UOB Thailand’s colleagues and customers are uniting to raise funds to help the Thai Red Cross Society purchase relief kits and daily necessities for disadvantaged people serving home quarantine as part of the COVID-19 restrictions nation-wide. Recipients of the relief packages include the jobless and low-income workers who are staying home to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus and have limited means and access to food and groceries.

With Thailand’s third wave of COVID-19 infections causing great harm to lives and livelihoods, the Bank wanted to provide an opportunity for its colleagues and customers to join it in helping those facing tough times. Through the #UnitedForYou COVID-19 Relief Programme, the Bank will match employee contributions up to a maximum of two million baht. UOB credit cardholders are also encouraged to participate in the fundraising by donating their UOB reward points, with 1,000 points equivalent to 120 baht. Customers will be able to enjoy a double tax deduction on their donations.

The first donation of 1,000 protective coveralls was made to the Rajavithi Hospital at the beginning of the outbreak, while the other 2,000 protective coveralls were donated in May 2021 to Siriraj Hospital and Thammasat University Field Hospital, two of Bangkok’s leading medical institutes that have seen an increase in COVID-19 patients. In April 2021, the Bank also collaborated with SCG Packaging Company Limited to collect unused paper and cardboard boxes from employees for recycling into paper field hospital beds, which have been in high demand.

“GAIA Corporation” confirms no involvement in the news reporting that police raided the factory producing substandard medical gloves in Chonburi Province on 7 June 2021 and 8 June 2021 while clarifying details and preparing for legal actions after consumer confidence in its products has been affected.

Mr.Shuichi Ozawa, CEO of GAIA Corporation (Thailand) Company Limited, has clarified the news appeared in various media regarding the search conducted by police at the factory located at No. 95/12, Moo 4, Bueng Subdistrict, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province, where GAIA Corporation (Thailand) Company Limited has been described as the tenant. Upon examination of authorization information, it was found that such company had not been registered as a medical production facility pursuant to the Medical Device Act B.E. 2551 (2008) and had run the factory without a license to produce and distribute medical gloves which were substandard and packed in new boxes labelled as the other brand with international standards, to deceive both domestic and international customers.

For the case that police searched the warehouse located at Moo 11, Huay Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province and found illegal medical gloves, GAIA Corporation would like to clarify that it has no involvement in such case and has not rented such facility.

Therefore, based on the information recently appeared in various media, GAIA Corporation (Thailand) Company Limited would like to confirm that it has no involvement in the situation which has affected its business reputation and confidence.

At present, GAIA Corporation (Thailand) Company Limited has consulted its legal team to clarify the situation and assessed damages while preparing for legal actions at its best.
