Saudi Arabian delegations from both the public and private sectors are scheduled to visit Thailand from July 4-7 to discuss trade and investment between the two kingdoms, Board of Trade of Thailand chairman Sanan Angubolkul said on Thursday.

“This is a good opportunity to build mutual confidence in trade and investment. Thailand has the potential to become a hub in Asean for Saudi Arabian trade and investment,” Sanan said.

“The Board of Trade is confident that Thailand is well prepared to serve as Asean’s hub after recent roadshows,” he added.

The executive was referring to visits to Saudi Arabia by Thai delegations from the Board of Investment, the Eastern Economic Corridor and the private sector.

Sanan himself led a business delegation to Saudi Arabia for the first time in 32 years from May 15-18, in order to restore trade and investment.

After three decades of sour ties, Thailand and Saudi Arabia in January agreed to normalise diplomatic relations when Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha paid an official visit to the Gulf nation and met with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud.

Sanan said on Thursday that trade between both countries is estimated to reach tens of billions of baht this year.

He was speaking after attending a meeting of representatives from 38 companies who participated in the recent trip to Saudi Arabia. The meeting discussed the progress in negotiations with their Saudi counterparts, as well as business matching.

Sanan said Saudi Arabians appeared to be most interested in tourism and wellness, asking to learn about business management from the Thai side.

During last week’s roadshow, the Thai delegation introduced more selections of Thai-made food products to Saudi Arabian firms, in addition to their normal imports, according to Sanan.

He added, however, that the Thai government should ask Saudi Arabia to relax its import restrictions on certain food products, which he did not name.

“In addition to human food, the Saudis are also interested in animal food, as they have a lot of cats there,” Sanan said.

He also made it clear that Thai labour is in demand in Saudi Arabia, with that country seeking hospital executives, doctors, nurses, construction workers and automotive staff.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha invited Japanese businesses on Thursday to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor.

Prayut invites Japanese businesses to invest in EEC

Prayut extended the invitation during a speech at the 27th International Conference on the Future of Asia (Nikkei Forum) in Tokyo at 1pm local time.

He told Japanese investors he believes Japan is a true friend of Thailand.

Prayut said Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s visit to Thaiand and Asean early this month sent a positive signal for the region. The visit also marked the 135th anniversary of Thai-Japanese relations.

Japan is the second most important trading partner of Thailand and the two countries have been sharing strong economic ties since the signing of the Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement, Prayut noted.

He cited the bilateral trade value of US$60 billion (THB2.05 trillion) last year to prove that ties were strong.

Prayut also thanked the Japanese government and businessmen for believing in Thailand’s potential and for supporting the country’s economic and social development.

He expressed hope that Japan would attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be hosted by Thailand in November.

In his speech, Prayut also expressed confidence that Japan and other Asian nations will cooperate to revive the economy, survive the current crisis and cooperate to create peace and stability in the region.

The premier said Asian nations must support multilateral trade, with the World Trade Organisation serving as the moderator of rules.

He promised that Thailand would develop its business environment to facilitate international trade and investment and support foreign businesses.

Thailand, he said, is now upgrading its airports and developing its telecom networks and digital infrastructure, as well as high-speed Internet connection and cloud storage and smart city technologies.

Prayut said the country’s banking systems have been modernised with capacity to make transactions via apps. Thailand has also linked its digital payment system to those of Singapore, Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia and will expand the system to link other nations, especially Apec members.

Prayut went on to say that Thailand would firmly support multilateral trade, especially the idea of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).

Prayut pointed out that economic revival must be sustainable and one way to see this is to use clean energy. He invited Japanese investors to join Thailand’s mission in achieving its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

Prayut added that Thailand has now started its transition to clean energy by supporting and boosting the electric vehicle industry.

An adviser to the agriculture minister said on Thursday that Thailand would seek cooperation from Vietnam to leverage the bargaining power of the two major rice-producing nations.

