Energy Absolute opens Aseans largest battery factory to power electric vehicles, cut emissions

Energy Absolute (EA) has launched the largest lithium-ion battery factory and integrated energy storage system in Asean courtesy Amita Technology (Thailand) in a bid to build a complete new S-Curve ecosystem.

The factory, located on a 90-rai plot in the Eastern Economic Corridor, will have a production capacity of 1 Gigawatt hours (GWh) per year.

The facility is designed to produce the pouch cell type of lithium-ion batteries using intelligent systems and modern automated production to ensure the highest efficiency and low-cost production.

EA plans to expand the factory’s production capacity to 50 GWh per year in a bid to help Thailand become a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles and power storage.

CEO Somphote Ahunai said the factory would be the heart of electric vehicle production and introduce stable renewable energy for daily use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

He said the facility’s production process also emphasises the concept of energy efficiency and waste reduction by focusing on recycling as much as possible.

“In cooperation with Amita Technologies, which is a manufacturer and distributor of lithium-ion batteries in Taiwan for more than 20 years, EA has entered into investment and experience and technology transfer in building the factory, which has a larger production capacity at world-class level,” Somphote said.

He explained that the pouch cell lithium-ion battery has high capacity, light weight and a long life cycle and does not contain harmful substances such as acid or lead.

He said the battery is environmentally friendly as it is easy to separate its positive and negative plates in the recycling process, thanks to special techniques to produce cells.

“In addition, Amita’s battery is designed to be compatible with Ultra-Fast Charge technology that can charge large electric vehicles in just 15 minutes and supports up to 3,000 charge cycles, which will be a welcome highlight in the use of large commercial electric vehicles,” Somphote said, pointing out that “the battery can be used in all types of electric vehicles, such as cars, trucks, buses and even boats to help reduce emissions caused by internal combustion engines.”

He said a 1 Gigawatt lithium-ion battery in 4,160 electric buses can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 91,709 tonnes per year and reduce diesel consumption by more than 97 million litres per year.

“Apart from being able to produce battery cells on its own, EA has expanded its supply chain to reduce costs, waste and external dependence,” Somphote said.

“In this regard, a solvent distillation tower was built to be used in battery cell manufacturing to purify the cells until they can be recycled, resulting in less waste and a reduction in raw materials imported from abroad,” he added.

The baht opened at 33.41 to the US dollar on Friday, strengthening from Thursday’s closing rate of 33.42.

Rising gold prices, weaker dollar strengthen baht

The Thai currency is likely to move between 33.35 and 33.45 to the greenback during the day, Krungthai Bank market strategist Poon Panichpibool predicted.

Poon said that the baht is likely to strengthen slightly because the dollar is weakening. Moreover, the gold price is increasing to near the level of 1,800 dollars per ounce which will support the baht to strengthen.

Meanwhile, foreign investors are investing in Thai stocks as they recently bought Thai stocks for 4.7 billion baht total. However, They will not invest in the baht much more until they saw how mergers and acquisitions transactions at the end of this year go.

Poon confirmed that the baht is likely to strengthen in the short term according to the technical analysis.

He added that the baht resistance level would be at 33.30 to the dollar while the support level would be at 33.50 which was the weakest level before the Fed meeting.

Fun fact behinds BITEC’s building design

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/property/40009404

Bangkok, Thailand, 29 November 2021- Architectural design does not only respond to the exterior and physical appearance of buildings, it also conceals meanings and functional benefits beyond our perception.

Fun fact behinds BITEC’s building design

Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), a leading MICE venue in Thailand and ASEAN revealed fascinating facts behind its iconic building design that respond to the needs of MICE business.

BITEC’s top priority is to deliver excellent services to customers and visitors, providing convenient, safe and full access to its functional facilities where organisers require specific attention to detail. BITEC focused on all aspects of the architecture, engineering, interior design and landscaping to meet the international standards. The following are the ten remarkable highlights that are considered parts of BITEC’s brand identity.

1. BITEC’s iconic masts

BITEC’s masts are considered as Iconic Architecture that have become like a landmark of the Eastern district of Bangkok. The idea of the design is of the plan to build an exhibition centre without pillars in order to make the most of every square metre.

Apart from an outstanding architectural appeal, all 26 masts support the roof structure, optimising spaces for facility usage without pillar obstructions. This allows for more flexible movement when installing equipment or industry machinery that requires manufacturing lifting. It is also beneficial for exhibitions that require vertical change of scene as the Hanging Point of the main roof structure has a bearing capacity of 2,000 kilograms per trussing line.

2. The size of BITEC’s parking space that is equal to 94 Olympic Game swimming pools

Many may think that BITEC does not have enough parking spaces, but in fact BITEC has a total capacity of up to 5,050 cars. BITEC has an indoor car park on the basement B1, B2 and B3 floors as well as the outdoor area which the total space is comparable to 94 standard Olympic swimming pools putting together. The parking space also includes special parking zones well as parking and charging outlets for electric vehicles (EV).

