PTG Energy PCL (PTG) has joined up with Unit Co Ltd, a digital-asset investment start-up, to invest 300 million baht in setting up digital asset broker, Maxbit Digital Asset Co Ltd.
The new company will showcase digital assets and make them accessible to potential investors.
Pokkhet Ratchakitprakarn, managing director of Maxbit Digital Asset, said PTG has spent the past three years studying the digital asset market, which has been growing continuously over the past 10 years. The new firm focuses mainly on blockchain technology, while Thai laws and regulations are now clearer and support the growth of digital assets.
Maxbit will also base its offerings on data collected from PTG’s Max Card, which has more than 17 million members, 7.29 million of whom are aged between 18 and 40 – the age group that is interested in investing in cryptocurrency.
The company’s digital asset platform, Maxbit, will offer easy, fast trading options, like Coinbase, an American service provider for digital currency transactions.
The digital asset broker was set up with an investment of 300 million baht, 35 per cent of which was contributed by PTG, 35 per cent by Unit and the remaining 30 per cent by two minor shareholders.
Maxbit has received four licences from the Bank of Thailand, all of which fall under Max Solution Service Co Ltd (Max Card).
The company is currently applying to become a digital asset broker under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and will be able to start trading as soon as it gets a licence.
Once it becomes an official digital asset broker, Maxbit will be able to buy and search for digital assets that customers are interested in. It will also compare prices and offer the best deal.
“If we are successful, I believe this platform will change the digital asset investment scene in Thailand. It will also become one of PTG’s non-oil businesses that generate revenue sustainably,” Pokkhet said.
The new beef products will not only support the recovery of restaurants and the growing demand for dry-aged beef but will also reinforce Makro’s position as a beef destination with one of the most extensive range of products in Thailand, Makro said.
To cater to beef aficionados, Makro said it is introducing dry-aged Australian beef, which will be making its debut and showcased in a dry-ageing cabinet at Makro Food Service, Sukhumvit 22 branch.
The new beef products will not only support the recovery of restaurants and the growing demand for dry-aged beef but will also reinforce Makro’s position as a beef destination with one of the most extensive range of products in Thailand, Makro said.
Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand Allan McKinnon, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner and Counsellor (Commercial) Michael Helleman, and Ricardo Boarotto, chief executive officer of Makro Thailand Business Unit, along with Makro executives, attended the launch of the brand Prime Meat.
Prime Meat dry-aged Australian beef is launched in response to the rising trend of quality beef consumption in Thailand, a market with 15-20 per cent growth per year, Makro said. The products cater particularly to lovers of dry-aged beef, which is growing in popularity as a key ingredient in cooking. This is thanks to its concentrated flavour, distinct aroma, and tenderness, developed during the ageing process at suitable temperatures, humidity, and wind speed, all of which are carefully controlled in an ageing facility, Makro said.
As part of this launch, Makro has also installed its first dry-ager at Makro Food Service Sukhumvit 22 branch to offer a new experience where customers can view the ageing process within the display cabinet. The dry-aged beef is available at different ageing stages, from 21-60 days, and can be sliced to desired sizes.

Thailand’s largest sustainability network, Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT), has published its “SDGs Mega Trends 2022” report as a sustainable development framework focused on business transformation in the era of climate change.
Thailand’s largest sustainability network, Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT), has published its “SDGs Mega Trends 2022” report as a sustainable development framework focused on business transformation in the era of climate change.
The third annual SDGs Mega Trends report deals with climate change prevention and solutions.
“This is a crisis faced by everyone, and we must address it together, particularly the influential private sector. Corporate leaders are the most significant figures in establishing and directing business goals in compliance with these challenges,” GCNT chairperson Suphachai Chearavanont said.
This year, SDGs Mega Trends presented a UN Global Compact study on the climate perspectives of 1,232 CEOs drawn from 21 industrial sectors across 113 countries.
The survey, including exclusive interviews with CEOs from six of Thailand’s leading corporations, reveals their vision for reducing CO2 emissions and tackling other environmental problems.
