Series : “Flowers of Goodness” From Dararat to Queen Sirikit
In 2017, during the royal cremation ceremony of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, hundreds of thousands of loyal Thai vcitizens crafted “Dararat” sandalwood flowers from corn husks to pay their final respects.
When Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, passed away in 2025, the Ministry of Culture and the Thai Scouts Promotion Foundation discussed continuing the tradition of offering handmade flowers. This time, however, they chose flowers bearing Her Majesty’s name: Queen Sirikit Cattleya Orchid, Queen Sirikit Rose, Mahaprom Rachinee, and Mok Rachinee. The materials were elevated to include rare fragrant sandalwood.
Each Queen Sirikit flower will carry a small tag on its stem, where individuals can write their personal pledge to perform acts of goodness beyond their duty—without seeking compensation. Examples include planting trees, purchasing artisanal products, donating blood or organs, and dedicating merit to Her Majesty. These are the kinds of deeds which Thai villagers call “sharing merit” or “dedicating merit.”
Workshops on how to make Queen Sirikit flowers will be held across Scout troops, schools, shopping centers, and Thai temples abroad.
This nationwide tribute to the Queen Mother will become one of the greatest mobilizations of goodness the world has ever seen.