Thailand seeks cooperation from Vietnam to boost rice price

Alongkorn Pollabutr, chairman of the committee steering Agricultural 4.0 policies and chairman of the Agritech and Innovation Centre, said he would discuss the details of plan with Vietnam in August.

Alongkorn unveiled the cooperation plan with Vietnam while he was giving an opening speech at the Agritechnica Asia & Horti Asia 2022 held at Bitec Bang Na Exhibition Centre.

At the event, Alongkorn welcomed Vietnam’s Deputy Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Tran Thanh Nam who was invited to attend the fair, a cooperative venture between Thailand’s Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry and the German Agriculture Society.Thailand seeks cooperation from Vietnam to boost rice price

In his speech, Tran thanked Alongkorn for welcoming him. He said his ministry would seek cooperation from the Thai agriculture ministry on five issues:

– Food security cooperation to increase value of crops

– Cooperation to boost the strength of farmers. Tran said Thailand has strong agricultural cooperatives and its Otop products are popular so Vietnam will send officials to learn about the work of cooperatives in Thailand.

– Cooperation to help Vietnamese farmers transition to farm machines

– Training in agricultural knowledge

– Cooperation on sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures.

Alongkorn said Thailand and Vietnam have a joint committee to function as a mechanism to facilitate agricultural and SPS cooperation between the two countries.

Alongkorn said the joint panel would schedule a meeting as soon as possible to discuss cooperation on seven issues:

• The Thai side will seek cooperation from Vietnam to cooperate on rice production and sale from the start to the export of rice with the goal to increase prices in the global markets so that farmers will have more income. Alongkorn said global rice prices were between US$300-400 per tonne during the past 20 years while the cost has been rising.

He said if the two countries cooperate on rice production and exports, they will have bargaining power and farmers in the two countries will overcome their poverty.

• Thailand will ask Vietnam to support the establishment of the Asean Rubber Council to develop the rubber industry and support plantation owners and increase the bargaining power of Asean rubber producers.

• The Thai side will ask Vietnam to speed up permission for import of mangoes and rambutans from Thailand after the two sides agreed in principle in 2016.

The Thai Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry will also ask Vietnam to approve the export of chickens and eggs to Vietnam after the two sides earlier agreed in principle to discuss more details in the next SPS meeting.

• The Thai side will ask Vietnam to allocate quota for Thai trucks to transport fruits vie Vietnam to China to reduce the chances of Thai fruits going rotten.

• The Thai side will propose logistics cooperation between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam at the Vung Ang pier and Haiphong pier to open more channels for export of Thai fruits and agricultural products to China and other countries.

• Thailand also wants to send officials to study Vietnam’s One Commune One Product operations.

• Thailand will ask Vietnam to inform the name of its contact point as soon as possible before the next SPS can be held.

The two sides have yet to schedule the visit.

Alongkorn said the two sides have agreed in principle to discuss these issues in more detail when the Thai delegation attends the Agritechnica fair in Vietnam in August.

He said the Vietnamese agricultural ministry promised to send a formal invitation to its Thai counterpart soon.Thailand seeks cooperation from Vietnam to boost rice price

He expects rice sales to increase this year in response to some positive factors, such as improvement in the Covid-19 situation, confidence in Thai rice quality and a weakening baht, resulting in competitiveness in the international market.

“The move is in line with our strategy to promote marketing and expand export opportunities for Thai rice, which will help generate revenue for the country and improve rice farmers’ quality of life,” he said.

The baht opened at 34.26 to the US dollar on Thursday, unchanged from Wednesday’s closing rate.

Baht may strengthen during trade today: market strategist

The currency is expected to move in a range between 34.15 and 34.35 on Thursday, predicted Krungthai Bank market strategist Poon Panichpibool.

Poon said the baht might fluctuate and strengthen during the day as the market is open to more risks and the dollar stabilises after the US Federal Reserve increased the interest rate according to market expectations.

