Supermodel Naomi Campbell hosted this year’s Fashion for Relief charity event at Cannes on Sunday (May 21).

The event raised money for Save the Children’s efforts to assist young refugee and others affected by war and natural disaster.

Among the celebrities in attendance at the gala dinner were Arianna Alessi, Jeremy Renner, Anna Cleveland, Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka.

In the evening’s finale, Campbell – wearing a “Child at Heart” T-shirt – led a parade of famous models including Heidi Klum, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Chris Lee, Natasha Poly, Jasmine Sanders and Isabeli Fontana.

In April the clothing brand Diesel joined Campbell in launching “a collection that cares”, a line of T-shirts and hoodies featuring children’s artwork. It’s available at Diesel stores around the world.

Campbell pitched the idea to Diesel founder Renzo Rosso, who spearheads philanthropic initiatives through his Only the Brave Foundation, which aims to “rebalance social inequality and contribute to the sustainable development of less-advantaged people”.

The Fashion for Relief Show in Cannes was the second chapter in a successful collaboration to support children caught in humanitarian crises, such as the Syrian conflict.

Diesel creative director Nicola Formichetti created looks for men and women for the fashion show, disassembling popular Diesel items to add fresh appeal.

Paradise goes organic

Health-conscious customers can enjoy, taste and buy organic produce next month at the “Organic Paradise…Good Health Starts from Organic Farm” fair running at Paradise Park from June 8 to 11.

The fair will allow visitors to enjoy organic-related activities through a “Well-Being Passport” that will take them into four unique organic farms. At the “Organic Vegetable Farm”, for example, you can check out whether you have consumed the recommended 400 grams of vegetables, and get an additional 400g of nutritious produces.

Check blood sugar and mental acumen at the “Clinic Farm” and benefit from a host of medical advisory services. At the “Lemon Farm Organic PGS” you’ll meet organic farmers and discover their local dishes, which include moji rice wrapped in red beans, biscuits made from rice, rice ice cream, and gooseberry frappuccino known for the high anti-oxidant properties. The last stop is the “Organic Vegetable Production” zone where you can learn the simple way to grow organic produce.

“The contemporary lifestyle poses risks to health. Alcohol consumption, smoking, lack of exercise, stress, and insufficient sleep all are conducive to non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, stroke and heart failure, emphysema, cancer, high blood pressure, obesity and chronic renal failure,” says Nunthavat Navaratpong, chief executive officer of Paradise Park.

“To minimise the risks, the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends daily consumption of 400g to 600g of vegetables and fruits. The fair aims to raise consumption awareness and encourage eating organic vegetables and fruits daily.”

Shoppers can take home organic vegetables, organic milk, black beans, sweet potatoes, and black sesame seeds that are free of non-dairy creamer and full of protein, calcium and folate. At the health corner, visitors will be allowed to create their own healthy bowl by selecting organic vegetables and a variety of salad dressings.

SYDNEY – Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise revealed Wednesday he plans a sequel to the cult action film Top Gun, with filming set to begin next year.

Rumours have swirled for years that he would revisit the 1986 movie that made him a household name, and Cruise finally spoke out while in Australia to promote his latest flick “The Mummy”.

Asked by a Channel Seven breakfast TV host about whether a second instalment of the action drama was on the cards, he replied: “Yes, it’s true.”

“I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year.

“It’s happening, it’s definitely happening.”

The original Top Gun, which also starred Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis and Tim Robbins, received mixed reviews but was a huge commercial hit.

Directed by Tony Scott, Cruise played hotshot US Navy pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who has a dangerous and reckless flying style.

He struggles to balance life, responsibility and a love affair while competing at the Navy’s fighter-weapons school.

See what Gyp and Vick’s came up with

Thai fashion brand Vick’s has collaborated with actress Pokchat “Gyp” Thiamchai for a special collection “On Solitude – A Walk with Nature”.

Sharing a passion for travelling, Gyp and Vick’s team transform their experiences into clothing inspired by beautiful nature. Not only is the collection congruously beautiful in nature, it also looks charmingly great in the concrete jungle too.

The collection began with fabric research and an effort to find a balance between harmony with nature and wearability.

Taking trips to the North and Northeast of Thailand, Gyp and Vick’s team found their treasure in the beauty of local fabrics. Hand-dyed indigo cotton from Ubon Ratchathani, textured hand-loomed cotton from Khon Kaen and Jim Thompson Thai silk were among the fine, delicate fabrics they explored.

Combining linen, floral prints and batik-printed cotton, they crafted a collection of laid-back yet stylish and versatile pieces that are perfect for city wanderers and holidaymakers.

Highlight pieces include a front-tied crop top with matching wide-leg trousers in a sunflower print, a linen sleeveless wrapped dress paired with a hand-dyed indigo cotton obi, and a rad-and-baggy one-shoulder dress in Jim Thompson silk.

The collection is available at Vick’s flagship store on Bangkok’s Ari Soi 2, Siam Paragon, the Emporium or online at http://www.VicksWeekend.com.
