Thailand Privilege Card has top-tier clients from China, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, some of whom are interested in buying property in Thailand but lack knowledge about the rules and regulations and reliable market information that can help them make the right decision.

CBRE will offer one-stop consulting services to foreign investors including representing them in buying, selling, leasing all types of properties as well as providing investment consultancy, market research, valuation and advisory services. CBRE will also provide guidance on buying and investing in residential projects, resort homes and other types of properties that meet the investment needs of each Thailand Elite member.

“CBRE experts are equipped with extensive knowledge of property investment in Thailand, in-depth market data from CBRE Research, and over 33 years of experience in the market. On top of these, we have a large selection of premium properties in Bangkok and resort destinations which can be matched with client’s needs whether for investment, vacation home or retirement home purposes,” Charinya added.

Somchai Sungsawang, president of Thailand Privilege Card, said: “This partnership is another important step forward for Thailand Privilege Card as it will help expand our range of services for Thailand Elite members which currently number over 13,600 members worldwide, especially in real estate investment. In addition, it will boost the domestic economy and enhance Thailand’s image as one of the most investable and attractive living locations. We have chosen CBRE as our partner in real-estate consultancy for our members because of its rich experience, world-class reputation, and leadership position as a sales representative for numerous residential properties priced at over THB10 million. This could also contribute to the targeted increase in the number of our members for this year.”

Though the Covid-19 situation in Thailand has not eased, CBRE believes that when the situation returns to a controllable state coupled with an effective vaccination drive and the country’s reopening in the second half of this year, tourists will start returning to Thailand and the real estate market will gain interest from foreign investors again, especially the high-end market which usually bounces back faster than other segments.

CBRE has been preparing a marketing strategy and building an integrated platform to accommodate the return of high-purchasing-power foreign investors.

It said it is confident that, in the long run, Thailand’s potential and effective government measures will help stimulate the economy and bring back more foreign investors within this year.

Mahidol University researchers invent rice extract-based mouthwash for the elderly

A mouthwash made from rice extract, invented by researchers at Mahidol University, can help reduce oral health problems in elderly patients and side-effects from head and neck cancer treatments, the university said.

Mahidol University researchers invent rice extract-based mouthwash for the elderly

Studies have shown that elderly patients often see dental plaque develop on exposed tooth roots and find it more difficult to remove them than younger patients. Apart from brushing teeth, gums and tongue, using a suitable mouthwash together with scaling and root planning by dentists can help facilitate more thorough cleaning in elderly patients who have trouble brushing their teeth due to the loss of skill in holding a toothbrush or their visual problems. This causes various oral diseases such as chronic periodontitis, bad breath, thrush and dry mouth, including gum tissue and oral mucosa becoming thinner, easily irritated and risk of developing mouth ulcers. However, using a mouthwash containing natural extracts that have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects in conjunction with scaling and root planning might be a new hope for the prevention and mitigation of such diseases, the university said.

After over 10 years of effort in cooperation with female dentist Dr Jintana Phokaratsiri, the research team and the private sector to help drive the market, Assoc Prof Dr Salunya Tancharoen, head of Pharmacology Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, has done a research on a complete range of development for innovative mouthwash made with Thai rice extracts. She discovered that different types of Thai coloured or pigmented rice could be used as raw materials for developing a nutraceutical product. The rice extracts have antioxidant properties, kill germs and prevent inflammation of the soft oral mucosa which is a side-effect of radiotherapy or chemotherapy for cancers of the head and neck, the university said.

Developed for elderly patients with oral disease problems, the mouthwash is safe and has the specified properties that are suitable for the group, the researchers said.

They said this was the first time a mouthwash has been developed for elderly patients with oral disease problems, but the product also ensures safety with organic ingredients.

The crop of Thai rice used is free of pesticides and passed the standards of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture used to verify organic agriculture worldwide. Environmentally friendly methods are promoted, such as the technology of “Klaeng Khao”, which is an alternative wetting and drying based on to the agricultural philosophy of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the removal of some grass from the dykes for water flows without the use of grassicides.