The baht found support from increased gold sales as the price of the precious metal moved close to its resistance level from $1,850 to $1,860 (THB63,643) per ounce.

With the baht strengthening quickly, investors have changed their views on hedging tools.

Importers are waiting to buy the dollar if the baht strengthens to 34 or lower.

But exporters might offload the dollar if the baht weakens from 34.30 to 34.40.

Poon still advises businesses to use hedging tools such as options to manage risks in the highly volatile currency market.

Innovating nonstop, together for a better green digital life : Huawei

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/business/40015940

The digital economy has become a major engine of global economy. Green and low-carbon technologies have become new drivers for sustainable development. Asia-Pacific is ripe with opportunities for digital transformation, and a digital Asia-Pacific is rapidly approaching.

Innovating nonstop, together for a better green digital life : Huawei

According to Asean Development Outlook report and Southeast Asia Digital Economy Report, by 2030, Asean will become the 4th largest economy in the world. The region’s internet economy market is expected to reach $1 trillion.

In this process, Asia-Pacific countries have released clear policies for digitalization and low carbonization. Huawei regards Asia-Pacific as a strategic market. Over the past 30 years, Huawei has become a key player in the region’s digital transformation journey. Under the mission of “In Asia-Pacific, for Asia-Pacific”, Huawei is committed to becoming a key contributor to the digital economy in Asia-Pacific. And Huawei will use innovation to build a better green digital life from three aspects.

Leading digital infrastructure as the foundation for digital economy

First, build a leading digital infrastructure as the foundation for the digital economy. As a global company rooted in Asia-Pacific, Huawei actively supports the ICT and digital transformation policies in different countries. In these diverse ICT policies, digital infrastructure has become the foundation of the digital economy. Moreover, it is becoming more intelligent and green.

As a trusted ICT partner, Huawei hopes to help Asia-Pacific build a leading and green infrastructure, including 5G, broadband, and data centers. So far, Huawei has provided connectivity for more than 90 million households and 1 billion mobile users in Asia-Pacific. With the most advanced technologies and best services, the company is the largest ICT solution provider in the region. According to the Gartner report, Huawei’s IaaS market share ranks No.2 in China and No.4 in the emerging Asia Pacific market.

While Asia-Pacific moves toward carbon neutrality, Huawei integrates digital and power electronics technologies and enables energy digitalization for a greener future. In Singapore, Huawei collaborated with Sunseap Group to develop one of the world’s largest offshore floating PV projects. It’s expected to produce over 6 million kWh of energy per year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 4,200 tons.

An open and collaborative ICT industry ecosystem
Second, Huawei will build an open and healthy industry ecosystem with customers and partners. In Asia-Pacific, Huawei has established partnerships with 7,900 enterprise partners, 2,000 cloud partners, and 200 universities. To enable ICT startups in Asia-Pacific, Huawei plans to invest 100 million USD in the Spark project over the next three years. Facing the future, Huawei will bring global R&D ability to the local market and innovates based on customer needs. For example, Huawei and partners built Open Lab in Singapore and the 5G Ecosystem Innovation Center in Thailand. Currently, 5G EIC has gathered more than 100 partners to incubate 5G applications. Based on the platforms above, Huawei hopes to help customers and partners make good use of infrastructure and extend ICT capabilities to industry digitalization.

An inclusive Digital Asia-Pacific

Finally, Huawei commits to building an inclusive digital Asia-Pacific. As digitalization speeds up, there is also a stronger demand for digital talent. According to the Korn Ferry report, Asia-Pacific will face a 47 million talent gap by 2030. At the same time, this region is full of young energy and potential. Through the Huawei Asean Academy and Seeds for the Future, Huawei has worked with partners to train 170,000 local talents. In the next five years, Huawei will continue to train 500,000 digital talents for the Asia Pacific region.

