Their Royal Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana presided over the unveiling ceremony of a King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) statue at Siam Cement’s headquarters in Bangkok on Sunday.

The King and Queen were welcomed by Siam Cement Group (SCG)’s president and CEO Roongrote Rangsiyopash, company executives and staff and members of the public.

His Majesty pressed a button to unveil the statue of King Vajiravudh in front of the headquarters building in Bang Sue at 6.18pm, before placing a pedestal tray of flowers and making an auspicious mark at the statue’s base while the orchestra played the Sansoen Phra Barami honours music.

Their Majesties then proceeded to the adjacent SCG 100th Year Building to place floral garlands in front of King Vajiravudh’s portrait and watch a video documentary on King Rama VI’s founding of SCG and the company’s history. Afterwards, they returned to Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall in Dusit Palace.

SCG was founded to set up the first cement plant in Bangkok by royal decree of King Rama VI on December 8, 1913. Since then, the company has expanded into various businesses under three core units: SCG Cement-building materials, SCG Chemicals, and SCG Packaging. SCG operations abroad include a packaging businesses in Malaysia, a petrochemical complex in Vietnam, and cement plants around the region.

At 6.48pm of Friday (March 19), His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana attended a holy ceremony to remove the cold season outfit on the Emerald Buddha statue and replace it with a summer wear at the temple of Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district.

Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, the Princess Rajasarinisiribajra served as a commandant of royal pages welcoming their majesties to the ceremony area.

On Friday a number of people showed up at Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram to greet their majesties before and after the ceremony. They were told to strictly adhere to disease control measures to prevent the spreading of Covid-19.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana performed a religious ceremony to make merit on Makha Bucha Day on Wednesday evening at Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district.

They were accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, the Princess Rajasarinisiribajra, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.

On Wednesday a number of people visited Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram to greet Their Majesties and to visit the newly opened Maharaj Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway located under Maharaj and Na Phra Lan roads near the Grand Palace.

Designed to improve pedestrian safety and reduce traffic congestion, the tunnel also currently features an exhibition along the underground route with photos of tourist attractions and important buildings in Phra Nakhon district.

The Public Health Ministry set up screening checkpoints at the ceremony’s entrances to prevent Covid-19 from spreading further.

Makha Bucha Day commemorates the fourfold assembly of 1,250 enlightened monks (arhat) that took place more than 2,500 years ago. All the monks, who had been ordained by Lord Buddha, met spontaneously, with no prior scheduling, under the first full moon of March (the month of Makha).

Chinese Ambassador Han Zhiqiang on Thursday handed over 100,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to a representative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The embassy said in a Facebook post on Friday that China was happy to help Thailand in the battle against Covid-19.

Princess Maha Chakri responded by thanking China for helping boost health security for Thai citizens.

This is the sixth batch donated by China, which has given Thailand 50.85 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, so far.

BEIJING, Feb. 4 — Wang extended welcome to Princess Sirindhorn for coming to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, saying that China highly appreciates the Thai royal family’s consistent adherence to a friendly policy, and is willing to work with Thailand to enhance and deepen China-Thailand relations.

Princess Sirindhorn expressed gratitude for China’s strong support for Thailand’s fight against COVID-19 and spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between Thailand and China in various fields.

Sirindhorn said she had visited China nearly 50 times and told Wang about her plan to publish books in Thailand on the history and achievements of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and to visit more places across China.

“In the face of the pandemic, China and Thailand have stood together to overcome difficulties,” Wang said, noting that China was the first country to provide vaccines to Thailand and is also the largest source of vaccines for Thailand.

He said that China is committed to making vaccines a global public good and has already provided over 2.1 billion doses to other countries, especially developing countries. “One out of every two doses of the vaccines currently used worldwide comes from China,” he added.

China will continue to provide support to Thailand in line with its needs until the pandemic is defeated, Wang said.

Wang appreciated the princess’ intention to compile and publish books on the CPC and China’s new development achievements.

The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen practical cooperation on education and culture, youth exchanges, traditional medicine, scientific and technological innovation, and other fields, continuously injecting impetus into bilateral relations.

The King’s speech was delivered from Dusit Palace on Friday at 8pm.

When facing problems or illnesses, we must not think only about ourselves, but work together as a society. By using compassion, understanding, unity and patience, everyone in society can overcome any hardship together.

“May the Holy Triple Gem and all the sacred things that you revere, as well as the virtues of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, protect your families and bless you with good health, strong spirit and intelligence that will help you and the country achieve happiness and prosperity together.”

The cover of the card carries the Chakri dynasty’s emblem and monograms of Their Majesties. Inside there is an image of Their Majesties, the words “New Year Blessing BE2565” and their signatures.

Director Tewin Rattanawongsawat said the Khao Kheow Night Safari has been in operation for more than 10 years. It will be transformed into a nightlife attraction.

Tourists, he said, would be amazed by the variety of wildlife, including herds of star deer and wild deer as well as gazelles that are naturally active.

Opening from December 24, the event will allow limited participants per night.

The zoo will also hold a New Year celebration on December 31, with a big screen set up to show a movie amid the “wild” environment located near the facility’s big natural pond. Tewin said this would be the zoo’s key selling point this year.

Adults will be charged THB590 per person and children THB250. It’s free for kids under 5 years.

Their Majesties the King and Queen laid the foundation stone on Sunday for a monument to His Majesty King Bhumibol the Great at a new public park being built in honour of the beloved monarch.

The King Rama IX Memorial Park, also known as Nang Loeng Public Park, is located in Bangkok’s Rattanakosin Island area, surrounded by important historic sites like the Emerald Buddha Temple and the Grand Palace.

The 279-rai park will be completed by 2024 and will showcase royal initiatives launched by King Bhumibol the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.

After the foundation laying ceremony, Their Majesties planted auspicious trees and viewed an exhibition featuring the beloved late monarch.
