Thai snooker player Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon has been banned for the next two seasons of the World Snooker Tour on disciplinary grounds.
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) announced on its website on Wednesday that 28-year-old Thanawat will be unable to compete in the 2022-23 World Snooker Tour and the 2023-24 season.
The organisation only stated that it was an outstanding serious disciplinary matter from the World Snooker Tour in 2015.
However, the WPBSA said that Thanawat is cooperating fully to resolve the outstanding issues.
Thanawat had recently earned the spot from the 2022 Asia-Oceania Q School at the beginning of June after he beat fellow-Thai Dechawat Poomjaeng 4-2.
His place on the World Snooker Tour will be offered to Asjad Iqbal from Pakistan who is the next in line on the Asia-Oceania Q School Order of Merit.
Tickets for the sizzling Moto GP race in Thailand will go on sale on July 8 and are expected to be sold out in a day, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) said.
SAT confirmed on Wednesday that the Thailand Grand Prix would be held for the third year at Chang International Circuit in Buriram from September 30 to October 2.
The Covid-19 crisis had put the brakes on the annual Moto GP for the past two years.
Earlier, the race had witnessed the biggest attendance compared to other competitions, with more than 100,000 fans including foreigners in attendance.
Tickets will go on sale from 1.30pm to 2.35pm on the 25th floor of the Chalermphrakiet Building at the Sports Authority of Thailand in Bangkok.
There is separate seating for the event:
Grand stand – 4,000 baht
Side stand – 2,000 baht
Rider stand – price and merchandise will be announced soon.

Unfancied Mathusorn Rodnen took a surprise lead following an opening 66 after the first round of the rain-disrupted Bt 2.5 million SAT-TWT Open Road to World Ranking at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Pattaya on Wednesday.
Playing in her sixth start as a professional player, the 18-year-old sank seven birdies against a lone birdie on the first hole to grab a stroke lead over heavy-favourite Chanettee Wannasen and Trichat Cheenglab at the par 72 6,328 yard landscape which was hit several times by rain.
“Normally I didn’t play like this, so to be on the top of the leader’s board is quite a surprise to me,” said the Hua-Hin based in her first time leading in a main local tour.
“At the beginning, I didn’t drive the ball well, but I later to hit the fairways better. My approach shots also improved as I hit the ball to the right position to create a lot of birdie opportunities,” added the teenager who eyes on her first top five finish this week.
Teen prodigy Chanettee, with seven birdies against two bogeys, carded a 67 to pose another strong challenge in a tournament after winning six titles this season.

“I could have done better as I made three putts on two holes. But I’m quite confident with my chance this week with my first round score,” said Channettee whose season’s highlights included three victories on the TrustGolf Tour and the National Qualifiers in the Honda LPGA Thailand.
Trichat, a one-time winner on a local women’s tour, fired seven birdies against two bogeys for a 67 to again put herself in contention after finishing top 10 twice on the TrustGolf Tour this season.
“I have to thank my putting game today. I made great putts from everywhere. I just hope to hit the iron better in the next two days,” said the 27-year-old Bangkokian.
Four players followed a stroke behind with a 68. That included 15-year-old amateur Pimpisa Rubrong who had five birdies and one bogey.
“I hit close to the pin positions and made several birdies. The rain interrupted play a few times and it made the green speed a bit slower than usual. I’m glad to come back to play on this course as we haven’t had a junior tournament here for a few years,” said Pimpisa.
The other three were former LPGA players Patcharajutar Kongkraphan amd Budsabakorn Sukapan, Samaporn Khangkhun and Nontaya Srisawang.

Thai Women’s Professional Golf Association organizes the “SAT-TWT Open” Road to World Ranking, the third of the 10 events for the 2021-2022 season.
The current SAT-TWT Open Road to World Ranking, the first of all eight circuits in 2022, is taking place at the par 72 6,328 yard Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Pattaya between June 22-24. It is competed in a three-day stroke-play format with a total of 54 holes (18 holes each day).
The field acceptance will not exceed 132 players with only top 60 and ties, after 36 holes, proceeding to the final round. The winner will receive the top prize money of Bt367,500. However, any player who hit over 88 (or 16 over par) in each round will be automatically disqualified.

The Thai women’s national volleyball team will fly to Bulgaria on Saturday to compete in the third week of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League from June 29 to July 4.
The team landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Monday evening and was welcomed by Somporn Chaibangyan, president of the Thailand Volleyball Association.
The team will stay in Thailand for five days before travelling to Bulgaria on Saturday.
Thailand will play against South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, and Italy, starting with South Korea on June 29 at 9pm at Armeets Arena in Sofia.
Thailand finished the second week with one win and three losses, for a total of four wins and four losses after two weeks. The team got 12 points and stands eighth in the 16-team table.
Somporn said the team will be better prepared in the third week as the players who got infected with Covid-19 during the second week would have recovered.
He said the results of the past two weeks had exceeded their expectations and he was confident of strong performances in the coming days.
The Thai Cycling Association has banned for a year a cyclist who pushed and bumped other competitors and left one person severely injured during an event over the weekend.
The association had held two competitions at the weekend in Phichit province. The incident occurred in the “Sport Tourism Bike 4 All” competition on Sunday in the AV35 male category.
The association announced on Facebook on Monday that Nattapol Bamrungrak, a cyclist from the P&K Bike Sports Phitsanulok team, has been banned for a year from competitions held or certified by the Thai Cycling Association.
The association said that Nattapol had committed three violations before sprinting to the finish line: Intentionally pushing another cyclist and denying him an opportunity to reach the finish line; bumping another cyclist, leading to his fall and serious injuries; refusing to accept the award for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Several netizens on Facebook wanted the association to ban him permanently or at least increase the duration of the punishment.
Most Thais complain their national football teams are making no progress or even going backwards in international tournaments, according to the latest sports poll. Respondents to the KBU Sport Poll also blamed poor management for Thailand’s lack of competitiveness at the highest level of football.
The Thai men’s team have never qualified for a FIFA World Cup and are making no progress towards that goal, according to most respondents. The Thai women’s team have fared better, however, qualifying for World Cups in 2015 and 2019.
KBU Sport Poll surveyed 1,369 sports fans between June 15 and 18 about the direction of Thai football. Of the respondents, 58.8 per cent were male while the rest were female.

A special match between Dream Team Classic and VIP The Match was organised at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday as part of preparations for the upcoming exhibition match between Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool next month.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has praised the team’s performance.
Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said on Sunday that Prayut was impressed with the team’s efforts in the second week of the competition.
He said Thailand was proud of moving up to 14th place in the FIVB standings after great victories in the first week against Bulgaria, Serbia, and China.
He said Prayut will continue to monitor and encourage the team as they keep up their impressive performances. He also wished the team success in the third week of the competition from June 29 to July 3.
The team will play against South Korea, Dominican Republic, Brazil, and Italy.
If the team stays in the top 8, they will get to compete in the final round at Ankara Arena in Ankara, Turkey in July.