Fun fact behinds BITEC’s building design

3. Freedom of heights

The EH 100 Hall at BITEC is an event space with the highest ceiling of 25 metres, equivalenting to 6 London buses in stack. The height freedom benefits events that require manufacturing lifting or high ceiling space for loading and installation such as acrobatics, concerts and performing shows.

4. Strong building surface that can support the weight of up to 3 tons

BITEC is the only venue in Thailand that can host industrial exhibitions and trade shows. The building’s Floor load that has an ability to support the weight of up to 3 tons per square metre, allows BITEC to be the venue of choice for organisers in the public and private sectors.

5. Connected open exhibition halls that are big enough to fit 6 airplanes

Believe it or not, the EH 98 to EH 107 exhibition halls are connected thoroughly with a total distance of 867 metres. With the total distance that can fit six A380 Airbus aircrafts, the connected halls are suitable for exhibitions that need to be separated into zones without pillar obstructions such as the Expo. The halls are also a great venue to host an event like an indoor marathon, creating an open space event for visitors as well as avoiding the traffic and PM2.5. pollution.

Each building has its own loading point with truck access, allowing for easy transportation, installations and dismantles

6. The longest travellator in the Thai MICE industry

BITEC has the longest travellator in the Thai MICE industry, with a total distance of 718 metres. The travellator allows users to commute within the space through each hall faster and more convenient. It is specially designed to match the style of the building with high safety standards equivalent to the ones at the airports, shopping malls and five-star hotels. BITEC also considered power and energy-saving as one of the top priorities, hence the travellator will automatically stop when there are no users. As for its long narrow path, this might be a good idea for those who look for a photogenic corner for photos and posts on social media.

7. BITEC has a total of 34 meeting rooms that can support meetings up to 136 rounds a day

Not only BITEC has exhibition halls and trade show venues, BITEC also provides 34 functional rooms that can support banquets and meetings up to 136 rounds a day. The rooms can accommodate up to 5,155 seats per day (4 rounds a day, 2 for morning session and 2 for afternoon session). With services and facilities that meet the international standards, the functional meeting rooms are choice of full benefits for corporate meetings, seminars, and annual parties.

8. Plus-size Loading Bay for cranes and trucks

BITEC is the only venue in Thailand that allows cranes and trucks to enter the halls for loading and setting up. The access through a plus-size Loading Door is six metres tall and eight metres wide. This allows exhibitors to set up industrial machineries in a more cost-effective and convenient way. Also, facilitating loading by Dock leveller.

9. The colours have meanings

Noticeably, the interior at BITEC is decorated with six colourful schemes to identify zones and separate staircases, escalators, elevators, and parking. This is to guide visitors through the halls to their destination. The six colours all have meanings in relation to BITEC.

  • Purple is referred to colour of the day of birth of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who presided at the ceremony to establish the centre
  • Red is referred to Rose Atrium
  • Orange is referred to Sun Atrium
  • Yellow is referred to Moon Atrium
  • Green is referred to Hill Atrium or Rubber Tree
  • Blue is referred to Sky Atrium

The colour codes will help to guide visitors throughout BITEC.

10. Only MICE venue in Thailand with the magic hatch

The magic hatch or what is called ‘Utility Hatch’ is important for a MICE venue because it hides bumps and bulges of the wires on the floor. It is hidden under the floor surface and contains all things such as electricity cables, plumbing cables, air deflectors that are installed at the events. The magic hatch is a must-have facility for industrial machinery exhibitions or events with machinery demonstration. Apart from being practical for setting up and providing a seamless appearance, the magic hatch also adds safety and security for the venue. Those hatches installed at every 9 meters on standard exhibition floor.

Apart from the outstanding architectural and meanings behind the design, BITEC also offers the international standards services and facilities to all users to utilise and benefit from the use of the space. The centre is working to provide services, safety and security that respond to alternating needs of MICE business in the next normal era.

Poly Identifies Top Trends that Will Shape Hybrid Working in 2022 and Beyond

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/pr-news/business/40010069

According to the 2021 EY Work Reimagined Employer Survey, 84% of companies in the region plan to make moderate to extensive hybrid work changes and are actively promoting hybrid work to attract and retain talent.

Poly Identifies Top Trends that Will Shape Hybrid Working in 2022 and Beyond

Prevalent adoption of hybrid work has introduced new workstyles and requirements that will impact how business leaders approach workplace design and investment over the long term. As a result, more organisations are adopting hybrid work as the default arrangement as various markets in Asia Pacific began easing pandemic-related restrictions.

