YouTube is the most popular application among children worldwide, including Thailand, global anti-virus firm Kaspersky said on Monday.

YouTube the favourite app of children worldwide

The firm reviewed anonymised data, such as search queries, the most popular Android applications, and website categories and provided voluntarily by Kaspersky Safe Kids users, to explore the most popular children’s interests between January and March.

This data can help parents to better understand their children’s favourite subjects and passions, it added.

Global statistics showed that the top five popular applications among children were: YouTube (31.6 per cent), TikTok (19 per cent), WhatsApp (18 per cent), Roblox (7.5 per cent) and Chrome browser (7.3 per cent).

In Thailand, children’s top applications are: YouTube 24.07 per cent, Line 13.61 per cent, TikTok 11.42 per cent, Messenger 8.34 per cent and Facebook 8.26 per cent.

The global statistics of children’s requests in Kaspersky Safe Kids also showed their interests as follows:

Anime: Among Japanese cartoons, children are most interested in Naruto and My Hero Academia.

Bloggers: They are opinion leaders for many children and are watched and imitated, helping many kids to learn about the world and find friends among like-minded people.

DIY – Do it yourself: A popular category of videos in which the author shows how to create a product with a step-by-step guide. It can be anything from a birdhouse to assembling a computer or garden furniture.

Educational: Modern social networks and platforms contain a wide variety of educational content.

Memes: ‘Animation memes’ are the most popular meme request among kids. They are typically short animations of a character dancing or sometimes singing along to music with the intent to be spread or repeated by other animators with their own characters.

“As one of the world’s most active digital citizens, it is no surprise that Thai children are enthusiastic explorers of the digital world themselves,” said Sandra Lee, managing director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky.

She said the majority of Thai children are relying on the internet not just for study but also for play and entertainment, most likely because of remote-learning blues amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We encourage parents to stay informed and commit to sitting down with their kids extensively, as it’s an effective way to keep their children responsible and safe digital citizens,” she added.

Tech company D.Oasis has launched a metaverse platform in collaboration with 30 businesses and 25 celebrities to help businesses make an easier entry into the virtual world of new opportunities.

Over 50 firms, celebs join hands as D.Oasis launches metaverse

As a new technology platform, D.Oasis said it plans to speed up providing facilities for businesses. It has purchased space in the world-class Sandbox Metaverse.

Sandbox Metaverse is a virtual reality blockchain platform that already has several major brands on board, including Adidas, Gucci, HSBC, Atari, Walking Dead, Shibuya109, Snoop Dogg, and Paris Hilton etc.

Metaverse is a collective virtual space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical and digital reality.

Gartner, a global research firm, has forecast that by 2026, 25 per cent of people will spend at least one hour a day in the metaverse for work, shopping, education, social media and/or entertainment.

“Thailand missed the boat with Web 2.0. However, with Web 3.0, we should take the lead and get enterprises into the metaverse as soon as possible,” said Sirikiat Bunworaset, CEO of D.Oasis.

He predicted that in the next eight years, one-third of Thais will enter the metaverse.

Sirikiat has been working in the management consulting business for more than 25 years. He has been focusing on corporate finance, financial modelling, investment planning, corporate strategy, and value-based management.

He emphasised the strong integration of alliances across industries into the same global platform metaverse and has positioned D.Oasis to become one of Asia’s Web 3.0 leaders, with plans to extend its partners in Thailand and Asia to 100 enterprises within the next year.

Web 2.0 refers to the internet version that most people are familiar with today. Web 3.0, in this context, refers to blockchain-based decentralised apps.

D.Oasis announced the names of its partners at the launch on Tuesday. They include J Ventures, Index Creative Village, Eventpass, Warrix Sport, Prakit Holdings, Asava Group, Dhurakij Pundit University, LDA World, Mission to the Moon, and Smallroom, etc.

There are also 25 well-known Thai celebrities, business people and athletes who have joined the platform such as Tattoo Color, Polycat, Pyra, Mike Angelo, and Vj Woonsen, etc

Sirikiat said that newcomers to the metaverse don’t have to worry about incurring high expenditure on technology or attracting new consumers because jumping into a platform that already has a client base will allow their businesses to flourish together rapidly.

To grow D.Oasis, Sirikiat said that “Human X Club NFT” has been established to bring together customers and followers of the major celebrities for a privileged event and other activities.

“Human X Club NFT” will host concerts, games, and meetings with celebrities.
D.Oasis aims to profit from the platform’s space as well as the celebrity’s character designs as “Human X Club NFT”.

Over 50 firms, celebs join hands as D.Oasis launches metaverse

NFT is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos.

D.Oasis is expected to generate around THB40 million from selling 7,000 unique character designs as NFT from the first collection. Each character is priced in the range of THB5,000-7,000, said Sirikiat.

This year, the platform plans to release 4-5 collections. Each collection has different characters, he said.