The exclusive interviews include six CEOs of GCNT members with the vision to tackle climate change for business enhancement, namely, PTT Public Company Limited (Energy Transformation), Bangchak Corporation (Green Energy Balance on Business), The Creagy (Net Zero Economy), Charoen Pokphand Foods or CPF (Kitchen of the World), Mitr Phol Group (Dynamic new business) and Indorama Ventures (Circular Economy).
The work of the UN’s Net Zero Coalition is based on scientific data that is fundamental to new sustainable solutions and can be applied to value chains, as well as concrete policy, strategy and operational plans which can be put into practice by any organisation.
“By building awareness through SDGs Mega Trends, we expect to stimulate and promote tangible prevention and resolutions across industries,” GCNT said.
“The operations framework includes the government’s bio-circular-green [BCG] economic model, the green economy, nature-based biodiversity solutions, and innovation and technology development – particularly in clean energy, human rights and commitments to reduce the social gap.”
SDGs Mega Trends 2022 includes:
· Business model transition: Revision and transformation from traditional methods to green businesses or the establishment of alternative business models for sustainability to increase value and reduce negative impacts on the environment, with value-chain improvement. By implementing innovative development in basic infrastructure, organisations are prompted to handle changes and transition into sustainable industries that respond to future lifestyle trends and commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
· Green innovation: Investment in innovative green technology and clean energy can be applied throughout the value chain, such as by increasing the proportion of alternative energies with lower CO2 and pollutants, adjusting strategies in production and services and reducing negative effects of the value chain on the environment.
· Circular economy: Prompting the circular economy to build sustainability throughout the production chain with technology used to create value as well as cultivating available resources for maximum efficiency throughout the product lifecycle.
· Nature-based solutions: Biodiversity recovery and resilience through nature-based solutions, including forestation to help reduce carbon dioxide, enabling stability of conditions for humans and animals, restoring green abundance and preserving biodiversity.
· Human rights: Respecting human rights and equality as well as reducing gaps in access to resources. Protect vulnerable groups prone to risks via “just transition” trends involving farmers’ standards of living, upstream industries, SMEs, career support for vulnerable groups, social welfare, and new skills training for the workforce.
Among the GCNT member-companies whose CEOs presented their visions to tackle climate change for business enhancement were PTT Plc (Energy Transformation), Bangchak Corporation (Green Energy Balance in Business), The Creagy (Net Zero Economy), Charoen Pokphand Foods or CPF (Kitchen of the World), Mitr Phol Group (Dynamic new business) and Indorama Ventures (Circular Economy).

Leading blockchain company Bitkub Blockchain Technology and visual platform Metaverse Thailand have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to develop a visual world platform while enhancing the country’s metaverse platform.
Leading blockchain company Bitkub Blockchain Technology and visual platform Metaverse Thailand have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to develop a visual world platform while enhancing the country’s metaverse platform.
The purpose of this cooperation is to build new infrastructure and develop Bitkub Chain and Meta Chain together while strengthening the ability of both chains.
Users can own land in a visual world that is related to the physical map of Thailand. Initially, they can own business areas in Bangkok and use these lands to continue conducting business in the visual world.
The metaverse platform will use Web 3.0 technology, in which users can own decentralised wallets. This new dimension of technology will enhance users’ experiences and they can take ownership of every asset and business in the visual world.
Users can also utilise Meta tokens and Kub coins as a medium of exchange in the visual world. For example, they can exchange Bitkub NFTs, go in for decentralised finance and game financials, visit the Meta NFT marketplace, take part in marketing or virtual business and drop in at online stores. Additionally, they can make an exchange for other tokens on Bitkub Chain and via Meta.
“The cooperation between Bitkub Chain and Metaverse Thailand is another step in expanding the ecosystem from Bitkub Chain to Metaverse, in which we can connect to other projects via state-of-the-art technology,” said Bitkub Blockchain Technology CEO Passakorn Pannok.
“After Metaverse Thailand becomes our partner, 900,000 Bitkub Next users will have a chance to access Metaverse Thailand, while Metaverse Thailand users can also access Bitkub Chain’s ecosystem,” Passakorn added.