According to the 2021 EY Work Reimagined Employer Survey, 84% of companies in the region plan to make moderate to extensive hybrid work changes and are actively promoting hybrid work to attract and retain talent. The same survey also noted employees’ preference for flexibility in where and when they work, with many stating hybrid work will help increase productivity and creativity.

“Remote and hybrid work have redefined people’s idea of workplace as they know it, causing shifts in workstyles as well as disparity in work experiences. To truly succeed in the hybrid era, business leaders will need to devise workplace strategies and investments that will enable workers to have a more equitable work experience regardless of where they are working from, for optimal collaboration and productivity,” said Pierre-Jean Châlon, Senior Vice President, APAC, Poly.

“Hybrid work is now a norm. In fact, it’s reported that hybrid is the preferred working arrangement in Southeast Asia, alongside work anywhere and work remotely full-time. These have introduced a set of considerations and challenges that may be relatively new to many business leaders. Which is why a good understanding of workplace personas is crucial to help business leaders make informed decisions when they map out hybrid work strategies, as well as technology and workspace investments to ensure they match the dynamic workstyles of an increasingly distributed workforce,” said Samir Sayed, Managing Director for ASEAN and Korea, Poly.

Poly Identifies Top Trends that Will Shape Hybrid Working in 2022 and Beyond

Top Trends that Will Shape Hybrid Working in 2022 and Beyond

#1: Productivity Anywhere Will Shake Up Workforce and Workplace Structure

Remote working has enabled employees to be productive anywhere, everywhere, and anytime. With hybrid working being the default arrangement, business leaders will start looking into providing a more equitable work experience for those inside and outside the office, especially during meetings and group discussions. Willis Tower Watson’s recent 2021 Employee Experience survey found that 90% of APAC employers are prioritizing enhancing the employee experience over the next three years

This collaborative infrastructure will also complement the greater adoption of asynchronous work practices – a trend triggered by the pandemic. It will not just redefine how employees collaborate with one another, but also help businesses rethink hiring practices and tap into a more global and diversified talent pool. Industries have and will continue to change how they work, with decentralised work practices and processes enabling effective business continuity for a workforce that may be largely working from home.

#2: Greater Use of A.I. and Data Analytics in the Workplace

According to a survey by Juniper Networks, 95% of respondents said their companies’ daily operations, products and services would benefit from implementing AI technologies. Leaders across the region will start adopting AI and data analytics to support and improve employee productivity and safety, in addition to driving business growth and operational efficiency, as part of their continued digital transformation plan.

IT departments will turn to data and insights to have a more objective view on employee productivity both in the office and when they work remotely. These will help inform decisions on what technology investments to help a hybrid workforce collaborate better. Office managers will also leverage insights such as occupancy data can help office managers determine the most effective office layout, minimise wasted space and reinforce or improve proper safe distancing measures.

#3: Office Spaces Reimagined for a Hybrid Future

With employees working remotely half or most of the time, companies are turning to a flexible and cost-effective approach for their office space investment. In Singapore, central business district (CBD) office occupiers could aim to reduce their footprint by 10% to 20% over the next three years, according to Maybank Kim Eng.

There will be a growing adoption of the office on-demand approach to help businesses effectively add on workspaces as needed. On the other hand, companies with existing excess office space can consider subleasing part of that space as needed; this ‘core and flex’ model enables a combination of long-term security for core operations while allowing flexibility for growth. At the same time, companies will start redefining workforce roles and determine which functions are best suited to be based in central business district (CBD) areas, and who can work either remotely or in satellite offices in regional cities or districts.

Business leaders will also look how to make return to office something that employees look forward to. Offices will become collaboration hubs, serving as a place for teams to gather to brainstorm in small groups, host client meetings, celebrate milestones, and work on joint projects. They will also serve as a central hub for community socialisation that will help provide a culture that cannot be replicated via remote working.

Looking Ahead: Organisations Must Invest in Technology that Improve Employee Experiences

Companies’ technology investments and collaboration strategies will focus on improving employees’ working experience both remotely and on-site. Users are expecting technology to be easy to use to minimise disruption that may hamper productivity and collaboration, so that they can spend more time getting real work done instead of figuring out how the tools work.

With limitations around business travels and in-person meetings, video conferencing is now the norm for collaboration. This also led to new usage model of videos such as telemedicine, hybrid events, virtual property viewing and educational courses via videos. As such, more and more organisations are adopting a no-compromise attitude to ensure the highest quality video solutions are used for high level productivity, resilience, and customer experience.

This will drive an increased demand in pro-grade technology and collaboration tools that are geared to drive better user experiences. ReportLinker is already forecasting that the Asia Pacific Video Conferencing Market will grow at a CAGR of 17.8% within 2021-2027.This is prime opportunity for collaboration vendors that are platform-agnostic to thrive, as they enable office collaborators to use the same infrastructure in the conference room as they have grown accustomed to using from their home offices.