Product testing of this rice-extract mouthwash in elderly patients for three months found that they did not have mouth burning symptoms while feeling hydrated in the throat and mouth, plus being satisfied with the pleasant taste of this herbal mouthwash, the university said. Moreover, when tested with a breath test meter, the elderly patients have decreased halitosis.

The research team is continuing to develop various kinds of oral products to help reduce the inflammation of soft mucous membranes within the mouth and the dry-mouth symptom, which are side-effects of head and neck cancer treatment.

The research on the innovative Thai rice extracts has been published in leading international academic journals in a total of three issues and patent has been filed for four intellectual property rights by the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management, Mahidol University. It is also in the process of requesting a certification mark from Food and Drug Administration before it goes on sale in October 2021.

It will help Thai farmers, the backbone of the nation, to have good health from organic or chemical-free farming and have a better economic status by increasing the worth and value of Thai rice, Mahidol University said.

Mr. Akihisa Yokoyama, President of Siam Daikin Sales Co., Ltd., the world’s leader in air conditioning technology, reveals that Daikin has employed a strategy to create and develop air conditioning systems that “perfect the air” to deliver pure and clean air to consumers. The improved products would feature innovations for health and hygiene to accommodate the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic that forces consumers to adopt New Normal lifestyle and look for health-improving devices and tools.

Daikin is committed to “Perfect the Air” develop air conditioning innovation for health with the launch of Daikin’s patented Streamer technology deactivate SARS-CoV-2 virus deliver pure, clean air to consumers

Daikin is delighted to announce the technology that fills this consumer’s need. The Daikin patented Streamer technology has been verified of its efficacy of successfully intercepting SARS-CoV-2 by The University of Tokyo and Okayama University of Science in Japan.

The test was completed scientifically and concluded that, when Streamer was turned on for 3 hours, it has the ability to deactivate 99.9% of SARS-CoV-2 virus and MHV-A59, and 93.6% of SARS-CoV-2 virus and 91.8% of MHV-A59 after 1 hour. However, the rest was conducted in a lab with a Streamer discharger and the efficacy is not inclusive when the technology is used in the actual environment.

To further ensure the consumers in Thailand, Daikin has collaborated with Environment Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi to verify the efficacy of Streamer technology in ZETAS air conditioner, launched earlier in Thailand. ZETAS is the first Daikin air condition launched in Thailand with Streamer technology, which was previously launched in air purifier.

The test simulated actual consumer’s home environment in Thailand to make sure that the local climate will not affect or diminish the efficacy of Streamer technology. The test result shows that Streamer technology can deactivate 75 – 99.96% of virus, bacteria and fungus in the air conditioner unit in the first 8 hours of use and 99.9% of pathogens in the fourth day. It is confirmed that Streamer technology can deactivate virus, bacteria, fungus, allergens and harmful gases in the air.

Mr. Akihisa Yokoyama says that Daikin tested the technology with respected institute to ensure the Thai consumers of its validity and strengthen Daikin’s position as the air expertise company. Daikin will continue to test Streamer technology’s efficacy with more renowned institutions in Thailand to confirm the results.

Test results from The University of Tokyo and Okayama University of Science in Japan, as well as King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi show that Streamer technology embedded in Daikin air conditioner and air purifier has the ability to deactivate SARS-CoV-2 and reduce foul odor from bacteria and fungus in the air conditioner.

Mr. Akihisa Yokoyama continues that Daikin has been working closely with leading universities and state research institutes to test Streamer technology with harmful matters such as H5N1 virus, H1N1 Norovirus, harmful substances and bacteria that causes food poisoning. Streamer technology has also been tested against 60 harmful matters, which include 7 bacteria, 30 allergens and 19 dangerous chemicals and its efficacy was confirmed by a state research institute.

The improved products would feature innovations for health and hygiene to accommodate the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic that forces consumers to adopt New Normal lifestyle and look for health-improving devices and tools.

The streamer technology has been developed by Daikin Industries (Japan). In 2004, the technology was launched in the market with its highlight feature, the streamer discharge, that is capable of dissolving harmful substances in the air.