“The NFT buyers will receive privileges, such as priority to attend a concert, a discount, for instance, or a fan club meeting,” said Sirikiat.

CUSCUS, a well-known designer who creates all of the characters, will produce designs for each celeb. Each celeb will have 100 different designs in “Human X Club NFT”.

Apirak Apisarnthanarak, the managing director of Prakit Holdings, said that Creator District is key to help leverage brand experience in D.Oasis.

The future of the creative advertising world is emerging to provide a space for people with ideas and brands to meet and generate income in the form of create-to-earn, he said.

New documentary sheds light on Huawei’s influence in Thailand

China-based Japanese filmmaker Ryo Takeuchi recently released a documentary series called “100 faces of Huawei”. The film, which gives viewers a close look into the working of Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, also features interviews with employees.

This film is part of the technology giant’s efforts to introduce changes after the US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) added Huawei and 68 of its non-US affiliates to the BIS Entity List in 2019.

The BIS Entity List includes foreign businesses, organisations and individuals who are subject to special licensing requirements for the export or re-export of certain items.

The documentary, meanwhile, spans Huawei operations in China, Japan and Thailand.

In the Thai segment, the film shows how the tech giant has expanded its reach and how it fosters a thriving digital ecosystem.

It also shows how Huawei helped turn Siriraj Hospital into Asean’s first smart hospital by introducing the latest 5G, cloud and AI technology to improve medical services and overall efficiency.

New documentary sheds light on Huawei’s influence in Thailand

Siriraj vice-director Prof Dr Cherdchai Nopmaneejumruslers said thanks to Huawei’s technological support, the hospital can now provide safer and more efficient services to patients. Huawei applications created for Siriraj include 5G ambulances and 5G unmanned vehicles.

The film then shifts to an employee in Thailand, who explains how Huawei has provided connections and equipment to help farmers sell their products online. With technical support, farmers can now track changes in market prices and adjust their strategies.

Huawei has been working on its “Grow in Thailand, Contribute to Thailand” mission since 1999 to help with the country’s digital transformation.

Huawei employs 2,600 people in Thailand, 86 per cent of whom are Thai citizens, and has indirectly generated more than 8,500 jobs.

The tech giant also set up the Huawei Asean Academy (Thailand) in 2019 to cultivate local digital talent. The academy has trained more than 41,000 people and over 2,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in the past two years.

Huawei Thailand’s CEO Abel Deng said Thailand’s innovative ecosystem and talent are what drive Huawei’s continuous investment in the country.

Huawei became the first foreign company in recent years to win the 2021 Prime Minister Award for “Digital International Corporation of the Year”. In the same year, it was also named the “most admirable brand” by consumers and won the “Thailand TOP Company Award” for Best Digital Transformation Infrastructure.

Beam me up, Scotty! NASA doctor gets ‘holoported’ to space station

Star Wars turned to reality when a doctor appeared as a hologram to an astronaut at the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time ever on October 8, 2021, NASA reported recently.

Beam me up, Scotty! NASA doctor gets ‘holoported’ to space station

NASA flight surgeon Dr Josef Schmid and his crew were “holoported” to the ISS using the Microsoft Hololens Kinect camera and a PC with custom software Aexa, a NASA press release on April 8 said.

Schmid had a virtual consultation with astronaut Thomas Pesquet as part of his 3D telemedicine visit.

The “holoportation”, a word derived from hologram and transportation, featured a life-like visual and audio connection between the space centre and Earth.

The technology allows high-quality 3D models of people to be reconstructed, compressed and transmitted live anywhere in real-time.

Holoportation has been in use since 2016 by Microsoft, but this is the first time that it has been used in such an extreme and remote environment.

NASA expects to use this form of communication far more extensively in future missions. It reckons the next step will be to combine holoportation with augmented reality to enable telementoring.

However, the main obstacle to overcome is the 20-minute communication delay, especially as plans shape up for new missions to Mars.

Digital security high on agenda of DTAC’s cyber camp for Thai youth

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/tech/40014246

A state agency and an international tech giant have raised concerns about online safety for Thai youth amid the huge number of scams and frauds perpetrated in the digital world.

Digital security high on agenda of DTAC’s cyber camp for Thai youth

The Electronic Transaction Development Agency (ETDA) and Cisco said it was essential to educate the youth about cybersecurity and equip them with some tools to protect them from falling victims to preying online criminals.

Meetham na Ranong, ETA’s deputy executive director, was speaking during the launch of “Young Safe Internet Leaders Cyber Camp [YSLC] Season 4”. It aims to create awareness of cybersecurity among children and youth so that it becomes the new normal for their generation in order to protect their privacy and help navigate the internet cautiously, while using and engaging in all those things relevant to digital technology.
“As the world has stepped into the digital era, children and youth have to not only craft their skills in order to smartly adopt these technologies and innovations, but they also have to learn how to protect themselves from bad guys”, said Meetham
According to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), cybercrime is a growing global threat that could potentially cause as much as US$10.5 trillion in damage by 2025. Young people from over 150 countries around the world have called for global leaders to address cyber-risks which are impacting youth globally. In 2021, the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland included cybersecurity action in its latest Youth Recovery Plan.
Taveewat Chantaraseno, managing director of Cisco Systems (Thailand) Ltd, said cybercrime and other risks are increasing and becoming more complicated. He said cyber-threat awareness as well as strong preventive tools and measures are very important.