“This collaboration will accelerate technological development while dramatically increasing mutual benefit and productivity for both parties,” said Opas Chedpunt, co-founder of Metaverse Thailand and CEO of M Vision.
“Moreover, it will strengthen the metaverse ecosystem and inspire Thailand’s blockchain industry,” Opas added.
The prolonged Covid-19 situation is having a tremendous impact on the aviation industry and heavily affecting several related businesses such aviation refuelling.
The prolonged Covid-19 situation is having a tremendous impact on the aviation industry and heavily affecting several related businesses such aviation refuelling.
ML Nathasit Diskul, president of Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services (BAFS), a leading aircraft refuelling service provider with nearly 40 years of experience, said in a company press release that the crisis had forced the global airline industry to plunge to its worst pace in a century.
The International Air Transport Association predicts aviation-related businesses are expected to surpass their pre-Covid levels in 2024, with approximately 4 billion passengers per year worldwide. This number is expected to gradually double to 8 billion passengers a year by 2040.
The figures also indicate that aviation ground services equipment would need to increase to meet growing demand. This is in line with the BAFS’s commitment to sustainable operations, through the development and adoption of advanced technology, which will enhance the efficiency of aviation fuel services with global standards, the company said.
“BAFS Group’s main revenue comes from aviation refuelling,” Nathasit said. “We have a fleet of around 80 hydrant dispensers and refuellers, considered one of the largest in Asean, stationed at Don Mueang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. We plan to increase the proportion of our revenue from the company’s core business to 50 per cent and the remainder of the revenue, which comes mainly from our subsidiaries in the utilities and renewable energy businesses.
“For our utility business, we have the largest fuel pipeline network in Asean. Our delivery capacity is approximately 9 billion litres per year. Within the next five years, our renewable energy business is expected to expand and is likely to become our significant source of revenue,” he said.
This led to the establishment of a subsidiary named BAFS Intech Company Limited in 2018, with BAFS and Uniwave Company Limited holding 90 per cent and 10 per cent of the total shares, respectively, “bringing together the strengths of BAFS and Uniwave to create favourable synergy”.
BAFS Intech managing director Aniruth Boonyatirana said the firm’s core business involves the assembly of an electrically powered aviation refuelling vehicle, also known as an EV hydrant dispenser, and refueller, together with maintenance services. In addition to manufacturing aviation refuelling vehicles to be delivered to BAFS, the company also supplies similar products to other Thai customers as well as clients in foreign countries such as Laos and Myanmar.
BAFS Intech recently joined forces with Spain’s Iturri, the world’s leading manufacturer of aircraft refuelling vehicles, to accelerate its battery electric vehicle (BEV) production in the hydrant dispensers.
To promote environmentally friendly and 100-per-cent electrically powered innovations, the vehicles can ensure net-zero carbon dioxide emissions while being able to reach a maximum running distance of 170 kilometres and refuel an average of eight fights on a single full charge. The strategic collaboration is expected to develop a new range of innovative products designed appropriately and exclusively for users in the Asia-Pacific region.
The collaboration also unveils Iturri’s intention to keep developing new solutions for zero-emission vehicles, particularly to comply with new rules and regulations established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation for the reduction of carbon dioxide, carbon footprint and noise at airports.
Iturri managing director Amadeo Douton Rodriguez and aviation manager Luis Ramon Parias Vazquez reaffirmed that the collaboration with BAFS Intech is regarded as the “best business partnership” in the Asean market for aviation and refuelling industries. The agreements will mutually be developed with the support of Iturri’s research and development department, with the piloting of power supplies, electric refuelling machines and smart solutions for hydrogen-powered vehicles, thanks to BAFS Group’s “long-standing experience and expertise in aviation refuelling and its accurate and successful business management strategies”.
Iturri has also set its sights on driving its export volume to 70 per cent of overseas production by 2025, as part of an attempt to achieve a targeted turnover of €500 million (THB18.4 billion), which will double the current value.
“The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic makes people in various businesses realise that no one can stand alone,” Nathasit pointed out.
“BAFS has therefore underscored the importance of business collaboration with various companies in Thailand and in several other countries.
“The plan to manufacture a BEV had been previously considered as we have been fully committed to operating our business based on the principle of social and environmental sustainability,” he said.