Streamer discharge is an air purifying technology that creates stable high-speed electrons – a technology that was hard to achieve at that time. Streamer’s ability to decompose matters with oxidation is higher than glow discharge. Moreover, when combined with the air’s molecule, these high-speed electrons can decompose matters with oxidation, allowing streamers to eliminate unpleasant orders, bacteria, and pollutants such as formaldehyde continuously and effectively.

This technology sets a new benchmark for household air conditioner and strengthens Daikin’s philosophy of not only cooling down the temperature but also perfecting the air. It also elevates the standard of air conditioner industry and inspires manufacturers to further develop technologies to the new height and deliver quality products with advanced technology to the consumers.

Daikin launches Daikin ZETAS to welcome the summer with streamer technology to eliminate virus, bacteria, fungus and unpleasant odor for clean air

Mr. Sarawut Tempattarasak, Corporate Planning Assistant General Manager of Siam Daikin Sales Co., Ltd., the world’s leader in air conditioning technology, announced the launch of Daikin air conditioner latest model, ZETAS, that comes equipped with Daikin’s patented streamer technology which helps eliminate virus, bacteria, fungus, allergens and various harmful gases in the air. Daikin ZETAS hit the market in March 2021.

Daikin launches Daikin ZETAS to welcome the summer with streamer technology to eliminate virus, bacteria, fungus and unpleasant odor for clean air

For the time, streamer technology emits high-speed electrons that can deactivate SARS-CoV-2 and MHV-A59 by 99.9% – the test result was confirmed by Tokyo University and Okayama University in Japan on 16 July 2020.

The patented technology that is featured in Daikin ZETAS harnesses 3C innovations: Clean Air, Comfort Room and Convenient Control, that bring cool, comfortable air with user-friendly control via smartphone.

The Clean Air innovation comes with Air Purifying Mode. The streamer technology emits high-speed electron that help decompose germs and harmful matters. Efficiency tests by leading institutions in and outside of Japan since 2014 reveal that streamer can deactivate virus, fungus, bacteria, allergens and 60 kinds of harmful gasses, hence reduces germs and unpleasant odor to generate clean, pure air.

The model also has upgraded Mold Proof Function that better prevents moldy odor fungus. The automatic cleaning feature creates water from condensation to clean the fan coil then rids the moisture with blowing wind infused with streamer’s electrons to deactivate remaining germs in the air conditioner unit. The latest filter not only effectively filters PM2.5 dust but also virus, bacteria, unpleasant odor and allergens with Enzyme Blue technology that is proven to deactivate 99% of germs.

The Comfort Room innovation delivers cool and comfortable air with Hybrid Cooling technology that automatically keeps humidity level to 50-60% RH, which is scientifically proven to be the most suitable humidity level for Thai consumers, allowing for comfortable, light and pleasant feeling.

The last innovation, Convenient Control, is powered by built-in wi-fi adaptor that allows for easy control anytime from anywhere via Daikin Mobile Controller application on smartphone.

Mr. Sarawut added that Daikin ZETAS’s swing compressor also helps save energy, hence save electricity expenses. The fitted Super PCB PRO Inverter circuit board is also extra durable, and it helps protect the air conditioner unit damage from drop in voltage and power surge, allowing the unit to continue operating at as low as 130 volts and no damage through 440 volts of power surge. The board is also coated with dust-free, humidity-free and pest-free surface, and comes with 3-year warranty for this part.

Daikin ZETAS FTKZ09/12VV2S also comes with Intelligent Eye that maximizes comfort with automatic human movement detection, allowing for specific air flow or comfort airflow. Every BTU capacity of the model comes equipped with motion censor to save energy. The smart technology increases room temperature by 2 degrees Celsius when  no human movement and reverts to the pre-set temperature when motion is detected.

Daikin ZETAS condensing unit is also pest-proofing. Small animal, such as house lizards, can cause serious damage to the circuit board, especially for residential areas upcountry. The newly improved condensing units either have smaller than 4mm access to the circuit board or are paved with proofing stickers (for slots wider than 4mm) to minimize possible damage from pest and prolong service life of the product.