Meanwhile, to leave no one behind in the digital world, by cooperating with Thailand’s customers and partners, Huawei contributed to the USO 2.0 project with the AirPON solution, which has provided broadband services to more than 14,000 villages. In Bangladesh, Huawei and partners launched the Digital Training Bus project to benefit over 240,000 women by 2023. Coming together is a beginning, and working together is a success. In the past 30 years, Huawei is rooted in the region’s fast digitalization journey. As always, Huawei is confident and determined to work with customers and partners, becoming a key contributor to the Asia-Pacific digital economy. Innovating non-stop, together for better green digital life.

Plus Property is applying its “PLUS EXTRAORDINARY LIVING” strategy to promote luxury residences and boost their values, as well as strengthen investment portfolios despite the Covid-19 crisis.

Plus Property goes to ‘extraordinary’ lengths to manage luxury homes

Thailand’s real-estate market shuddered to a standstill over the past two years due to Covid-19 and the shrinking economy. However, the demand for luxury residences continued unabated because the supply is limited.

Luxury residential projects are attractive to investors for several reasons, including location, quality of material and design, a reflection of refined taste as well as professional property management, so the property does not lose its value.

Plus Property goes to ‘extraordinary’ lengths to manage luxury homes

PLUS EXTRAORDINARY LIVING STRATEGY

Plus Property is one of the top choices when it comes to managing luxury projects thanks to its long-standing experience.

Suwannee Mahanarongchai, Plus Property’s Deputy Managing Director, Business Strategies and Asset Management, said the company is currently managing 300 projects worth more than 1.2 billion baht and expects its revenue to grow by 15 per cent in the 2021 fiscal year.

She said the company’s management portfolio has grown continuously, and it is now targeting super-luxury properties with its “PLUS EXTRAORDINARY LIVING” management strategy.

Plus Property goes to ‘extraordinary’ lengths to manage luxury homes

The strategy focuses on three strengths:

• TIMELESS PROPERTY: Plus Property ensures the property remains beautiful and does not lose its value over time, like Baan Kai Mook, Hua Hin, which it has been managing for over 30 years now. Thanks to Plus Property’s close attention to detail, this property’s value has grown 10-fold.

Similarly, Property Plus has ensured that the timeless pieces like 200-year-old furniture, high art and books from the World War era on display in common areas of the super-luxury 98 Wireless do not lose their value.

It has also employed specialised personnel to look after the handblown glass chandelier flown in from Italy’s Murano region and Italian marble used at the KHUN by Yoo condominium.

Plus Property goes to ‘extraordinary’ lengths to manage luxury homes

• CUSTOMISED SERVICE: Plus Property designs services based on the project’s concept, lifestyle as well as residents’ needs and preferences.

For example at KHUN by Yoo condominium project in Bangkok’s Thonglor area, which was built in collaboration with world-class designer Philippe Starck, Plus has designed a special coffee and tea menu for residents to choose from.

Similarly, it offers a specialised butler service for residents at 98 Wireless and The Monument Thong Lo projects.

• EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE: To “Surprise & Delight” residents, the company provides special, unparalleled services. For instance, it helped organise a special event for residents at the Baan Sansiri Pattanakarn project, while at 98 Wireless it has a special system of serving food in a private lounge for residents and providing housekeeping services. It also organises special events on special occasions such as cocktail or movie nights.

Plus Property goes to ‘extraordinary’ lengths to manage luxury homes

“Plus aims to boost its management portfolio by 20 per cent and more luxury properties, 65 per cent of which will be condominiums and 35 per cent houses. The company has more than 25 years of experience in managing luxury and super-luxury properties and knows exactly what is expected by residents,” Suwannee said.

“The company looks at management from all aspects, ranging from managing cohabiting, attention to customers’ details to flexibility, understanding building law and managing suppliers,” she added.

