To help SME operators conveniently access government services using a single identification on a unified platform, the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) have been working together on a much-needed project called “SME One ID”.

‘SME One ID’ project allows small businesses easy access to govt services

The project aims to reduce overlapping procedures and streamline registration and documentation processes.

“Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha had tasked OSMEP in August 2021 to bring the project to fruition as part of the policy to improve government e-services,” said OSMEP director Weeraphong Malai.

“SME One ID utilises digital technology to develop a platform that entrepreneurs can use to apply for services of various government agencies using a single identification. Thanks to seamless integration between all partner agencies, the platform can greatly reduce overlapping procedures, unnecessary filling of forms, and lower documentation management costs,” Weeraphong pointed out.

“We expect more than 3 million SME operators to benefit from the project,” he said.

In 2021 OSMEP signed a memorandum of understanding with the DGA, which is responsible for technology implementation during phase I of the project, besides eight other firms, which will help facilitate registration for SME operators on the platform.

The eight are CP All, Eke-Chai Distribution System (Tesco Lotus), the Export-Import Bank of Thailand, Bank of China (Thai), Tellscore, TikTok, the Thailand Environment Institute and Bank of Ayudhya.

“In 2022, we expect to bring on board more partners such as Siam Makro, Index Creative Village, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Gentosia, Feyverly, True Corporation, Innotech Laboratory Service and the Government Savings Bank,” Weeraphong said.

The SME One ID platform is available at www.bizportal.go.th. It can currently handle registration of individuals and juristic persons, who will be able to apply for various government services from different agencies without having to register for a new account and wait for the agency to verify their documentation.

“For example, registered entrepreneurs can conveniently apply for product registration with the Thailand Food and Drug Administration or the Thai Industrial Standards Institute, or apply for promotional privileges with the Creative Economy Agency, the Department of Industrial Promotion, or the Comptroller-General’s Department,” Weeraphong said.

He said OSMEP is planning to expand SME One ID coverage to more government agencies, including the ministries of Industry, Commerce, Labour, and Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Weeraphong aims to achieve at least 1 million registrants by the end of 2022, meaning one third of Thailand’s SMEs will be on the platform.

“SME One ID is also holding a promotional campaign via Shopee until August next year to allow registrants to sell their products on Shopee’s microsite. We expect more than 1,800 entrepreneurs to join,” he added.

DGA director Suphoj Thianwut said SME One ID was launched as a measure to help business operators get in touch with government agencies during the Covid-19 lockdown.

“Now that the situation is improving, it will become a platform that compiles and manages big data of Thai SMEs for policy planners and future investors,” he said.

“The DGA has employed the latest technology to ensure registrants’ data are secure on the platform and can be used only for the intended purposes,” he made clear.

Entrepreneur Bussayaphan Wongpilaiwat, who has registered on SME One ID, said she decided to use the platform so that she could avail of government support for her fried mushroom snack business under the brand Veget Crisp.

“I used to sell fried vegetables at a fresh market. Now I have my own business with products being exported,” she said.

“Thanks to SME One ID, which is easy to register via Bizportal.go.th, I can find training courses in product development, as well as apply for loans and register with the FDA. It also helps me connect with trade partners to expand my business,” she added satisfactorily.

Two big names fostering collaboration on ‘Net-Zero’ mission for low-carbon fuels towards further step of aviation fueling excellence

#SootinClaimon.Com : ขอบคุณแหล่งข้อมูล : หนังสือพิมพ์ The Nation.

https://www.nationthailand.com/pr-news/business/40016878

Here comes the time to accelerate bold actions to tackle the climate crisis as it is poised to get worse.

Two big names fostering collaboration on ‘Net-Zero’ mission for low-carbon fuels towards further step of aviation fueling excellence

Global oceans have recently reached their hottest and most acidic levels on record, which is a consequence of climate change led by rising greenhouse gas emissions. This has prompted the international community to come together in the Paris Agreement to set a goal for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. However, if member states failed to achieve this goal by 2050, then we may not be able to live on this planet the same way ever again as the heat currently generated by greenhouse gases will continue to cause global warming and affect future generations for many years to come.

Two big names fostering collaboration on ‘Net-Zero’ mission for low-carbon fuels towards further step of aviation fueling excellence

The goal of net-zero emissions can be achieved if we stop or reduce activities that cause further emissions of greenhouse gases, which means we need to introduce systematic changes in the technology we use, as well as in our policies and behaviors. One of the best and most efficient ways to ensure the achievement of net-zero emissions is to seek solutions that limit global warming to 1.5 °C, which today unfortunately has already risen to 1.1 °C. Therefore, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is crucial and must be put into practice immediately. According to the reports, the aviation industry has produced around 2 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has forecasted the number of air passengers will increase to 10 billion by 2050. If there is still no viable solution to reduce greenhouse gases in the aviation industry, then we may possibly face with approximately 21.2 gigatons of carbon in the future (2021-2050).

