corner but United extended their lead after the break.

A mistake by Jordan Henderson allowed substitute Anthony Martial to send Rashford clear and the England forward kept his cool to slot past Alisson in the 53rd minute for his first league goal since January.

Henderson was part of a weakened midfield with James Milner and Harvey Elliott but Liverpool were below par all over the field.

They did however pull a goal back in the 81st minute when Fabio Carvalho’s shot was parried by David De Gea only for Mohamed Salah to react quickly and nod in the loose ball.

There was plenty for Ten Hag to be encouraged by, particularly Rashford’s return to scoring form, but he will surely be delighted with the positive performances of two of his new signings.

Lisandro Martinez was outstanding in the centre of defence alongside the recalled Raphael Varane, while Tyrell Malacia, picked ahead of Luke Shaw at left back, was tenacious throughout.

There were some late nerves for the home side after Liverpool’s goal but they held firm and the United fans, who had begun the night chanting against their owners, the Glazer family, went home in celebratory mood.