Plus Property goes to ‘extraordinary’ lengths to manage luxury homes

Plus manages several luxury projects including KHUN by YOO, 98 Wireless, The Monument Thong Lo, Baan Sansiri Pattanakarn, The River, Nivati Thonglor 23, Athenee Residence and The Bangkok Sathorn.

This year it is expanding into luxury detached houses and townhouses that serve as both residence and investment properties.

PTG reports Q1 sales revenue rise of nearly 21%

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/business/40015887

Company boasts No 1 market share of LPG sold via service stations

PTG reports Q1 sales revenue rise of nearly 21%

PTG Energy Plc reported first-quarter revenue from sales and services of 39 billion baht, up 20.8 per cent from a year earlier.

Company president and CEO Pitak Ratchakitprakarn said the rise came from the 19.8-per-cent expansion of PTG’s oil business, which contributed 95.4 per cent of total revenue. Meanwhile, revenue from the firm’s non-oil business rose 44.1 per cent year-on-year to 1.8 billion baht, accounting for 4.6 per cent of total revenue.

Sales and services costs increased 23.6 per cent YoY to 36.4 billion baht, due to rising fuel costs and the government’s diesel cap, which prevented PTG from adjusting retail prices in line with inflation.

The first quarter saw EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) at 1.26 billion baht and net profit of 163 million baht, a fall of 368 million baht YoY.

Pitak pointed out, however, that the government had revised its diesel cap in March to allow the retail price to rise.

PTG sold 1.264 million litres of diesel in Q1/2022 – a drop of 5.5 per cent YoY – but still maintained the second-highest market share. Meanwhile, PTG sales of LPG rose 69.2 per cent to 106 million litres. The company’s LPG market share via all channels in Q1/2022 stood at 6.5 per cent, placing it fifth, but PTG was the market leader for LPG sold via service stations with 23.8 per cent.

Addressing the business direction for the rest of this year, Pitak said PTG will focus on expanding the non-oil businesses by increasing product and service quality and rolling out more branches of its PunThai coffee shops in Bangkok neighbourhoods such as Silom, Chong Nonsi and Charoen Nakhon to attract urban customers.

“This year, PTG opened PT Max Park Salaya, which is the first service station in a community mall,” he said. “The station has 30 digitally controlled fuel pumps to accommodate a large number of customers, with staff trained under the PT Service Master programme to ensure fast and efficient service.”

PT Max Park Salaya also features a PunThai coffee shop, Coffee World, Max Mart convenience store, Nexx Pharma, Max Gas LPG station, Autobacs service centre, McDonald’s, Otteri Wash, as well as a co-working space for customers.

“We believed that PT Max Park Salaya is a model for future PT service stations that will be built on major roads throughout Thailand that have high earning potential,” said Pitak.

He added that PTG has earmarked up to 2 billion baht to invest with partners in non-oil businesses such as digital assets, transport, car service, healthcare and renewable energy. The firm hopes to push profit from these non-oil businesses to 50 per cent of total company profits.

“This year, we set a growth target for non-oil business EBITDA of 15-20 per cent,” he added.

PTG non-oil businesses had a total of 1,228 branches at the end of the first quarter this year.

These include 223 LPG stations, 17 EV charging stations, 358 PunThai coffee shops, 34 Coffee World branches (including overseas branches), 277 Max Mart convenience stores, 193 cooking gas shops, 34 Autobacs service centres, 40 Maxnitro lubricant changing stations, and 52 Max Camp rest areas.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will open bidding from Friday for its THB140 billion Orange Line electric railway project.

MRTA gives green signal for Orange Line bids

The MRTA announced that interested companies can purchase the “request for proposal documents” (RFP) at its headquarters from Friday until June 10 from 9am to 3pm.

The documents must be submitted to the MRTA before July-end.

It said the winner of the bid would be announced and a contract signed by late this year.

The Orange Line, stretching precisely 35.9 kilometres, will roll from Bang Khunnon to Minburi.