For the above-mentioned reasons, Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Public Company Limited (BAFS), the largest aviation fuelling service provider in Thailand, with close to 40 years of experience and expertise in aircraft refueling and fuel quality inspection, has therefore adjusted its strategies to serve as an organization that always grows in parallel with global sustainability and is fully committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in order to make the net-zero emissions goal achievable. As a major milestone to demonstrate their commitment to tackling climate issues, BAFS has recently unveiled its mission to transform fossil fuels into sustainable fuels for the entire aviation business. This has led BAFS to a new strategic collaboration with Mitr Phol Group, the world’s third-largest sugar producer and Thailand’s largest manufacturer of sugar and renewable energy derived from sugarcane, a longstanding company that has been a part of Thai people for more than 66 years.

Two big names fostering collaboration on ‘Net-Zero’ mission for low-carbon fuels towards further step of aviation fueling excellence

M.L. Nathasit Diskul, President of Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Public Company Limited (BAFS), said the aviation industry is showing strong signs of recovery, where long-term growth of the global aviation industry has been expected to come mainly from the Asia-Pacific region. However, the overall industry still has to confront significant headwind. The main challenge is climate change, which will continue to severely affect how we live in the world. Reducing greenhouse gases can start immediately by adopting sustainable aviation fuel, which is a biofuel that can be mixed with conventional aviation fuel and can be produced from similar raw materials used for ethanol and biodiesel production. This is also considered a key measure supported by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to make the mission of net-zero emissions achievable by 2050.

“As the leading ethanol producer in Asia and the potential of Thai agricultural sector in providing the raw materials, I am confident that our strategic collaboration with Mitr Phol Group will be an important step for the energy and aviation sectors to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly to drive Thailand to become a hub for sustainable aviation fuel production for the region. We are not only seeking sustainability for the aviation industry and agricultural sector, but we hope to play a pivotal role in uplifting the world to a more sustainable direction for future generations,” added M.L. Nathasit.

The synergy between the two business giants unveils a tremendous effort to achieve net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases. With more than 18 years of success on the road of renewable energy development and biomass power production, Mitr Phol Group is ready to demonstrate its professional expertise in innovation, research, and technology, being able to build on the productivity of the agricultural sector and make it more innovative for other businesses. The company’s sugar business has been expanded into renewable energy (e.g. biomass power, solar energy, and ethanol), fertilizer, wood substitute, and bio-based chemicals and energy businesses. These innovation-based businesses help create economic opportunities and sustainable environmental development. The low-carbon electricity business is also considered another huge success of the company as the production of biomass electricity comes mainly from molasses, and agricultural wastes, backed by sustainable sugarcane plantation management. The starting raw materials have always remained a top priority for Mitr Phol Group’s sustainability principle, particularly since they help optimize both quality and quantity of products as well as add greater value to the bio-jet industry.

With a commitment to saving the environment in line with the government’s policy on using renewable energy, enhancing the development of technology, creating added value for by-products obtained from the agricultural sector, and using or recycling resources efficiently according to the zero-waste guidelines, Mitr Phol Group has established its ethanol business in the name of Mitr Phol Bio Fuel Company Limited to manufacture, process, and develop raw materials obtained from sugarcane to be high-quality ethanol by making use of molasses left over from sugar production and sugarcane juice as raw materials for the production of 99.5-percent pure ethanol. Since 2005, Mitr Phol Group has successfully operated a total of five ethanol production plants across the country, with a total production capacity of 1.5 liters per day or 500 million liters per year, considered one of the largest ethanol producers in the Asia.

Two big names fostering collaboration on ‘Net-Zero’ mission for low-carbon fuels towards further step of aviation fueling excellence

Mr. Verajet Vongkusolkit, Chief Executive Officer – Thai Sugar, Energy, and New Business, Mitr Phol Group, unveiled the core objectives of this cooperation, reaffirming that Mitr Phol Group’s ethanol business is ready to be upgraded from the production of sugarcane-based ethanol used in the automotive industry to the development of highly innovative fuel for the large-scale aviation industry, supported by the company’s sustainable ethanol certification plans in line with the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) measures determined by the ICAO. This has been expected to help evolve sustainable development in reducing greenhouse gas emissions conforming to the net-zero emissions goal set by nations around the globe, including Thailand’s Mitr Phol Group, to be achieved in 2050.

This has prompted Mitr Phol Group to collaborate with the public, private, and social sectors to progress with further business development based on the principles of sustainability, while being able to add value to the country’s economy, society, and environment. With BAFS being recognized as the No.1 aircraft refueling service provider in Thailand, possessing a common vision in developing and promoting the use of bio-jet fuel, the specialized expertise of the two business giants has been expected to be an essential tool to make the goal of reducing greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emissions achievable in reality.

