Cats are in the spotlight at the exhibition “Meaw aey Meaw Meow” (“Kitty Kitty cat”) now showing at Phufa Treasure Trove at 4th floor of Siam Paragon, which looks back at the history of cats, an animal that has played an important role in the lives of humans for millennia. The felines have been the inspiration for novels, poems, paintings and musical and have even stuck a paw into diplomatic circles, such as when the Siamese cat was sent as an ambassador to enhance the relationship among nations

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony on November 28 and graciously permitted some of her photos of cats and her cat figurines to be part of the exhibition.

In Thailand, cats get a mention in ancient expressions and are important characters in the folk tales. The cat also plays a role in royal ceremonies and village rituals and any feline fan will enjoy reading about the characteristics of 17 sacred cat species recorded in a book of knowledge.

Phufa Treasure Trove was initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as a space to cultivate creativity, imagination, innovation, and integrate science, technology, and the arts. The shop offers exhibitions, products and souvenirs which tell stories of aesthetic and utilitarian values, and meanings of objects invented and used from early times to the present.

The exhibition is open daily from 11am to 8pm.

Moving away from her traditional Siam Paragon venue, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya took over the ballroom of the Park Hyatt Bangkok last Saturday evening to introduce her Sirivannavari Autumn/Winter in a blaze of fuchsia.

To a backdrop of a sunny day in the French Alpine ski resort of Courchevel, models took to the catwalk to show off warm winter wear such as capes, coats and a Napoleonic jacket all with pops of fuchsia pink, the main colour of the collection, along with a full range of fashion products such as leather clothing, accessories and jewellery for the ladies and smart togs for guys by S’HOMME.

The new collection consists of a total of 34 items, divided into 27 looks for women and seven for men.

The Princess says that she wants to give freedom to young women to show their own style and have fun mixing and matching separates to come up with a look that is both elegant and romantic. The warm shirts look inviting with a feminine/masculine structure and come in shades of white, snow, grey, black, baby blue and, of course, that lively fuchsia pink.

“Actually, it is my style of dressing while I’m abroad. Although Thailand is not very cold, these days a lot of Thais travel abroad during the cold season. I thought it was time for Sirivannsvari to design an Autumn/Winter collection so that Thais could see how to style winter clothing and wearing winter clothes made by Thais,” the Princess explains.

“For this collection, I chose to use the silhouette and characteristics of the brand and combined that with winter materials such as tweed, Italian cashmere, metallic cashmere, wool fabric, suede and feathers expressed as a modern winter lifestyle. For the Napoleonic jacket, the silhouette is asymmetrical silhouette while the cape and overcoat are made from cashmere and look perfect with ankle boots and new wedge pumps. ”

The collections for both men and women are now available at the Sirivannavari boutique on the first floor of Siam Paragon.

King Rama X has stripped Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi of her “Chao Khun Phra” or noble consort title as well as her military rank.

The Royal Gazette published on Monday (October 21) that His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua had also recalled her Royal insignia, owing to her undesirable behaviour as a Royal servant and being disloyal to the Royal Family.

The statement said Sineenat had been against the appointment of Queen Suthida and had given many orders under the name of Their Majesties for her personal benefit. She also reportedly engaged in activities without His Majesty’s approval, which caused confusion among the public.