It is divided into the eastern section – from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Minburi, a length of 22.5km, with 17 stations (10 underground and seven elevated) – and the western section, from Bang Khunnon to the Thailand Cultural Centre, a length of 13.4km with 11 underground stations.

The project will be a joint venture between the MRTA and the private firm that wins the bid.

The MRTA will not only invest in land expropriation for the entire project but also for the construction of railway infrastructure on the eastern section.

The bid winner will need to invest in construction of the railway structure for the western section and install the electrical system, carry out maintenance and operate services.

The project is divided into two phases:

The first phase entails designing and installing the electric railway and carrying out test runs. This phase on the eastern section is scheduled to be completed in three years and six months and on the western section in six years.

The second phase is to operate and maintain the electric trains across a period of 30 years.

Food fair kicks off with aim to make Thailand world food hub

One of the biggest food and beverage industry exhibitions in the country, “Thaifex – Anuga Asia 2022”, opened on Tuesday, to showcase Thailand as a world food hub.

Food fair kicks off with aim to make Thailand world food hub

By positioning itself as one of the leading global hubs for quality agricultural products and food,  the country aims to generate over THB10 billion in trade value during the five-day event.

Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said during the opening ceremony that Thailand has now emerged as the 13th biggest food exporter in the world and fourth biggest in Asia.

Jurin said that though Thailand is quite strong in this market, competing with others and remaining the leader calls for some transformation to guarantee its premium quality products.

“The food and beverage industry plays a vital role in the Thai economy with a market share of 2.3 per cent in global trade. Despite the broad range of international trade constraints due to the global pandemic, Thailand’s food and beverages sector has managed to export over THB286 billion in the first quarter of 2022, growing 28.8 per cent compared to the same period of 2021. So, this means that this market is a strong growth opportunity for the country,” said Jurin.

He added that the export success stemmed from the teamwork of the public and private sector commerce mechanism, specifically the Joint Public and Private Sector Consultative Committee on Commerce.

Food fair kicks off with aim to make Thailand world food hub

“This body serves as a crucial mechanism to resolve trade issues, especially the international-related ones. One outcome derived from this mechanism was the reassurance to the world that Thai products, especially in the food and  agriculture industry, are safe and Covid- free,” he said.

In addition, Jurin has initiated a collaboration between four ministries —  Commerce, Public Health, Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Interior — to issue the Covid-19 Prevention Best Practice Certificate to 262 factories.

He insisted that the goal of this certification is to successfully establish safety standards and traceability to increase confidence and upgrade Thailand into the global hub for quality agricultural products and food.

Food fair kicks off with aim to make Thailand world food hub

In order to serve the world’s demand for sustainability, Jurin added that another key policy is to ensure Thai food follows the
Bio-Circular-Green Economy model. To achieve this, he has instructed the Department of International Trade Promotion to establish a comprehensive “soft power” strategic plan. “This plan will not only promote Thai cuisine to the world but also imprint the unique and captivating Thainess in the heart and conscience of people around the world. This will in turn lead to a higher demand for Thai products and services while growing Thai exports to the world,” Jurin said.

In addition, the Ministry of Commerce has continuously developed various international trade promotion activities to meet the changing demand of international buyers, Jurin added.

This year, while many countries have started reopening to international travellers, Thailand continues to rebrand from “Thai food” to “The World’s Food”.

As Asia’s largest and most comprehensive food and beverage trade show, Thaifex – Anuga Asia 2022 “The Hybrid Edition” is being held under the concept “Re-imagine the Future of the Food & Beverage Industry”. This is in response to the high demand of buyers who wish to travel to do business in Thailand.

The on-site fair runs from May 24-28 at Impact Muang Thong Thani, in Nonthaburi province. Meanwhile, those who cannot travel to Thailand can still visit the Thaifex Virtual Trade Show via the online platform held in parallel with the on-site trade event.

Jurin expects the “hybrid” trade fair to generate over THB10 billion in revenue to the Thai economy.