“One of BAFS’s proudest achievements was having received certification for being a carbon-neutral company since 2019. As a leading aviation refuelling service provider, we always ask ourselves what can we do more for the environment and move toward true sustainability. Consequently, ‘net-zero’ has become our ultimate goal, to be achieved before 2050,” Nathasit said.
BAFS realises how important it is to reinvent itself to get over the challenges in today’s business and thrive through the Covid crisis, the company added in the press release.
Lenzing Group is committed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions per ton of product by 50 percent by 2030.
The specialty fiber producer Lenzing has announced the completion of an investment of the world’s largest Lyocell fiber manufacturing plant, which is consisting of an advanced innovative production and using biodegradable and environmentally friendly wood fibers at its site in the 304 Industrial Park in Prachinburi Province. 304 Industrial Park is sustainable eco-industrial town offering full ranges of utilities that meet all client queries. Meanwhile, Lyocell plant itself has an annual production capacity of more than 100,000 tons, with a total investment of more than 400 million euros or about 15 billion baht.
It is an important collaboration of both central and local government, the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), and 304 Industrial Park in promoting and supporting this huge investment of Lenzing in Thailand amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over more than two years of support and cooperation, today Australia’s giant textile manufacturer Lenzing that is using an innovation Lyocell, has announced the official opening of the factory on the site of over 311 rai or 497,600 sq.m in 304 Industrial Park in Prachinburi Province.
Mr. Cord Prinzhorn, CEO of Lenzing Group stated that “We are very proud of this achievement. Our sincere thanks go to the entire Lenzing team and especially to our staff in Thailand but also to many external stakeholders, who joined forces in times of a global pandemic to make this key project reality. To deliver such a huge project in time and at budget is an outstanding achievement given the challenges of the global pandemic”
Lenzing Group has built the specialty fiber plant “Lyocell” and is now producing product from wood pulp under the “TENCEL” brand – the world leading eco-friendly textile innovation. The plant is the largest production base of Lenzing Group, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons. The 400-million euro or approximately 15-billion baht manufacturer is set to produce specialty fibers to meet with rapidly growing demand in the global market. This plant also reflects strength as a leading player in the specialty fiber market and the group’s policy towards Zero Carbon.
Lenzing Group is committed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions per ton of product by 50 percent by 2030. Lenzing Group is looking for global investment that meets its business needs in terms of good infrastructure, raw materials, and clean energy sources. 304 Industrial Park is the best answer for Lenzing Group’s investment where it has chosen and built this large factory since 2019.
Mr. Yothin Dumnernchanvanit, President of National Power Supply Public Company Limited and 304 Industrial Park said, “It is very proud that Lenzing has chosen 304 Industrial Park for its world’s largest production base for Lyocell fibers. 304 Industrial Park is a quality industrial park under the concept of an eco-industrial town and is committed to developing utilities that are ready to support all levels of demand as well as to meet the needs of environmentally friendly industries like Lenzing who needs clean energy. 304 Industrial Park is located on Highway No. 304 and is on a high land and flood-free zone in Prachinburi Province. There is a convenient transportation connect to Bangkok. It is close to the airports, ports, and is also easily connected to ASEAN,”
In addition, 304 Industrial Park is supported by the alliance National Power Supply Public Company Limited – NPS, the largest biomass power base in Thailand that produces a capacity of 398 MW as well as producer of solar energy. 304 Industrial Park also built a large reservoir independently of natural water sources capable of supplying up to 160,000 cubic meters of water per day. Its capacity can be expanded to serve the increasing demand. Furthermore, the standard treatment systems are provided and waste disposal systems are zero discharged.
“The reasons Lenzing Group choosing 304 Industrial Park as its main production are the location that is in a high-altitude, flood-free zone, sufficient raw materials for production, and the complete utilities. In particular, there is clean energy of biomass, which will help Lenzing to reach its Zero-Carbon goals. As well, there is convenient transportation for Lenzing Group. Additionally, there are many large businesses that choose to invest in 304 Industrial Park and I will provide information in the future,” Mr. Yothin concluded.
