If the four southern border provinces can vaccinate 70 per cent of their population in time, they may be able to reopen their borders connected to Malaysia from December 1, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said after a meeting with Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who visited the provinces to monitor the Covid-19 situation.

Phiphat discussed with the Royal Thai Consulate-General of Penang the possibility of including Kedar in a so-called “travel bubble” between Malaysia’s Langkawi and Koh Lipe in Satun as ferries can connect the two countries.

No vaccine bias at Royal Kathin Ceremony: Culture Ministry #SootinClaimon.Com

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/blogs/in-focus/40007515

The Culture Ministry has clarified that people vaccinated with Sinovac or Sinopharm will be allowed to attend the Royal Kathin Ceremony.

The clarification came after Kaw Klai Party member Wirot Lakkana-Adisorn took to Twitter to claim that only people vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna or J&J would be allowed to participate in the ceremony while those who have received Sinovac or Sinopharm jabs most likely won’t be allowed to take part.

Ministry spokesman Prasop Riang-ngoen said the Twitter post likely stemmed from a misunderstanding and was not true.

The Culture Ministry had a meeting with the Public Health Ministry’s Department of Disease Control and related agencies to determine hygiene rules for the ceremony.

The guidelines state that people who attend the ceremony should be inoculated with any brand of vaccine approved by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organisation. Participants must have received two injections or at least 1 injection not less than 14 days before the ceremony.

Feeding frenzy #SootinClaimon.Com

Flooding has led to an unavoidable rise in canal and river waters in Ayutthaya province, especially at Wat Phanan Choeng, bringing the fish closer than usual to temple visitors, who can almost reach out and touch them during feeding.

Fish feeding is a common activity when people visit temples located at rivers or canals. Visitors normally purchase fish food on the cheap in temples and proceed to feed the seemingly always-hungry, abundant shoals.

These photos were posted on the Facebook page of Wat Phanan Choeng on Wednesday.

Woman held for allegedly tricking another into prostitution abroad #SootinClaimon.Com

A 54-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday in Samut Prakan for allegedly tricking another woman into prostitution in Bahrain by offering her a spa massage job. The suspect admitted to sending the woman abroad but insisted she did not deceive the woman into selling sexual services.

Police said no government officer has yet been found to be involved in or related with the incident.

On Thursday, Central Investigation Police Commander Pol Lt-General Jirapop Phuridej announced the arrest of a 54-year-old woman who had tricked a Thai woman for sexual services in Bahrain after the incident had been reported to Pavena Foundation. The suspect was arrested at Samut Prakan’s Phra Samut Chedi district before being detained for interrogation.

Pol Lt-General Jirapop said that the accused was one of the key agents responsible for persuading a young woman to work at spa parlours in Bahrain with an income of more than 50,000 baht per month. But once the victim had arrived, she was confined to a room and was threatened to give such services in order to pay for the debt the victim had allegedly caused with the agency company.

Later, the victim had been brought to sell sexual services in various places and 50 per cent of the income was taken by the agency. The victim then reported to the Pavena Foundation for help and was brought back safely to Thailand.

Related news:

Preliminary, the accused has refused the accusation by saying the victim was only brought to work abroad, but had not been forced for sex trafficking. The officials are expanding the investigation to find the actual number of women who have been tricked into selling sexual services abroad.

“There have been more reports of sex trafficking in other countries but it is confirmed that no government officers are involved,” Pol Lt-General Jirapop concluded.

Researchers make exciting gem-orchid discovery #SootinClaimon.Com

Thai researchers were in for the find of their lives when they discovered a new species of orchid in the world at Khao Luang in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. They have named the orchid “Uaeng anyamanee Si Thammarat” – Si Thammarat Gem Orchid – or corybas papillatus Inuthai.

The discovery of corybas papillatus Inuthai was announced on Thammasat University’s Faculty of Science and Technology website on Monday, with collaboration with the Forest Herbarium (BKF) Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and Prince of Songkla University’s Plant Museum (PSU Herbarium). The discovery of this new orchid species has also been published on the PhytoKeys journal website.

This new species of orchid was firstly found by the BKF researchers at Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Khao Luang National Park. The corybas papillatus Inuthai is a small ground orchid. There are tubers of round or oval shape with heart-shaped single leaves, purple flowers and sepals on the tips of round petals. The outer surface of the upper calyx is irregularly buttoned. Lateral sepals and petals are green with antennae-like lines. The cone is upright, rolled into a tube, forming a v-shaped cavity. There are two conical spurs. The lobe of the mouth is curved backward and spread out, almost spherical in shape, with hairs on the surface.

Upon examination, the corybas papillatus Inuthai was found to resemble Corybas villosus J. Dransf. & Gord. Sm., which was previously reported in Malaysia. But the upper sepals of the newly discovered orchid have no outer ridge and the lateral sepals are connected to the two petals.