“To achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions in Thailand, Mitr Phol Bio Fuel and BAFS will conduct a feasibility study on technology, production, marketing, rules, and standards related to bio-jet fuels to drive Thailand towards becoming a strategic hub for sustainable aviation fuel production in Southeast Asia, which will help maximize competitiveness for the country, build a circular economy for the agricultural, energy, and tourism industries, and minimize greenhouse gas emissions for the aviation industry in a more sustainable manner,” concluded Mr. Verajet.

Two big names fostering collaboration on ‘Net-Zero’ mission for low-carbon fuels towards further step of aviation fueling excellence

Considered a very significant step in reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions, the collaboration between BAFS and Mitr Phol Group also promotes the development and use of clean energy for the aviation industry as well as the enhanced sustainability in operating the businesses serving as another important tool towards the ‘Fly Net Zero’ goal set by the IATA to be achieved by 2050.

“When Mr Prayudh saw the benefits of the longan fruit and had the desire to support the society, especially the longan farmers, Mr Prayudh then took the step of investing a huge sum of 2 billion bahts to initiate the project. To support this industry he built a factory that extracted a concentrated longan essence, which is sold under the brand name P80. Furthermore he invested seriously into research to develop products that are beneficial to the body and to the society as a whole. This opened up new opportunities to those who wish to promote their overall health by being able to eat good things for their better well-being and better health.”

“Furthermore, since the Thai people are now aware about this information, they should take the opportunity to look for P80 Natural Essence and consume it for their own health benefits. This would also allow P80 Natural Essence to create a good reputation for Thailand. I also recommend this to foreigners and the global market so that they are able to consume something beneficial that was ‘born’ in Thailand.”

Easing of restrictions aims to drive the economy and enable the public to live safely with Covid backed with sufficient public health facilities and support.

Anutin was joined by: Saksayam Chidchob, Transport Minister; Siraphop Duangsodsri, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism & Sports; Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrachit, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health; Chayatham Promsorn, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Transport; and Chote Trachu, Permanent Secretary of Ministry Of Tourism & Sports.

“The tourism and hospitality sector in Thailand has lived with the adversity caused by Covid-19 and closing of the country for over two years,” the Public Health Minister reflected. “The Ministry of Public Health along with the Ministry of Tourism & Sports and Ministry of Transport are working closely to provide solutions to rebalance pandemic controls to facilitate the opening of the country. Currently, the Covid-19 situation is improving with steadily decreasing numbers of cases and death. This is thanks to cooperation by the public and business owners in following the preventive measures and other restrictions, including lockdown measures, services shutdown, social distancing area provision, ventilation system improvement, vaccination provision for staff, and Covid-testing for staff. These collaborations enable the Ministry of Public Health to further propose other easing policies to facilitate tourism operators.

“From 1 May 2022 onward, the government stopped the Test & Go scheme for fully-vaccinated tourists to enter the kingdom freely. Therefore, increasing numbers of tourists are travelling to Thailand, catalysing positive economic recovery.

“As the transition from pandemic to endemic is expected to see rising numbers of tourists in the kingdom, the Ministry of Public Health therefore organised a hearing with 22 representatives of associations and departments including tourism, hospitality, restaurants and hotels. The hearing and solution session aims to identify appropriate public health measures to propose to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) conference to enable convenience and affirmation for tourism and transport sectors and support Thai people to resume normalcy and living with Covid-19 safely.

“The hearing session shows agreement between government and business sectors in proposing guidelines for Thailand to overcome the crisis on the basis of public safety while boosting tourism and the economy. Unnecessary restrictions are being eased to drive transition to the endemic phase. Advance policy notification from the Ministry of Tourism is necessary for business operators to prepare and adjust their plans. The Ministry of Transport and other relevant agencies are requested to facilitate tourism convenience speedily. The Ministry of Public Health is required to provide medical and public services as well as relaxing measures and keeping the public appraised of and compliant with the ongoing situation. For its part, the Ministry of Public Health has already provided full medical support, including beds, medicines, medical professionals, medical devices, and personal hygiene protection to tackle the Covid outbreaks.

“While social measures have been relaxed, the most vital factor is cooperation from business owners to understand and follow the 2 U Policy which includes: Universal Prevention; infection prevention with social distancing, washing hands, wearing masks in indoor spaces and crowded areas, and testing when contacting high risk groups, and; Universal Vaccination; ensuring availability of booster shots to elevate safety levels.  When all requirements are met, and vaccinations are fully boosted as advised, the country opening for tourists need no longer raise concerns about a repeat outbreak. Even if infection occurs, severe symptom or loss of life are not major threats.

“The Ministry of Public Health adheres to the HEALTH FOR WEALTH framework which includes cultivating the public health system to support Thailand to develop and grow stronger economically. The vision is not one dimensional: Thailand’s public health system helps boost and promote business and investment. Herbal and  cannabis product development is one of the models used to promote domestic medical treatment and exports while enhancing the country to become a world medical hub that attracts health tourism travellers.

“The Ministry of Public Health believes that strong healthcare development is a key-driver of positive economic and social development. Thai people’s safety is ensured by having quality public health,” said Anutin.