“It is our duty to support our children to learn about cybersecurity, especially during this time when digital has become an increasing part of our daily life. We would like to use our knowledge and technology to help enhance all their cybersecurity skills,” said Taweerat.
The concerns are aimed to be addressed at DTAC’s one-month cyber camp to promote cybercrime awareness among youth and incubate cybersecurity innovation projects, in cooperation with ETDA and Cisco.
The Young Safe Internet Leaders Cyber Camp Season 4 (YSLC #4) will offer youth an opportunity to learn about cybersecurity and how to stay safe and vigilant in the digital world, and experiment in a fun metaverse cybersecurity sandbox.
Cisco, as worldwide leader in technology, will leverage its Networking Academy program and expertise for YSLC Season 4. This digital upskilling course from the ETDA and Cisco aims to boost participants’ Digital Intelligence Quotient (DQ) and introduce the prevailing global cybersecurity challenges in 2022, such as deep fakes and phishing. Meanwhile, in the bootcamp, youth campers will interact with professionals who will inspire them with digital career guidance.
This year’s camp aims to enable an immersive learning experience, and it will take place in the metaverse. All participants will create their own virtual avatars and enjoy a wide range of various immersive activities, workshops and project incubations.
“Metaverse technology will allow participants to get a sense of being together in a virtual classroom. Metaverse will also facilitate them to learn how to protect themselves from cybercrime,” said On-uma Rerkpattanapipat, head of corporate communications and sustainability at Total Access Communication Plc (DTAC).
As Telenor Group’s global partner, Cisco will offer real-world case studies on cyberattacks, phishing attacks, identity thefts, and infrastructure cyberattacks. This initiative in Thailand is the first of two pilot projects under a new Joint Purpose Agreement between Cisco and Telenor Group aimed at addressing the digital divide in Asia.
Apart from learning about global cybersecurity challenges in 2022 and beyond, youth participants will learn the process of forming a startup – from team matching, design thinking and using a business model canvas, to pitching to the panel on a mini-demo day. Coaching will be given through the cybersecurity sandbox, which will serve as an online co-working space, enabling coaches and participants to work together effectively.
Meanwhile, the ETDA will introduce the “Digital Citizen” online,  which has been developed based on the framework of the DQ Institute, the international think-tank dedicated to setting global standards for digital intelligence. The Digital Intelligence (DQ) framework is the global standards and common framework for digital literacy, skills, and readiness. It was endorsed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development, and World Economic Forum in 2018, and has been widely used by nations, organisations, and companies championing digital intelligence.
According to the ETDA, participants can complete an original project that can work in the real world through effective teamwork, as well as learn important leadership skills and impact a changing digital culture. It’s also a chance to peek into the future and see what’s in store when it comes to digital career paths, while receiving additional resources and guidance from Cisco and ETDA. Participants will end the camp with a digital certificate to show what they have learned and accomplished.
On-uma expected this camp would help youth create new online norms and cultures that would lead to positive changes in the digital world.
DTAC Young Safe Internet Leader Cyber Camp 2022 is already open for applications. Upper high-school students aspiring to be cybercrime fighters and social innovators can apply from Wednesday until April 16 at  https://www.safeinternetlab.com/challenge/camp. Application and participation are free of charge and there is a scholarship purse of over THB400,000.

Nine real-estate developers in Thailand are negotiating the purchase of land in Bangkokverse in a bid to boost their presence in the metaverse.

Top Thai developers eyeing virtual land in Bangkokverse

Bangkokverse is the first metaverse platform developed by top Thai 3D creators, namely DOF, DECMedia, OwlStudio and Jom3D, who have worked to make the virtual city and buildings look as real as possible.

In an article published on Monday, Thansettakij media platform said nine developers – AssetWise, Frasers Property (Thailand), Raimon Land, Charn Issara Development, Eastern Star Real Estate, Grand Unity Development, Origin Property, SCOPE and TCC Assets – were studying and negotiating the purchase of virtual land.

As per the Bangkokverse master plan, a total virtual area of 876 rai divided into 848 plots is up for sale. However, the “superblock” or a prime area located next to a big park only has eight plots.

It is believed that the developers will use this as an opportunity to give Thailand’s real-estate world a brand-new facet. Though the price of these virtual plots has not been revealed, it is expected to be high and may rise in the future if the platform is successful.

Developers of Bangkokverse say the virtual city is expected to open in the third quarter of this year.

Thansettakij reckons Bangkokverse will transform Thailand’s property market, though some observers believe it is just a new trend that will possibly die down soon.
