A secondary school in Nikhom Khamsoi district of Mukdahan province was ordered shut by provincial public health office on Thursday after 40 people have tested positive for Covid-19.

Mukdahan public health officers launched a school-wide testing on Thursday and found that at least 40 people tested positive for the new coronavirus. The school was ordered shut later that day, with no one was allowed in except for authorized persons.

Public health officers revealed that infected patients include teachers, staffers and students who have been going to the school since earlier this month. The school reportedly has a total of 1,200 students and over 70 faculty members and staffers.

Udom Wetchkama, aged 45, a parent of a Mattayom 2 student said that he had come to the school to pick up his 16-year-old son but was not allowed in. “I’m really concerned that there could be more infected patients found in the school,” he said. “I already brought clothes and foods for my son in case he has to stay overnight.”

Officials said that after testing is complete, infected patients will be transported to Nikhom Khamsoi Field Hospital for treatment. “So far we still have no confirmed number of infections from this cluster cases, but it could be more than 60 people,” one of the officers said.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will start vaccinating employees of businesses and establishments who have direct contact with customers with Sinovac-AstraZeneca vaccine cocktail from November 9 onward.

“The move aims to increase employees’ immunity and make the businesses and establishments safe for tourists after the province has been reopened to vaccinated visitors since November 1,” said Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang on Thursday.

Under the reopening plan, visitors travelling by air from 63 countries that have a low level of Covid-19 infections will not have to quarantine, but they must prove they have received both jabs of an approved Covid-19 vaccine for at least 14 days as well as produce a negative RT-PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours before flying.

To complement the reopening, the government has lifted nighttime curfew in Bangkok and other 16 tourist provinces, as well as allowed more businesses to open with disease control measures employed.

“Each district office will survey establishments in their area to get the number of employees who have yet to be vaccinated,” said Aswin. “Then, the office will set up a vaccination unit and notify the establishments to have their staffers get the jabs at the scheduled date and venue.”

Aswin also added that since November 1 BMA has inspected 1,493 establishments in the province and found that most of them comply with the disease control measures. “Only 175 businesses were found to violate the measures. Officials have already issued warning as well as suggestions to comply with the regulations.”

December 28 made a special holiday for Eastern region #SootinClaimon.Com

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/blogs/in-focus/40008419

The Cabinet decided to make December 28, Phraya Taksin Day, a holiday for the Eastern region, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam announced on Thursday.

The region comprises eight provinces: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo and Trat.

The governors of all eight provinces suggested the holiday.

Back when Phraya Taksin left Ayutthaya to Chanthaburi during the Burmese–Siamese War of 1765–1767, he travelled through all eight provinces to gather people and find army bases.

The holiday is however only for this year.

The Cabinet also agreed to set additional public holidays as a special case in 2022, amounting to four days: July 15, July 29, October 14 and December 30.

This was decided upon so people could have long holidays, which are expected to stimulate travel and the overall economy of the country.