Bangkok, (19 April 2021), JKN’s chief executive officer, Jakkaphong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, said the company is now ASEAN’s leading content manager and distributor via satellite TV, digital TV, and online platforms.

She said the achievement resulted from the board’s expertise and its ‘superstar marketing’ strategy, which allows the company to curate content that meets the customers’ needs.

“Korean, Indian and Filipino series fever has emerged in Thailand due to our many years of experience in content management and distribution,” says Anne Jakrajutatip, CEO of JKN Global Media PLC.  “As JKN is a content company with high growth potential, the company was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand on November 12 last year to allow more institutional and retail investors to invest in the company’s share and witness the company’s growth together,” she added.

To promote JKN as a content and commerce company to maintain sustainable growth, she said the company had launched health and beauty products such as C-TRIA, Olig Fiber, V-Allin, Hair Now and Instinct by Anne JKN.

“To achieve a quantum leap in sales, we use ‘superstar marketing’ strategy by hiring celebrities to be presenters of our products,” she said.

“In addition, Herbal Drinks under Cupid brand, such as Dragon X and Tiger X, are expected to be launched within this month.”

She added that more than ten dietary supplements and drinks with hemp extract are currently under development with DOD Biotech.

“We are seeking more partners to develop products with hemp extract in a bid to meet customers’ needs,” she added.

She said JKN had acquired DN Broadcast’s NEW18 digital TV channel, whose name will be changed to JKN18 to expand its customer base and boost its commerce business’s growth in line with the new normal.

“With quality product innovation, JKN18 channel, and superstar marketing strategy, we have confidence that our commerce business will enable the company to achieve our ambitious sales growth,” she added.

Huawei ‘can survive US sanctions’ – but won’t be building self-driving cars

Apr 19. 2021

Eric Xu

By The Nation

Chinese tech titan Huawei unveiled five strategic initiatives for the post-Covid world at its 18th Global Analyst Summit, held recently in Shenzhen.

Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to getting everyone in Asia-Pacific online but said it won’t follow tech giants like Google by making its own cars.

The company’s five strategy initiatives are:

1. To optimise its portfolio to boost resilience by strengthening its software capabilities and investing more in businesses that are less reliant on advanced process techniques, as well as in components for intelligent vehicles.

2. Maximise 5G value and define 5.5G with industry peers to drive the evolution of mobile communications.

3. Provide a seamless, user-centric, and intelligent experience across all user scenarios.

4. Innovate to reduce energy consumption for a low-carbon world.

5. Address supply continuity challenges.

Huawei also responded to the ongoing global shortage of microchips and semiconductors used to build them.

“Rebuilding trust and restoring collaboration across the global semiconductor supply chain is crucial to bringing the industry back on track,” said Eric Xu, Huawei’s chairman.

The shortage has heightened trade tensions with the United States, which accuses China of stockpiling product and preventing its export.

Asked about Huawei’s strategy to survive under US sanctions, Xu said the company remained confident and determined to continue working with global customers and partners to address supply challenges.

Any chipmaker reliant on American technology cannot sell to Huawei without being penalised by US authorities.

Xu said Huawei will manage its existing inventory to sustain it for longer, which meant “taking a more focused approach as we work with different regions and customers”.

The company had no hope of being removed from the US sanctions list in the short term, he added.

Huawei also reaffirmed its strategy to help others build self-driving cars with its tech expertise, rather than building cars itself. Huawei has partnered with three Chinese carmakers – Beijing New Energy Automobile, Chongqing Chang’an and Guangzhou Automobile Group.

Also underlined was the company’s push to bring digital to every person, home and organisation in the Asia Pacific region.

Xu said Huawei business growth had remained stable amid the Covid-induced economic crisis, with revenue growing 3.8 per cent and net profits increasing 3.2 per cent. The company’s strategy last year was to stockpile in bulk, so its operating cash flow was 35.2 billion yuan, which was also in line with its forecasts.
