CHIANG MAI ZOO
An Indian prince has offered to ask his country’s government to lend a male rhino so it can mate with its female counterpart at Chiang Mai Zoo.
His Highness Maharajkumar Rana Shri Karandeep Singh Sahib, the Prince of Dholpur, from Rajasthan State, made this offer during his visit to the zoo yesterday.
He stopped at the enclosure of |30-year-old Kali, the only Indian |rhino in a Thai zoo, and said that he would ask the Indian government to lend a male rhino of the same species to mate with Kali and that the zoo would be allowed to keep the offspring. The animal was presented to His Majesty the King by the Nepal monarch in 1986.
The prince recently became a media sensation after he took part in a procession of traditional northern-style dancers in Chiang Mai on Monday. He has studied the Khon mask dance and other arts at universities in Bangkok.
